Yes, it's yet another serialized drama, but I'm hopeful about this one. Maybe it's because I'm a self-confessed comic book geek, but from everything I've read and seen so far the concept is intriguing at the least. I just hope the execution -- acting, writing, and production -- are done well.

I know what the concept reminds me of, but I'll wait until I see some other comics fans reply before saying.

I'm going to watch. Do you know when this starts?

Starts Monday at 9:00 on NBC.

We'll give it a shot via the DVR. Total rip off of the X-Men, but we both liked the X-Men. Maybe it will surprise us and be worthy of wacthing every week. I thought Lost looked kid of funky back when we were only seeing previews of the pilot episode.

I am going to watch. Personally I have always wanted to be a super hero.

They had the first episode up on the Web earlier in the week. I think it has potential, but not sure it will have enough of a following to sustain itself.

We are looking forward to seeing this! Thanks for the reminder, especially since Mondays are kinda blah around here anyway.

We're definitely going to watch. There are a few new shows we've seen already that I don't think should last that long, so we need to keep up on all the serialized ones that we might be interested, just in case they're the only ones left! :)

Well, the major networks haven't been kind to genre shows -- especially NBC; anyone remember Earth 2? Still, maybe NBC will consider the success that recent superhero movies like X-Men have had and give Heroes a chance to find an audience.

A couple of things I wonder about, though. First, this show isn't an adaptation like X-Men, with previous source material that people may be somewhat familiar with. Second, I'm assuming this will be like Smallville and we won't see the characters running around in tights and capes. Will either of these help or hurt?

Ultimately, it's going to come down to the writing and acting. Whether it's a successful portrayal of "what would happen if ordinary people suddenly discovered they possess super powers" will depend on how well it's portrayed. One thing that has me hopeful is the involvement of Jeph Loeb. He's a comic book writer who has also worked as a producer on Smallville and Lost. He understands both mediums, and maybe his participation is a good sign.

I've got the DVR set and ready to go. Heroes is the only new series that I'm really looing forward to!

Here's what I don't understand: Why wouldn't they exert the power of emminent domain, and move Battlestar Galactica to NBC? Heroes could even take its place on Sci-Fi.... That sure would make sense to me.

There's enough abuse of eminent domain, Bicker ... I don't think it needs to be extended to intellectual property. :p

Although I am still ticked at the local cable company for moving Sci-Fi from basic to digital after the initial BG mini and before the new series started ....

My biggest concern is that I want to see BG in HD. It is rebroadcast on UHD, but who knows when? And there is no guarantee that (1) UHD will rebroadcast this next season, and (2) UHD will even exist in another year.

I'm going to watch -- but I'm a tv fiend -- I've got tivo and two vcrs and still can't get enough.

Plus I like some of the actors on the show.

Yes, but it my radio station that I listen to keep playing those stupid commericals for the show, I'm not going to.

I have it programmed on Tivo already. Hopefully, it'll be good -- the basic plot seems to have promise.

Yes I do and have the DVD. Great show even without an conclusion to the story.

I would love for that to happen, but are the ratings good enough to stack up against those of other two big networks or are they only Sc-Fi channel good?

Having it in HD would be a dream come true. We watched them again on DVD and the quality is there, just lost because of lack of HD on SCi-Fi.

It's hard to gauge, because of course a show on Sci-Fi won't get broadcast network ratings. However, BG is among the best rated shows in the history of cable television, so if anything can make the cross-over it'll be BG. I personally believe that BG would do better in the ratings than Heroes would.

That's really my beef -- I'd wait for the DVD, but the DVD isn't HD either.

Started another thread about this show before I saw this thread. Gotta remember - search before posting, search before posting. DW only has to remind me of things three times. :confused3
