Official "Heroes" discussion thread - Caution: Speculation and Potential Spoilers

Wow! What a great episode. I really liked it. It was like 6 degrees meets X-Men meets the 4400. Hiro cracked me up. What a great character. He reminds me of so many sci-fi geeks I know.

I really liked Hayden's character. She was very good last night :thumbsup2 She's probably the most interesting character for me so far with her powers and her family and her age. That's a lot of stuff for a teen to deal with so she must be a really good actress to pull that all off believably.

I got to wonder about the taxi driver - how did he get to the US so quickly and learned NYC streets? illegal immigrant?

What's with Ali Larter's (the blonde)super power? DH and I were debating what it was and we still couldn't figure it out.

Maybe her split personality thing is like an Incredible Hulk type of power... Anyone else have any ideas?

I can't wait to see who else discovers their powers! I like Super Hiro too!

i was wondering why nobody mentioned her earlier in the thread. her parts of the show had me nearly hiding under the blanket! lol, i'm such a huge scaredy cat!
i thought the show was excellent and i'm not what you would consider a sci-fi fan at all. can't wait until next week to see it again! :thumbsup2

A local radio station was discussing that this morning. The conclusion is that her character is like Dr. Jekyll/Mr. Hyde. If you say the movie "A League of Extraordinary Gentlemen", you know what I am talking about. Jekyll was able to see his other persona in a reflection, but he was the only one to see it. And when he would blank out Hyde would take over.

Just wanted to let everyone know that they will be airing the first episode again tonight at 8pm. You can also see it online for free at NBC.com. All you comic book geeks should check out the website. They have an online only graphic novel.

Signing in here. Another fan. I thought they did a great job with the first episode. They did enough character development to make it interesting and not cheesy. Also, you can tell they put money in it with the locations and different studio shoots. It isn't all bad green screen shots.

It will be interesting to see what happens to Peter. On the site synopsis they say one person can see things happen in the future (not the artist guy too). So maybe his power is not flying but seeing what might happen.

Also, I think that Nathan and Ali are going to turn bad. Nathan just has that "all for me" type of personality. I think he'll end up abusing his power for his gain and bring Ali along for the ride. However, Ali's character will be conflicted with it. That will give us a 3 way of teams. The good guys with powers, the bad guys with powers (will also lead to a brother-brother match up) and the non-power people who want to study them.

If the first episode is any indication, then this is going to be a great season. :thumbsup2

As for Niki, I posted the following theory in this thread

She's like the Hulk, but instead of a physical transformation, her personality changes. Instead of being passive and gentle, she's aggressive and brutal, and it's this other personality that has the powers. My guess is it's superstrength of some level. We've seen flight, teleportation, invulnerability/regeneration, precognition, and soon telepathy. The one power we haven't seen a hint of yet is the most obvious -- superstrength.

I think we'll see some of these characters develop into bad guys, but I'm not sure who yet. Nathan may be too obvious. Niki will probably struggle to control her abilities. I'm not sure if that will bring her into conflict with the others, but most likely it will.

I thought it was like the Hulk, but DH wonders if the other half is a completely separate entity because there was blood on the reflection, but not on her.

I found episode one interesting but a little disjointed. Thank goodness they blanketed the summer with a TON of commercials for the show, so we would know what's going on. My guess is that the show will zoom along after this, and I will definitely be along for the ride.

The brothers: So Nathan can fly...totally thought it would be his little bro. My guess is that little bro's power is empathy. He can feel what others feel (he even said he could feel his brother was hurt from 300 miles away).

Claire: She may well turn out to be the "team leader" if a team ever forms. She's tough, she's smart and her power is nifty! PLUS, Daddy's the bad guy...

Hiro: What's not to love about this infectiously enthusiastic dude? I dig him. Will he eventually learn to control his power like Nightcrawler? Bamf!...hehehehe

Nikki: Jekyl and Hyde. Totally. I hope the video tape shows us something next week.

Artist guy (what's his name again?): Well duh, he can see the future...or at least paint it.

Interesting.

My DD couldn't wait to see this new show because of the commercials. We found it so intriguing that I let her stay up until it was over. I like how they all started in different locations but are linking together in one way or another. When the politician brother could fly, I felt bad for the younger brother.... "oh, sure, you can fly, too. What didn't you get?"

I can't wait to learn more about the Indian professor who went missing.

This will hold my interest on Monday nights.

Subscribing! Our NBC affiliate showed the Saints game last night(Woot 23-3!) so I will be tuning in tonight!

I really enjoyed last nights episode and looking forward to next week.

I also liked the first episode. I will try to rewatch it this weekend. I love Hiero. He is going to be a great character and the Star Trek references are simply great. This show has a great deal of promise.

Great show. Perhaps third best new show of the year. I do wonder if they can start the show one way, and then switch to another approach when this one runs out of steam (which won't be that far down the road, AFAIC).

We both really loved the show, but we're both into this kind of genre. Not exactly unbiased reviewers. ;)

I don't believe the professor is dead. I would venture to guess that if they are going to have some fo them "turn" it would be the two girls.

The teaser for the next episode was interesting. 9th Wonders? We figured they were all going to have link, they were really pushing the "six degrees of super hero separation" angle pretty hard.

Finally found this thread and all these time, I thought I was the only one watching "Heroes". Stupid of me. It is definitely "what the?" kind of series. Love it.

Heroes could even take its place on Sci-Fi.... That sure would make sense to me.

I saw something on Sci-Fi the other night...they're showing the pilot episode tonight (Friday) at 7.

Then Doctor Who after that!

I love the Sci-Fi channel and am looking forward to the new season of Dr. Who.

I can see that! :teeth:

I'm kind of sad that Christopher Eccleston isn't returning, though. I really liked him. But that's how it goes with you Doctors, huh?

The show is almost like X-men and X-files blended together. Couldn't believe that it was the older brother who could fly ? Was Nikki's son reading some kind of comic book in the livingroom? I think that was quite a coincident too??!!
