Official DL July 2015 thread

Happy Father's Day to all of the dads waiting for their July trip! We made these Mickey cinnamon buns with my dad this morning!

Ok, soooo rmemeber how I was SO excited to add on more days? Now I'm a little freaked that I won't be able to fill the time. Any area pros have ideas for things we can do without having a car?

Remind me, are you looking to fill days in Anaheim or in Monterey?
Anaheim-we had 4 park days and added on 4 more days. I'm sure we'll do a little more park time, but not 4 more days. So I'm looking for some lower-key stuff in case we get worn out!

Nighttime Shows!!

Paint the Night Parade-8:50, 11:00

Disneyland Forever Fireworks 9:30

World of Color-9:00, 10:15

Fantasmic-9:00, 10:45

And no chance of renting a car for a few days? It might be worth adding a car for 2-3 days and head to beach, etc.

I have 7 nights planned at Disneyland. 2 days for travel, 5 park days and 1 rest day where we will swim and hang around Downtown Disney, etc.

I was actually wondering about public transportation and if there was any way to get to a beach. Renting a car is not an impossibility, but we decided to pay more money to not rent a car and stay in walking distance to the parks. If we did rent a car, we may cancel the last few days at Del Sol and change to something cheaper. (The first 5 nights at at Hojos.) We have 8 full days, and I definitely want to spend some time in Downtown, so that's on the list.

I think there is some public transportation. There is also uber, which is often an affordable way to get around (depends on how far you want to go). With a family though, i tend to find renting a car cheaper than public transportation. Of course, that all depends on a million factors. e.g. if you have to pay $2 each for a bus each way, that's $12 round trip. Sometimes a rental car is cheaper, sometimes it is more expensive.

Have you looked into Knotts Berry Farm? I know shuttles go there. There are also tour buses you can take - but I tend to find renting a car cheaper than doing the tours.

I did eventually get mine (after paying UPS $5 to reschedule the delivery)! Technically, they are "plastic" tickets, not paper. We got Mickey, Minnie and Goofy on ours - I really like the Pluto one, though!

Received my package today. Costco Travel sent 60th Goofy and Pluto Luggage tags (so cute). We received 1 Mickey, 1 Minnie, 1 Goofy, 1 Pluto, and 1 Donald Duck Park Hopper. Love Minnie and Donald the best!

Learned something new today. Pass holders can book packages. They just book it with tickets and then remove the tickets. So, I was able to book a package at the Carousel and add character dining vouchers. I'll get the luggage tags (and Visa tote bag) plus I can pay for it through the vacation account which is so much easier than trying to pay with a bunch of gift cards at check out.

We're going July 22 and 23. SO excited. I've been going through withdrawals...it's been over 6 months since we've been to DLR, and a year since DCA. As former local passholders, it's been a shock to the system to be away for so long! (I know that sounds ridiculous - just being honest!)

Can't WAIT to see Paint the Night, Disneyland Forever fireworks, and WOC - Celebrate!

I learned that 5 days is the max for tickets-I had no clue!!! So now I need 3 days of stuff to fill in the area. I'll take any suggestions!! Preferably nothing more than a half hour or so drive (we need to rent a car now)

Looks like lanyards and pins aren't mailed to you with the vacation packages anymore. Just got my Disney Travel package (via Costco Travel) yesterday, and there is just a voucher to pick up lanyards and pins at Downtown Disney (WOD or Pin Traders) or at the Park.

Anyone has experience picking up Vacation Package lanyard and pins at WOD or Pin Traders? How easy is that, and how long would it take? We are hoping to pick up in Downtown Disney so we don't have to pick up while in the park, but we are arriving in Anaheim pretty late the night before.

You are lucky! I got 6 identical Goofy's! :-)

It is very quick and easy. You just give them the voucher and tell them how many are in your party. They will then give you that many pin/lanyard packages.
