I *think* it's the DHS parking lot before you hit the pathway up by the Boardwalk (miles 23.5ish) but I'm not totally sure about that.Everyone using travel providers is making me nervous for how packed it might be.
In other news, the friend I'm planning to do Dopey with brought up a good question. What's the last sweep point on the Marathon course?
We last did the marathon in 2015 and saw a woman whip out an Smucker's Uncrustables PB&J about halfway through. Food for thoughtI recognize that by mile 13 I probably want something to refuel that isn't fuel.... so any chance to get a churro or something similar? Or does husband have to stand along the exit of AK with a churro for me and cheer as I take it?
Any recommendations on what to do for food fueling?![]()

If it doesn't make you feel awkward, could you PM me what that cost? If it does, no worries, I totally understand. My friends & I decided to book with a travel agent over the weekend, so it's official: I am doing Dopey!!! We are staying at the Beach Club.
Cool! That was my guess because I couldn't think of a spot to do it after that point.I *think* it's the DHS parking lot before you hit the pathway up by the Boardwalk (miles 23.5ish) but I'm not totally sure about that.
Definitely. My friend is a DVC member and thinking about using her points though so that makes it harder for me.I expected th demand to be up somewhat for the anniversary races and I think the sour taste that this year's challenges left is going to add to that demand. With TAs offering early registration for the same price as general registration (or slightly cheaper, even) and the need to get a resort room anyway, it made sense to go ahead and register. Now I don't have to worry about the mayhem of AP or general registration.
Hiii all!! Just read through all 9 lovely pages. Pending all goes well for registration, I'll be in for my first Dopey this year! I've been planning to do Dopey 2018 since I finished the DDD in DL (Coast to Coast with GSC) in 2015 - the anniversary medals were darling and I started dreaming about the Dopey anniversary bling - plus I knew it would give me lots and lots of time to prepare. Fast forward a year and a half and here we are! I am SO nervous about registration after reading all of these posts (I knew I should have called to register last week), but I am crossing my (quick - hopefully) fingers, can get me registered on Valentines Day as an 6 day early birthday present to myself. I've done 5 half marathons (including 2 runDisney challenges) but I'm hoping to get a better proof of time for corral placement to give me ample time for pictures and to be slow if needed, so I've officially started half marathon training last week! I also just joined the Strava club that was mentioned earlier in this post - although I'm indoors on the treadmill lately (it has been really freakin cold here, although is starting to warm up), but am excited to follow all you pros in the Strava club! Anyways - I look forward to chatting and training and bonding with you all over the next almost year!![]()
and I feel like this will be many of us on 2/14 -

I just read your whole TR from this years race.
First of all - you're fast.
Second - you're fast at writing up a TR!
Congrats on all the PRs!
Not crazy at all. If you are properly trained to run a marathon, the Dopey should not be a problem. Good luck in your training!I'm thinking of doing the Dopey in 2018, but let me know if I'm crazy...
I'm new to running (started in March 2016 with couch to 5K and joined a running group that led me to my first half in October 2016). I signed up to do the 10K and half this last marathon weekend. Obviously, we didn't run the half, but I did earn my bling running around Saratoga Springs and Downtown Disney to get my 13.1 in. I have never run a full marathon but think I can do it. Running seems to get easier and faster for me every month. Anyway, I thought maybe I would do my first marathon locally in October to get my nerves out and then Dopey in January. Am I crazy to jump right to Dopey or should I consider doing my first marathon this year and Dopey in 2019?
Nope. My wife and I signed up in 2012 to do the 2013 Goofy as our first ever marathon. We only ran our first ever half marathon that October to work a few of the nerves out, and prior to that only I had run even 10 miles that spring (April 2012). We immediately started training to build up our miles before the official training began and survived both races.Am I crazy to jump right to Dopey or should I consider doing my first marathon this year and Dopey in 2019?

Thanks for the confirmation! This is correct.
There is also a "Parade Bus" located inside the backstage area you enter to access the World Showcase, right before the last water stop, but that is only used for self-sweep/medical and to transport volunteers working that water stop.
I so need to get in on Dopey '18. I did it in 2016 (first marathon, too, and only my second half!) and have unfortunately gotten sidetracked with life/work and haven't been able to keep going like I wanted to. I've actually put all the weight I lost in 2015 training back on after the race, and back right where I started (actually a little worse off).
Finances are tight (aren't they always?) but I really need this. The fact it's just days after my son's 5th birthday and it's really the last time we'd be able to do Disney during the school year.... I'm working every angle here![]()
