Official "Heroes" discussion thread - Caution: Speculation and Potential Spoilers

I think the guy in the bar could be connected to the bad guys....just the look about him (intense eyes) and the "blank" reading Matt got from him....

Now, about Claire...in next week's preview they show her getting some revenge with the jock showing him what she can do (driving the car toward the building with the jock in the passenger seat) so at least he knows she is still alive...but how do you explain being dead, then not?

And....Hiro's friend seems to have a fascination with Niki...he seems to be watching quite a bit of her on his computer and palm pilot.....and got very excited they were going to Las Vegas....

And last night Hiro answered my question from last week about Issac being the dead guy in the studio....Hiro said last night that he found the author of the comic book dead in this apartment (or at least he thought it was the author).

Ok...was Sylar a "flyer"....did he fly away from Matt in the basement of the FBI headquarters or did he teleport himself away....?

What's with the brother making up the lie about Peter trying to commit suicide?

I can't believe how much I like this show. I'm not a TV lover! Hiro is adorable...but could I have a bigger crush on Mohinder? Dang...

LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS SHOW!!!!

Okay, now I will calm down lol.

I am really really interested about figuring out about Syler!!!!!

Will come back later and discuss more =) Class time now!

Maybe I'm a bad parent for letting my 10 and 11 year olds stay up until 10 to watch this gore filled show. But, I must say that there is no show on TV that makes my DD think as much as this one. If she could type faster, or spell, for that matter, I'd have her join this chat. She really asks good questions during and after the show. I'd rather have her watch a thought-provoking show than something mindless.

That being said, my DS got spooked pretty good during last night's show. Something fell in the kitchen while we were watching Heroes in the family room. Since the kitchen door was open because it was warm last night, he decided it was up to him to protect me and his sister. He was embarassed when he saw that a pack of rolls had fallen from the counter. I told him his first clue that it was nothing was that the dogs didn't bark. So, the intensity of the show got to him, but he still sleeps without bad dreams.

Damage control, maybe? By making Peter seem suicidal will make anyone dismiss his talk that he can fly.

Odd that Peter flew around Nathan but not on his own (in front of the kid with the red cape .. classic!!). I'm guessing that either Nathan can levitate himself and others, and was making Peter believe that he could fly, or Peter has to be emotionally agitated to do so on his own. Either way, it'll be interesting to learn the truth.

I checked out of this series last night at about 9:30. I did like the Hiro storyline (good character IMO) and the cop who hears people's thoughts. But the bad acting just got to me. Ali Larter and the girl portraying the cheerleader are just pathetic actors IMO. I have heard better line reading at my kids' elementary school. I couldn't take it anymore. I got tired of waiting for Hiro, the cop, or Mohinder to show back up. Maybe it's just me. :confused3 Too bad... it could have been a good show.

Okay, where is the smiley where I am kicking myself in the butt. It sounds like last nights episode was another good one and I totally slept through it. :cloud9: I finally woke up to catch the last few minutes of Studio 60. So, if anyone can give me a quick synopsis I would appreciate it. I will try to catch the episode online later this week.

I am finding Ali Larter's storyline rather boring. Every time they show a segment featuring her, it just slows the whole show down. I am hoping that will change quick.

My DVR did not tape it. I caught the last couple of minutes. I now have it set to tape on Friday night. From what I saw, it looked like a good episode.

I'm also wondering if Nathan made Peter "fly". The scene with him falling on his face at the playground was really funny. There must be an easier, less painfull, way to test your flying skills. :rotfl:

I still think Claire's dad is a bad guy. Is he really trying to find her biological parents? I think he already knows who they are and has no intention of telling Claire about them.

I also have a little crush on Mohinder.

Kycha ~ You can watch the full episode here http://www.nbc.com/Video/rewind/full_episodes/?show=heroes

I think this show is fantastic. It certainly makes you think and ask questions. That is also my biggest fear about the show. Usually shows that require thinking on the viewers part don't last.

Loving this show! Couple of things about last nights super episode:

I think Peter can only fly when Nathan is around. I think they are psychically connected to each other. Again, remember when Peter said he could "feel" Nathan getting hurt 1000 miles away? I think Nathan lied about the suicicide attempt just to cover his own butt and continue bidding for the Senate. However, if that WERE ultimately the case, why would he have invited his brother to the press conference/dinner?

Now that Isaac's gf is hot for Peter, will Isaac turn "bad"? Jealousy is an ugly thing people!

Syler...he's the one impailing people and stealing their brains. I think he somehow absorbs the powers of others when he steals their brain (weird I know). WHy else would he have multiple powers?

Anybody else think that Nikki's husband isn't the murderer of all those mob dudes? I bet Nikki killed them, just like the two creeps in her garage. I also think her MIL turned her in to the mysterious Mr. Linderman.

Claire...holy sh** indeed! What a final shot. DH and I both winced and groaned! I hope she doesn't go bad now. Vengeance is ugly too ya know! If her Dad DID know about her powers, how did she end up in the morgue? Would'nt he have prevented an autopsy, or had her transfered to his government facility? No...something is definitely up with him.

As for Matt in the bar and the black guy blocking his thoughts, DH actually noticed that the black guy had a mark on him. It was the same mark/design that was on Mohinder's dad's computer!!

discuss...

