The Haunted Mansion Anniversary cake is very nice, I love that theme! Congrats on 24 years!

Thanks for the help you have given me so far, hoping you can help me again. I have been e-mailing Chef Brian about 2 cakes which I need at MK 2 weeks from today and we have agreed on the designs. My question is when should I contact MK cakes to place my final order? Is today too soon? Also, I want to order the glass slipper dessert for CRT a few days later. Do I do this through them also or through the CRT special events e-mail?

I would contact MK cakes now and let them know you've already been in touch with Chef Brian. Contact CRT special events for the slipper.

I just w

I just wanted to mention that I have children with severe life threatening allergies and Disney has been fabulous with providing safe cakes for us. I wouldn't rule out their ability to make a nut allergy safe cake. I'm pretty sure I've seen other posts from people with nut allergies who have ordered cakes without issue.

Just a thought.
This is true. We have had several nut free cakes--from GF, the Contemporary, Animal Kingdom Lodge. We have actually started getting a cake for every trip so my nut allergic Dd can have dessert that is safe. Works out great and so much fun. Animal kingdom lodge is up in October. Never worked with them before, but they were great.

I just ordered my niece's first birthday cake, and I'm so excited! Her b-day is Oct. 1st and we'll be doing MNSSHP that night. Have a 5:05 ADR @ Crystal Palace. I had a really good idea of what I wanted, 6in marble cake w/chocolate mousse filling and vanilla buttercream, Little Mermaid theme. I've never ordered a cake from MK before, always worked directly with the pastry teams @ CR or GF, but it couldn't have been easier. Just e-mailed all my info and my inspiration picture to Amy @ CRT special events yesterday and it was all set up by this morning. Just had to share somewhere that other people would actually care :)

That sounds fun! What a niece Aunt! We did a first birthday four our youngest several years ago...(Mickey head cake at Garden Grill at Epcot) It's a great memory!

Realized I never posted after our trip last Dec. A 2-layer 10" cake, yellow with white chocolate filling and fresh raspberries, buttercream frosting under the fondant. This was done by the Contemporary and delivered at dinner at the California Grill. All told it was about $200, for 20th Anniversary. The coloring was supposed to be emerald green, but I think got translated into "teal" which became "Elsa Blue" I think because of the winter theme...and I just noticed the typo in the writing posting these pictures! (and our plans originally had us at Universal, hence the Harry Potter quote...but I figure Disney didn't really mind since we stayed with them and they got all our $$$!). The snowflakes were edible but really had no taste. The cake was very moist and delcious! Leftovers boxed up and traveled well too.

So many beautiful cakes. I am a long time lurker to this thread and I will be getting ready to order a cake in the next month from the Contemporary. I am trying to come up with ideas for a Disney/race themed cake. We are running the wine and dine 1/2 marathon. Any thoughts out there? I definitely want a medal and a race bib on there.

Oh nOOOO- This is exactly the cake I wanted- Well I wanted the topper on a buttercream cake not a fondant cake....I wonder how much they want for those topper hats?

Yes, please do. I wonder if the price can vary by the whim of the CM.

For those of you who wanted to know how much the bride and groom Mickey & Minnie topper hats are that I was looking at for my anniversary cake, they cost $75!!!!!! I could not believe it. They cost more than the actual cake which is $59 for a 6".

That's what we started doing as well. My ODS has several allergies (not nuts) that eliminate most of the standard dessert options. So, we plan for a cake to give him at least one really amazing dessert while we are at Disney.

Sort of OT and obscure, but has anyone moved a cake for a split stay without a car? think it works best for me to order my birthday from the BC, but we are only there for 2 nights.

Can I ask Bell Services to hold the cake between check out at BC and receiving our new room assignment? I know they have a fridge - I have had perishable groceries delivered before check in in the past. But I dont know if they would accept a half eaten cake! :) Should I move it to a Tupperware bowl for ease of transport? Any other suggestions or advice appreciated!

@Disney_Alli moved a cake for a split stay by having bell services move and store it.

Bell Services did transfer it for us... It arrived upside down though. I'd put it in Tupperware and be prepared for it to get a little mangled but mushed cake is just as yummy as perfect cake.

I am looking into getting a cake for my sons 10th Birthday, his favorite ride is Expedition Everest, we are staying at the GF but will be at Chef Mickeys on his actual birthday. I am not sure if I should order thru GF or Contemporary, which place does the better custom cakes? Any ideas would be great

Here is a cake was ordered through Pat at the Grand Floridian and was delivered to Ohana. It is an 6", chocolate cake with chocolate mousse filling. It cost 125.00

Thanks so much for sharing your experience! I have terrible luck with room transfer (16+ hours to arrive once, a bag misplaced for an entire day last November. Sigh) so I will likely take it with me in a cab or Uber. Just need for them to store it for a few hours while I am homeless. I agree though - mangled cake is still cake!

After pouring over these pictures and searching online, I am feeling without inspiration for a Little Mermaid/Ariel themed cake for my daughter's Sweet Sixteen celebration in a few months. Does anyone have a link or pictures for some inspiration? I'll probably order from either CR or GF. Thanks in advance!

Have you googled Ariel cake? I'm not computer savvy so I can't copy and paste some of the cakes that popped up- but plenty of awesome cake images under that search!!! A lot of blue fondant cake- most layered with Ariel at the top and a sea theme on the lower layers!

Just wanted to thank everyone on this thread for all the great tips and info, and share my experience from this weekend.

I had ordered a mini cake to be delivered to our room the night we arrived, which was my daughter's actual birthday. Had no issues contacting CR and placing the order, which was for a vanilla mini with vanilla mousse filling, ice blue frosting and a few candy snowflakes on top.

However, when we got back to the room that night we were too tired to enjoy it, so stored it in the frige (it was completely boxed and beautiful!). Contacted the concierge in the morning to see if we could take the cake to our CRT reservation that night instead, and was told that would be no problem. But when we got there, we were told they could serve it for us, but couldn't store it in the kitchen during our meal. And sadly, after transport and a 90 minute meal, the buttercream was melting by the time we finally cut it, and I was so sad I hadn't taken a picture of it the night before!!

The cake was delicious, though, and still so moist a day later. It was also plenty of food for the 4 of us, so I'm really rethinking the 6" I was planning to order in December! Cost was $35.

Here's the best picture I got...you can see how it's starting to lean :(

Both places do great custom cakes, but the Contemporary is easier to work with and gives you more flavor options.
