@lurkyloo do you know if anyone has posted their experience with the cakes from CSR? Good or bad? I don't remember ever seeing anyone post but I haven't read every page of this thread.

Yes, someone posted one a few pages back. Here you go...

We got back last weekend from our 10th anniversary trip. It was also dh's birthday the day we checked in. I ordered the mixed berry cake from Coronado Springs Resort and had it delivered to our room for his birthday. The it was the smallest cake they had and I was quoted $35. That's exactly what it was! No service charge or anything else added to it. They delivered it to the room while we were at dinner. It was very moist and delicious and although it said it was for 4-6 people, it could have easily fed 8-10! The cake was a yellow cake with a whipped cream icing with strawberries on top. Between the layers of cake there was different types of berries, strawberries, raspberries, and black berries.

Here is our 6 inch anniversary cake that I ordered through the Contemporary. It was an almond cake with amaretto mousse - it was moist and delicious! I was happy with the design although it wasn't exactly what I was picturing in my mind. If I had known the swirls and stars (from the tea cups) were going to be added with frosting, I would have asked that the entire cake be covered in buttercream to try to cut down the cost. The cake was $90, and with the delivery charge/gratuity it was $103. I do think that was pretty steep for the design we had, but since it was for our first anniversary and the cake tasted delicious, I'm not going to complain too much. They also gave us a complementary white chocolate Tinker Bell along with the cake. :)

Does anyone know if you can get a cake delivered to tea at the GF? My parents are going to celebrate their 50th anniversary so I want to get them a special cake. We are staying at the BC most likely (next year) but they really enjoyed the tea so I'm considering having the cake there.

Yes you can. There's a picture 2 posts before your post from the tea posted by @Jetku. You need to contact GF and the numbers are on the first page of this thread.

Happy Anniversary to your parents!

One more question...what size cake would you get for 12 people? If we do it at tea we will have other desserts too so I need it big enough for a slice for everyone but not giant. Well, we could take leftovers with us I guess. Also, from reading the posts if I have the cake at the BC instead then I contact YC/BC, correct? Anyone have experience with both and recommend one over the other (taste, design wise). Thanks for helping a cake newbie. Oh, and on a side note...has anyone seen a mini cake with Oswald or know if this is possible?

Has anyone ever had a safari theme cake done? Just buttercreme frosting and small chocolate animals to decorate

If you're going to customize it I'd get the smallest you could which is 8 inches....it will be plenty since you'll also have other desserts.

I kinda want it two tiers though. I'm not a baker so don't know what looks good. Like 8 and 4inch maybe? Or 6" and 4" ?

Hi everyone. Been watching this thread for a long time looking at all the amazing cakes. We're coming to disney in december staying at animal kingdom lodge and its my daughters and my husbands birthday whilst we're there so i have 2 cakes to sort out argh! I dont know where to start. My husband is lactose intolerant so would need a dairy free cake. Do disney do this or do i need to go to erin mckennas bakery? My daughter is princess mad but cant decide where she wants to eat on her birthday so no idea where to order from x

Ugh... I don't think I'm ordering the cake right. I called the Grand Floridian Resort at this number 407-824-1951. The lady that answered was very nice but said I couldn't order what I wanted (an 8" fondant covered marble cake with peanut butter cup filling) for my daughters birthday. She said I was limited to vanilla mousse, chocolate mousse, fresh strawberry and a couple of others. She said they only make the other flavors for wedding cakes only. Is this correct? What am I doing wrong?

What am I doing wrong?

Nothing - that is her standard line. Some people (through honey or vinegar) are able to get her to check with the pastry team about having different flavors than the standard ones she offers, by being persistent. Others give up and order a cake for a meal at the Contemporary.

It just dawned on me that I NEED to order a birthday cake for Little Dude's 3rd birthday. We leave in 10 days is it to late to order?

We're staying at SOG for 1/2 the trip (then over to AKL for 3 nights) which is making it a bit harder. I am thinking we'll have it delivered to Ohana.

Need to get this figured out in short order!

Ah.. Thanks... I guess I'll try

I guess I should try and finish my thoughts!! lol I will probably use the boardwalk bakery and have a cake delivered to our room. I really wanted it done on our first night so we can eat cake for breakfast. LOL

Yes. I can't find any photos right now, but try googling "safari cake" and you'll get tons of inspiration.

Disney will probably refer you to Erin McKenna's.

It's not too late to order.

I ordered a Cinderella slipper for dinner on Friday night at Cali grill. They didn't give me a confirmation or anything. Is that typical? It makes me a little nervous

Yes. I usually call a few days in advance to confirm the order.

Changed my mind, as I often do, we're getting an 8 inch delivered to our room at AKL. Chocolate with custard and strawberries filling, Stitch theme covered in blue and white marbled fondant.

I wanted Jake and the Neverland Pirates but it doesn't seem to be an available theme :-( Oh well

Little Dude is going to love it!