I think Mohinder's neighbor is the one who cleaned out Syler's apartment. She's a bit too eager an accomplice and also kept her mouth shut when they returned with the police.

DH thinks everything Syler has done can be explained as advanced telekenisis. I disagree - I think since he's patient 0 he might have all of their powers. Either way it'll be interesting to see how this plays out.

I noticed the mark on the guy in the bar too.

I definitely think Niki's MIL turned her in to Mr. Linderman.

I wonder why Claire "died" after being attacked like that, but the countless other things she did just caused her to get up and walk away immediately afterwards.

I think it's like all superheroes who are learning how to control a "power". they can only do it in a crisis, until they learn how to control it.

eta: those of you who missed it- they usually replay the show a couple of times on either bravo or USA during the week, so as they say "check your local listings!"

I think Nikki killed those guys too, otherwise how would she know where to bury the bodies?

psssst--I think mohinder is very cute too

Maybe Claire "died" this time because what happened to her was worse than what happened before. After her accidents it takes a little while for her body to heal. This time probably just took longer.

She was impaled by the branch when she was "dead". When that was removed, she was miraculously awakened. I thought that was an interesting side note about her power and her weakness.

Something is fishy about Claire's "autopsy." I've never actually done one, but I've observed plenty (forensics classes)...

Correct me if I'm wrong, but from what I saw, the "weapon" would have been removed BEFORE the victim was opened up...bagged and tagged to prevent further contamination...

And why was it dark in the room? I don't think it's a real autopsy. Maybe it's even a dream of some sort?

I think the reason she "died" was because the stick or branch was preventing her from regenerating. Once it was removed, she was able to heal?

ETA: I probably should have said that it could also have been done the way it was shown for the shock value. I have to learn to suspend reality sometimes!

And I read in TV Guide that Peter's power is going to be (spoiler highlight to read)...

the ability to absorb other people's powers. That's why he couldn't fly or levitate until he and Nathan confronted each other last week. Either way...whatever, it's all speculation so far and I can't wait to see how it all unfolds! :teeth:

The guy in the bar did have a necklace on with the symbol on the computer/paintings. He is also in the preview for next week with the cop/mindreader and Claire's dad. They must take him (cop) from the bar after he passed out.

On the answering machine Syler tells the professor the hunger is getting worse and he can't stop it. Is he eating the brains to gain powers? He also tells the professor it is his fault he is this way.

I also think the neighbor with the short dark hair is bad. She just seems too nice.

Good call on the Jekyll and Hyde reflection thing! I totally missed that.

yes..Mohinder is kind of cute, but that voice! he could chat with me all day. Just read me the phone book babay!

I finally got to watch Monday nights episode. Awesome!!!! Although I did find that last scene with Claire a little disturbing.

"Viewers Balk at Networks' Time Demands

Oct 10, 4:57 PM (ET)

By DAVID BAUDER
NEW YORK (AP) - Broadcast networks have asked for a serious commitment this fall - and so far viewers are balking. The five top broadcasters introduced 12 new hour-long dramas that are serials, mysteries or otherwise advance a larger story each week. They join several hits that already fall into that category, such as "Lost,""Prison Break" and "Desperate Housewives."

So far only two such shows, NBC's "Heroes" and CBS'"Jericho," can rightly be said to have exceeded expectations. CBS'"Smith" has already been canceled and NBC's "Kidnapped" was told the end is near.

Other slow starters include ABC's "The Nine" and "Brothers & Sisters," NBC's "Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip" and a handful that need only a glance at their titles to see the obvious debt to Fox's "24": "Standoff,""Vanished" and "Runaway."

"They threw up too much at once and there's only a certain amount of commitment that viewers are willing to make," said Steve Sternberg, analyst for Magna Global.

Many of these shows came about because networks are concerned that the popularity of procedural dramas like "Law & Order" and "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation" may be fading, he said. Those shows also skew older, and the networks hope to entice younger viewers with mysteries and adventure, he said.

"Jericho" and "Heroes" have done well so far because of canny scheduling: they're on at a time fans of their genres have few other options, he said.

The flip side is NBC's highly-acclaimed "Friday Night Lights," whose 7.2 million viewers last week represented the smallest premiere audience of any new show on ABC, CBS and NBC, according to Nielsen Media Research.

"Why would NBC debut 'Friday Night Lights' - a show about sports - on the first night of the baseball playoffs?" Sternberg asked.

There are no new comedy hits this fall. But unlike the dramas, the networks are being extremely careful introducing its new comedies. NBC waited until this week to debut Tina Fey's new sitcom, and ABC put off two new comedies it had planned to start in September.

The serial glut is having its obvious shakeout, noted David Bianculli, television critic for The New York Daily News.

"You don't have to wait 22 or even 13 weeks to guess how most of these shows will end: badly," he wrote on Tuesday.

The networks have a problem: How do you cancel a show that has obviously failed without alienating the few fans who have invested time in a story and want to know how it ends? NBC struck upon a novel approach with "Kidnapped." The network told producers to wrap up the story within 13 episodes and moved the show to Saturday, an otherwise dead time on TV now usually devoted to reruns."

Looks like our little show here is a surprising hit! Even before I read this article, I had noticed a lack of half hour comedies. Other than "The Office" and "My Name is Earl", I don't watch any other 1/2 hour sitcoms. All my other favorites are hour long drama or reality shows.
