Well, the time has finally come!![]()
Our trip is in 11 days and after a few days of trying, I made contact with Chef Jessi over at the Boardwalk Bakery to discuss the design of my cakes. Yes, that's right, cakes! After consulting the resident DIS know-it-all when it comes to cake...I decided that one mini-cake for our trip wasn't quite gluttonous enough, we need two!![]()

The first will be a "welcome" cake that I'm ordering for the first day of our trip. It's going to be chocolate cake with chocolate filling and buttercream icing. A Mickey Mouse inspired cake. White buttercream icing, red vertical stripes on the bottom layer, yellow polka dots on the top layer and a Mickey ears topper.
The second will be a birthday cake for DH. He's a big Philadelphia Flyers fan, so it'll be a Flyers themed cake. Red velvet with cream cheese filling and buttercream icing. I'm hoping to do black and orange banding around the bottom of each layer, have them either pipe on or use fondant letters to spell out "FLYERS" on the side of the bottom layer with the Flyers logo on side of the top layer and a "29" on top of the cake.
I'm not gonna lie, I'm pretty excited for the cakes and I really think ordering two different mini-cakes instead of one 6-8 inch cake is the way to go since it's just the two of us. We'll get to see two completely different creations and get to try two different cake flavors.
I'll be sure to post pictures when I get back!
Where would you order a birthday cake from if you want it delivered to CRT for dinner?
Can you get the Chocolate Slipper dessert in Milk or dark chocolate and not white choclate I want to have one for my DD's 14th b-day at CRT for dinner.
Call Private Dining at the Contemporary Resort: 407-824-2955
At CRT you can try to request it in milk chocolate, it just sometimes seems like it's random what you get. Call CRT directly at 407-824-4477.
Ok... I want to order a custom cake for Ohana for Saturday. I know it is a little late so who do I need to call? Do I email Brian at CR or is it through CR? Or does Poly do their own?HELP! Thanks!

If I wanted to order a mini cake and have it deleiverd to the POR and have it there for us who would I call for that?
Or have it delivered to us at dinner to maybe the Coral Reef...Who would I call for there?
Has anyone ordered a special cake and had it sent to Biergarten? Not sure if this is possible. I know they have a selection of standard cakes there, but I was thinking of doing something special if possible. Any info is greatly appreciated!
Just asking the question because I know the disclaimer at the beginning of the thread that pricing listed is not necessarily Disney approved...I spoke with a wonderful chef at AKL to place an order for my daughter's birthday cake on 3/2. We discussed design and she was onboard but sadly cannot create a Jack Skellington from fondant (due to copyright and they must get him exact since he is Disney) and indicated that she could do a white chocolate screen print. I offered to purchase a figurine and have it shipped to her. She also put somone on the hunt to see if a white chocolate mold was available because I am not thrilled with the screen print concept.
Another person called me back with the price breakdown.
Cake - $45
fondant - $65
decorations - $30
flavor variation - $15
total - $155
Now I understand the $15 for selecting a strawberry cake. (Not strawberry and custard filling but an actual strawberry flavored cake.) But we discussed a Jack Skellington cake and she said that she would do thick black stripes with out of black fondant and make the cake purple fondant. I sent over 9 different designs and that was really the most simplistic. She offered to put 3 fondant pumpkins on the bottom but that was really it.
$155 just doesn't add up for me. I did send the chef an inquiry and was very respectful. I stated that I had ordered several fancy cakes and my last 2 were fondant and one included figurines and the other white chocolate screen prints. Both were $100 total. I hope that I don't seem unreasonable but I'm just not certain if I can go through with the cost being that much. Honestly, there isn't much to cut back. I have seen some amazing cakes for $100 and I wish that I felt more confidant that $155 would be one for the record books. Does anyone else have experience with AKL cakes? Care to share a picture or direct me if you have a link on the summary page?
Thanks!
