Official Glass Slipper Challenge Thread

Congratulations to all that signed up today! Hopefully on the 11th I can officially say I will be joining you all...

For those already signed up...what are the extra commemorative items that were being offered... need to know how much extra of my paycheck I need to hold! The challenge looked to be $288 when all is said and done but what about pins, car magnets? I love the idea of items that commemorate the inaugural race. Any must haves that princesses regretted not getting last year that we should prepay for?

I avoid purchasing any of the items when I register. Saw pins and a necklace.

I will be snagging a Dooney purse when offered. Afterall, I booked a DCL cruise this year to run the Castaway Cay 5k and buy the DCL Dooney purse.

I wondered about all the items - but why no pictures? I think the medals are all I really want, but I am curious if they have pictures anywhere before the chance to purchase ends. I don't collect pins, not a purse girl, but the necklace intrigued me. But I'd like to see what I'm buying. I'm figuring a picture would make me decide against it. Maybe I found my answer right there;).

And the castaway cay was fun, and Hot! 90 degrees 90% humidity at 9:00. Tough for a New Englander like me!

< followed the advice on googling >>active princess registration 2014<<

Had no issues registering for the GSC with the disney visa discount (liked the WDW Jan discount of 20 off better but its better than the cast discount of 10)

As for the preordered merch- I've gotten to tired of seeing them the month after at the outlets for 1/2 to 1/3rd the price so I'll take my chances at the expo for anything I can't live without and the rest Ill get later..

Eh, the necklace isn't all that impressive in my opinion...I ordered it at the first Tink and haven't ordered one for a race since...have seen plenty available to buy at the expo as well. Id say if you're on the fence about it, skip it...it's really nothing fancy.

So 6.5 hours later I've gone from elated I was able to register for the GSC to "Oh my God what have I done?" I assume this is a fairly normal response for a first timer? I know I have enough of a fitness and short run base that I can get it done with training, but darn if it does not seem a bit more daunting now that it is real:idea:

It's a normal response for a first timer AND a repeater! Lol :). I'm super excited for an hour or two and them I'm like 'WTH am I doing this to myself again?' Ha ha...and I'm actively avoiding thinking too much on the fact that this will be the first back to back race I've ever done and why on earth I thought that would be a good idea! But you better believe if they announce one for Tink I'll be all over it! There's just no explanation...;)

I'm in for GSC and Tink! In my elation, I am trying very hard NOT to think about that credit card bill coming up in a few weeks - whew! That's a lot of money to pay just to wear myself out.

Speaking of credit card, I'm a little miffed that the Visa discount is better than the DVC one - go figure!

Congratulations everyone who got in today and who will get in soon. We'll probably get to know each other pretty well these next few months.

Welcome, Coach - it'll be wonderful to get your input. I vow not to complain about all of these distances, though, since you'll be running a full, two halves, and two 10Ks within 6 weeks of each other - yowza!

CC 5k was brutally hot and I'm from Florida!

The necklace looks like 2 charms on a chain. Nothing too special. Now if it looked like the Nike 1/2 Marathon Tiffany's necklace that would be a different story!

As an FYI (and not to start any flame wars), the registration was not just restricted to AP/DVC/Disney Visa holders. Anyone can register. So no waiting til the 11th is necessary.

Not trying to incite either but just curious if you know people who were not AP or DVC holders?

I have a question about the race retreat. I did not register for it as I don't have the $$ for it right now, but hope to add it later. My question is will there be a retreat for both the 10K and the half? My understanding was that it would only be for the half. If that's the case, then the GSC RR is a rip off -- its $185 whereas its only $120 for the half. Unless I missed something and there is some additional benefit for GSC participants:confused3 I did email runDisney about it, but I don't expect a response back anytime soon.

Nic, I paid $185. It is for both races. On the form it says GSC RR.

I'm in!

My BRF (best running friend) is not and she registered today - no discount though. I am a Disney Visa, AP, and DVC member, and I also registered today - with the Visa discount. However, it was only by Google-ing that we found the information - I didn't receive any emails or other notifications about early registration. :confused3

There is nothing on the registration where you enter any membership #s, while they ask its simply for demographics (ie the cast discount works if you don't click if your a cast member) as its been listed for every race I've ever done with run disney.. I registered with the dvc link for the marathon last year with no issues and I'm definitely not dvc (roommate is) I'd register with no issues and not a 2nd thought

I do not have an AP or am a DVC member, and I registered yesterday. I do have a Disney Visa, but I don't think that mattered.

I would think the Slipper and 10k will be fast sell outs....

I would encourage those wanting to run either one to enter sooner rather than later.

Oh V, we heart you, too. After all, we are all a bunch of RunD enablers! LOL
Love your post! I cried. I love when athletes (or anyone in the spotlight) gets attention for positive actions.
:grouphug: You guys are awesome! Best Internet-enabler-friends a girl could ask for!

::yes:: If I'm any indication, that goes for ANY timer, lol! I have that moment after I register for every race. It'll pass!

It took all day and a great cast member but I AM IN. Yea!!!
:yay:

I'm an AP holder, DVC member and and Disney Visa holder... I still haven't heard a peep via email.

Me too on all of the above. Thank goodness for the DIS!

Is it too soon to be getting antsy for a peek at the Glass Slipper meda???? :rotfl2:

I had my "OMG what did I do?!" moment yesterday. Then I went and ran it off and since I was running next to some high school athletes and held my own, my psyche has returned to normal levels of "OMG can I do this" IF I work hard enough.

Heck no about the medal....I think it's one of the main reasons I sign up for some races!

And if you ran ANYTHING next to high school runners, then I'm sure you'll be just fine come February.
