*****Official February 2015 Thread! Come check in and chat!*****

I'll update the first post and add everyone plus make all the changes later today!

I suppose I'm just in the minority then since I don't think it's all that bad (but then again none of those are my favourites) IMO if guests are looking for less closures they should travel during peak times.

I still think closures are better than traveling during peak times. But that doesn't mean I can't be annoyed that there are twice as many as there were the last time we traveled in the off-season.

Obviously if it were THAT big of deal, I would change my trip. We even have back up dates booked at our hotel in April (partly because we wanted to see what things would be closed and also in case anyone gets sick and we need to reschedule.)

I am mostly just upset about Winnie the Pooh and the train at this point. I made peace with Peter Pan a while back. If Small World doesn't reopen on the 6th, that will be awful as well.

Just booked flights for our dapper day trip, 2/28-3/3, YAYYYYY!! While cruising expedia for hotel deals, I snagged the red lion for 60/night. Hard to beat that great deal, even though I really would like to take advantage of the dapper day rates at DLH or GCH. Decisions, decisions....

That's a great rate for the Red Lion!

The list of closures isn't actually that high. Off season is usually when refurbs happen. We missed the matterhorn and splash 3 years in a row and 2 of those big thunder was also down. And there isn't any reason for Disney to offer any sort of discount, they usually have some off season hotel discounts but they aren't typically "amazing". People are going to go regardless.

I get people being upset that Critter Country is closed but it makes zero sense to have the Hungry Bear or Pooh Corner open when both Splash and Winnie are down. As for the castle, the website is still showing the walkthrough open.

Personally I'm just happy that the railroad will be back up once my trip rolls around. My first ride, every trip, is always once around the park on the train.

Oh, also, I've changed my hotel. (Can someone please update the first post??)

After much debate I've switched from the GCH to the DLH. We had an awful experience at the GCH a few years back and I thought, hey, I'll try it again... but I can't bear the thought so I've switched. Which considering I'm going it solo this time around is great because it leaves me more money to spend while I'm out shopping.

I also just found out that a good friend of mine is going with her DH and DD (first trip) around the same time as me, so we will meet up for lunch or something. Which is a most excellent surprise!

I happen to agree with you, while there are a number of refurbs for this February, I don't find them terrible. We managed to miss BTMRR 3 (or was it 4?) trips in a row and Matterhorn at least twice. I'm sad to miss PP and Soarin' because those are two of my personal favourites but I figure it could always be worse...I could be at work!

I've also changed your hotel on the first post. :)

I have recently stumbled upon Doctor Who. Decided to check out Karen's work bc of your post (I am also going to DL in February) and I am in love with her work. Thank you for posting that!!! Just ordered 3 shirts.

OMG, is she not amazing?!?!

At last count, I have the Seagulls have the phone box, Nanny Who, Falling (Alice one), Who wants to build a snowman and Stowaway. I've got other Who shirts but those are my only Karen Hallion ones. DH has Leia's Corruptible Mortal State, which he loves.

I sort of agree, but honestly I think this is going to push us into an AP for this year. We are going to be at the VGC from the 6-11 :)

Added you!

Count me into your minority!

I have a question - is Fantasmic the same as the nightly fireworks?
I'm still trying to figure out what dining to do, especially since Ariel's is closed during our visit. We're doing Surfs Up and they may be it.

No, fantasmic is a show with the boat on the river, it is separate from the fireworks

So if we book a Blue Bayou meal, can we ensure that we get the earlier show fast pass? How does that work? I have a 3 year old who won't wait for a 10pm show. Or maybe there will be even earlier shows in Feb?

Everyone is entitled to their opinion but I'm tired of people on here saying 'travel during peak times' then. Some of us don't have the luxury of travelling whenever we want. The closures are for such a long time, they're taking up a good chunk of the year. I'm allowed to be upset and annoyed.

I've booked Blue Bayou for Fantasmic and I have no idea what the show time is....I guess that's answered when I rock up to Disneyland? I'll have a 13 month old so we'll be trying for the first show if it's an option.

Try spending atleast $6000 (not including spending money) for the trip of a life time, others on here have spent more, only to find many things closed.

Coming from Australia, we picked February to come over, as the flights out of Australia were so much cheaper in February, as it is the end off our 6 week christmas school holidays.

I never for a moment gave any thought to refurbs nor the anniversary, none of that crossed my mind. This trip is a graduation present for my daughter, now with so many closures, I feel I have let her down, I promised her an amazing time in Disneyland, will she still get that - I just don't know.

I have saved up all her school life, for this trip, to change our dates would cost a fortune, we may never ever get back, this is our one and only time.

So easy to say "go in the peak times" well I for one thought Disney was full on all the time, I didn't realise that they had a low season. I don't eat, live and breathe Disneyland - So shoot me.

I am still excited to go, but very disappointed that we will miss so much.

We leave in exactly 1 month! Woohoo! I suppose I will probably buy some tickets soon. It's looking like Orbitz will have the best deal, right?

Is exciting isn't it...We leave Australia in exactly 1 month, this time in a month, I will be in the airport waiting for our plane

:thumbsup2 Spot on...after saving for 13 yrs for this trip, I am allowed to be upset and annoyed. The Castle was the last for me, I was quite upset last night about it.

And I am pretty sure, you have paid more than I have, for your trip, from a previous post

This broke my heart. I feel lucky that this is our second trip, but we treat every overseas trip like it's our last. Reading your post was like 'that's us too!!!!'. I really hope you have an amazing holiday!

Thunder ranch BBQ is fun and different. Surfs Up is a great choice!

I don't think that people are not entitled to be upset about the closures, I just happen to not be too upset. I absolutely think that people are allows to be upset, especially given the constraints of time and money that some people here have.

I just try not to spend a lot of time worrying about things that I can't change. The rides will be open or they will not but I can't change that. The only thing I can change is how I react.

It would be really nice if Disney would offer a discount because of the closures but I can't remember them ever doing that, sadly.

So, please complain away, I get needing to vent but please don't get annoyed because not everyone feels the same way.

I *think* that during the week there is only a 7:30 pm show and I have heard that you can request a fast pass for the earlier show when you get to Blue Bayou.

I am trying not to get upset over it, I am trying to not let it bring me down, but when you get others who say "well you should have booked at another time of yr" then yeah it does get on your goat and we have every right to get annoyed.

It isn't a case of "just pop back over" or "just change your dates"

Totally get that, I know how lucky I am that we are able to get down to Disneyland as often as we can afford it. I remember when we took our first trip in 2011, we had no idea how our son would cope with Disneyland so we went all out and spent a fortune just in case it was our only chance.

I don't know, I think what I was trying to say is that I try really hard to not let life get me down even though our little family has had a bunch of stuff to deal with over the last 8 years including me being diagnosed with breast cancer, almost losing our business after the crash in 2008 and our son being diagnosed as autistic...all of that within the space of 3 years. So, I try and just let things not get to me.

I know that probably makes me sound a bit like Pollyanna but really, I'm not!

Took some time today & ordered my DH some Disney inspired t-shirts & 1 sweatshirt for upcoming trip. If you haven't checked out OldGlory.com or redbubble.com they are fab! :hippie:

Which ones did you get?

Trust me. There is so much to do you will have an amazing time regardless. if ya don't think so, just look me up! I'll be there the same time you are! IMO Radiator Races is the best attraction on property and its open. So many times we needlessly worry about things and they turn out fine. Enjoy your trip, and don't worry so much.
