Ordered our cake this week...Red fondant with white snow, similar to the penguin Christmas cake on this thread, with a Mickey snowman, some Christmas trees and a fondant banner with "Merry Christmas" written on it. We're dining at The Wave on Christmas eve, so I can't wait to see it! Chef Brian was sooo easy to work with! Price is $100--will post pics when we return.:thumbsup2

wow I ordered something similar just Pluto and snow flakes and I was quoted $150 did you talk to Brian or just email? Mine was all email I'm hoping to get a phone call though it just doesn't seem final until you speak with someone:confused3

So we're 4 weeks out from our trip, and I need help!

Is 4 weeks out too soon to call?

Please help me, I want this to go well. Help me script my call!
This is what I want:
I want a 6" round "Anniversary" Mickey's Delight (fondant covered) cake, just like our Wedding Cake. I don't have our BEO anymore. We're staying at the Polynesian, eating at Ohana, and we also have a reservation at 1900 Park Fare. The only reason I'm keeping the 1900 Park Fare reservation is because of the cake, so if I can have it delivered to Ohana... that would be ideal. :cloud9:

So I'm going to call the Cake Hotline. Where do I go from there? Please help! I remember talking to Pat 2 trips ago and she was less than helpful. Has she gotten a little less surly?

Skip the Cake Hotline and call GF Private Dining directly at 407-824-1951. First, tell her that you were married at WDW (that seems to help), that you want a 6-inch replica of the top layer of your cake, and that it was the Mickey's Delight style. She can pull your BEO if she needs to, but that style is pretty common. If that goes well, then mention that you'd prefer to have it delivered to Ohana.

If for some reason you meet with resistance, you can always order your cake from the Contemporary (via Private Dining) and have them deliver it to Ohana. They seem more willing to do this, and they will know how to do a Mickey's Delight cake. The only catch there is that usually they make you order an 8-inch cake. Someone mentioned getting a 6-inch cake from them recently, though, so perhaps that policy has changed.

Good luck!

When I ordered the original penguin Christmas cake from Brian, I did everything with him over email and was quoted $100. Then he asked me to phone the order in to private dining, and someone else took it down. It doesn't matter how you contact him, but the more info you can give him about what you want, the more accurate your quote will be. If $150 is too steep, ask him what he can do with a $100 budget. :thumbsup2

This is the one we had last December. It was $100.

May I ask where you got this beautiful cake? I'd love something very similar for our 21st anniversary celebration at Cali Grill. I'm planning on calling tomorrow so any info would really help.TIA:goodvibes

I called private dining and they gave me Brian's email address. After emailing him and giving all of the specifics on the cake I wanted to order, he quoted a price and told me to call private dining back. I had to give the specifics of what I wanted when I called back...sure hope I didn't leave anything off! I plan to call and confirm the order before we leave for WDW.

When you get Mickey's Delight as an anniversary cake, it usually looks like this (but may or may not include the white chocolate topper):

As a wedding cake, it looks like this:

Tried calling AKL for a cake to be delivered to our room...was quoted $24 for either a van/van or choc/choc cake. Can anyone tell me if this is similar to the one they are offering?

Thanks!

Yes, that's the one. The decorations may be different at AK though.

Hello!

We are headed to WDW next week to celebrate my 40th birthday and Thanksgiving.

We have booked the Grand 1 for a fireworks cruise for my birthday party and I have been working with Pat to get a birthday cake on board. We have come up with a design I love and a price I can live with, now I just need to decide on the flavor of cake and filling.

Any thoughts on doing a chocolate cake with the custard and strawberries filling? I think it sounds delicious, but wanted some opinions.

If anyone has had a custom cake made recently at the GF, can you tell me your flavor choices and what you thought?

Thanks!

We've done chocolate cake with strawberries and custard filling a couple times. I was unsure too - it was a marital compromise between chocoholic me and fruit and vanilla loving DH - but it was completely and utterly delicious. We like ganache on top of the combo best (even DH!).

"Freshly" made cake at Tony's Town Square on October 23, 2010. With 11 people, 7 kids we made reservations based on location and we love Lady and the Tramp.

Marble Cake, butter cream frosting and filling. 10 inch cake for $45, with floral designs for Twins 17th Birthday

Cake was beautiful, I was assured the cake was made that day when I ordered it. The frosting was creamy, but I know tastes differ, so some of my family members liked it, while others not so much.

We were universal on the actual cake...if it was freshly made, I do not know how they store it to make consistency so dry and the texture so questionable. You weren't really sure it was intended to be digested. Strategically, I had ordered this for our first night so we could enjoy left overs for the next 7 days...no one finished their first piece and what they did eat was out of courtesy, the rest was thrown out a few days later.

I have pictures, but I am having trouble with this site, I will update when I figure it out.:confused3

I was hoping to order a Mickey Mouse head cake to be delivered to our room next week at the Poly. Does anyone know if I call the cake line, private dining or the resort directly? Thanks so much!

I saw this cake on another site and want to get something similar. Would they consider this a fancy cake or ? Also our only 2 sit down meals are LaHacienda and Coral Reef. Any chance to get something like this for either of those places?

Heading to the Poly tomorrow with a cake delivery to Chef Mickeys on Wednesday! I will post pics when I get back after Thanksgiving! :thumbsup2

I ordered a cake for 2 birthdays and a first visit. It is supposed to incorporate Wishes and Fantasmic. I hope its awesome! :yay:

Called GF Private Dining a week ago - was given Pat's number & left a voicemail. But its now been a week and I haven't heard anything. Should I just wait it out a bit more or call again?

Call the resort directly and ask to be transferred to Private Dining.

Yes, that's a fancy cake. Very little chance of getting that at La Hacienda and Coral Reef because Epcot's bakery can do only the most basic styles of cake. At best you'll get something frosted in whipped cream with sprinkles and a smeary screen print. :( Where are you staying? Many of the bakeries at the Deluxe resorts can do fancy cakes, and you can also order to pick up at BoardWalk Bakery.

I decided that I wanted a cake like this for my 21st anniversary. We are celebrating at the Cali Grill on December 9th. Yesterday I called CR private dining and got Chef Brian's email. I sent him an email telling him what I would like late last night and got a reply first thing this morning. He agreed to everything I wanted and then told me I needed to call private dining and make my order. I spoke to Caroline, gave her my order, my confirmation number and cc #. She told me my order was connected to my email and that's all that Chef Brian needed. The order went like this.

6 inch chocolate cake with custard and strawberry filling.
Decorations like above picture but I also trusted his creativity.
A banner reading Dan & Linda, 21 Years of Magic
Price $75

I want to thank everyone on this thread, especially lurkyloo. I can't wait to see this cake and will post pics as soon as we return. Next...I have to Pat at GF....wish me luck.:goodvibes
