Is it possible to order a dark chocolate slipper at the GF? My DD like dark chocolate and I thought it would be nice to have with our tea.

You can request dark chocolate but they don't guarantee it. The only guarantee you get is that you get the slipper. But yes... from the GF.

You can only get those at the Boardwalk Bakery.

I am back. I will try to post pictures soon, but I got our 20th anniversary cake at the Yachtsman. I still think the price was too high, but the cake was gorgeous and super yummy!!!!! I went to the front to pay for it so dh didn't see the price, and a few servers came up to me and said they saw it in the back and it was beautiful, so I was excited. The painted Mickey topper even survived an entire day of travel and plane flight, and is now in my fridge. The cake was sooooooo big LOL, but over a few days we ate about 3/4 of it.
Just bumping, because I was wondering the same ... I've seen a cake from Wolfgang Puck's. Anyone do a Planet Hollywood one?
My DH is not fond of "Disney Food" and doesn't want to eat in their restaurants just for the cake.
I don't want to just do a pick-up though. I want something a little special for my 2 DDs - the vacation falls between their birthdays.

So I decided not to take the plunge and order a specialty cake after the mixed reviews. You would think that Disney would get their act together on this! We are spending money on other things for my DD's bday - like the BBB.
I am so grateful to this thread b/c I did just order her a chocolate slipper for 1900 PF. She will be soo excited. However, it was an ordeal. I am so glad for the disboards and Lurkyloo's knowledge (for a previously posted phone #), b/c I had to call 4 x's today before I got a person on the phone who would let me order it. Everyone kept telling me that it was only available at CRT!!!
I hope, fingers crossed that it will be the final magical touch on our trip!

Just returned late Sat. night from a great week at AKV Kidani.Before starting our trip my nieces just happen to be there the week before.Since it was their first time I decided to order them a custom cake to celebrate.Since they didn't have any specific ADR's I decided to use the Boardwalk Bakery so they can pick it up when it was ready.When I called private dining to start the process Jonathan who answer the phone and new at the job had some issues understanding what I wanted and connected me directly to the chef.I told Chef Christy that I wanted a Madhatter shape with vanilla cake,dark chocolate mousse filling and vanilla butter creme frosting covered with fondant.Colors of the fondant had to be pink,yellow,orange and blue.She had full range of the theme as I told her to do what comes out.The only mistake I did was not tell her the ages of the girls (8 and 4) as the flowers I think we to old for them.The cake was beautiful as the girls went crazy and were blown away.Chef Christy did such a great job that I ordered a cake while I was down there.I did the same thing as the first time and called Boardwalk private dining only to get a phone call from Chef Christy again to explain that I was now down in the World and it was for my girls and my cousins 2 little ones.I told her I wanted the same Madhatter shape,vanilla cake,dark chocolate mousse filling with vanilla buttercreme frosting covered with fonfant in the same colors as before.But I told her its for 3 princess' and 1 prince ages 10,5,4,2.I told her she had free range again with the theme and the only change would be a white chocolate Minnie topper painted in her traditional colors.The pictures below are what she created.They both looked and tasted great. I can't say enough about Chef Christy and her talent.The first cake cost $95 and the second cost $143....a steal from the price of $200 that I was quoted by Chef Brian at the Contemporary Bakery.

I absolutely love your minnie mouse cake!!!!! $143 seems good for a madhatter style with a painted minnie statue! I may have to go with the Boardwalk for my son's birthday cake next month......
Did you have the minnie cake at 1900 Park Fare? Did you pick it up at the Boardwalk and bring it over yourself?

So we will be at the world Sept 25-Oct 3 celebrating the 31st birthdays of twin friends at Boma's on the 26th. As a surprise we (their mom, another friend and I) decided to order them a specialty cake. So we order a 12inch round yellow cake with bavarian cream filling covered in fondant decorated with sugar flowers and with Timon and Pumbaa in a Lion King theme of sort. We just confirmed the order todaylike 30 mins ago. I'm hoping it turns out the way we are wanting it to look and taste. Fingers crossed we will soon find out. I will post pictures as soon as we get back or if I think of it I can post while we're down....stay tuned
I forgot when we called to get quote on this cake they called us back and said it would cost $75...so totally can't wait to see this cake

Does anyone have a time frame of how long it took Chef Brian to get back to them? I emailed him last week and ordered a cake over the phone. Caroline at the Contemporary told me after I ordered the cake to go over the details with Chef Brian in an email and he would send me the quote. Almost 1 week later...nada. This is for my moms birthday and its a surprise so I am reallly counting on this. Any help or suggestions would be great!
I just ordered a cake for DD 5th bday Oct. 5th and I heard back from Brian almost immediately. He did have to instruct me to physically order the cake we discussed and gave me the # to call. I believe I emailed him Friday afternoon and Saturday morning I had a return email from him. Hope this helps

I hate to bring this subject up again, but still not sure of an answer... If you order a cake from BWB and want to take it to a restaurant that may be in a park, is that possible? I know they kind of frown on outside food and bevs, but technically speaking, it's not outside food.
Will they deliver to a restaurant? The only one that I know would deliver specially is CR to CRT.
Please help as this is important for our trip in October!! Thanks in advance.

dsnygrl21 I came across the same situation when down this past week.You can take the cake anywhere you want but they will not store it for you while you are eating your meal.So do what I did ask for a cake platter and put it in the center of the table while eating dinner. It has something to do with the FDA rules but for a $75 delivery charge they will delivery it and store it until you are ready to eat it after finishing your meal..so go figure about the FDA rule...I personally think its a joke and just to make you spend the extra $75 dollars especially if where you bring it didn't make it oh boy does the chef have a big problem with it.I don't want to hear any flaming about it as I lived through it this past week so anyone with a different opinion as it will probably be only a opinion an you didn't live through it can keep it to themselves..
When I thought to use Chef Brian before the Boardwalk Bakery he responded within 24hrs.If you haven't heard from him in less than 24hrs he probably didn't receive it.Make sure you have his direct email addy otherwise he won't get it.I will say he was very good with responding back in a professional and timely manner.Don't sweat it they only need a 72hr notice for a custom cake withstanding Wedding cakes.....

Actually, this would be a legitimate thing. A guest could do anything to a cake to taint it in transport, or poison it, etc., and then hte contaminated cake would be next to the food being served to the rest of the restaurant. Obviously I'm not accusing anyone here of this, but there are certain food standards that are upheld within kitchens (ingredients, physical handling of the food, etc.) that may not be kept up once a guest has it.
It's just like how food can't be re-served once it hits a table (aka can't touch a table, go back to the kitchen, and serve it to someone else) because who knows whats happened to it while a server's back is turned. I agree that $75 is pretty pricey, I can understand that it would be quite some effort to have someone from the kitchen have to go to another location they don't normally deliver to, find room in the fridge, etc.
Not flaming, just trying to add some light onto the situation
