I was so bummed when I saw how AWE ended that I was ecstatic when I heard about what the writers had left out. I know not everyone agrees as to whether Will is still captain after 10 years but I've made up my mind to believe the happy ending.....

...I am STILL angry how the movie ended....not so much that he had to be the new captain and wait 10 years to come back to Elizabeth (although that DID 'tick me off' just a tad...) but the turn that Will's character took.....I really loved his naivete in the beginning of the first movie, but near the end of AWE, he became almost - ruthless, jaded, really "pirate-ish".....I didn't like that. I also didn't like how so many 'main' characters were 'offed' - very UN-Disneylike....(Sheesh, I kinda had a 'crush' on Norrington [from POTC2]....) this last movie really took a dark turn.....

I agree. I hated that they killed him ! It didn't have to be that way , it wasn't like it was neccessary for him to die to tie the story up. I would love for him to have been in the next one ( if there is another one) ! It was a lot darker than the others

...soooo, did you also feel like the movie kept going in 'circles'.....I, for one, have watched POTC 1 and 2 like a GAZILLIONS times and I had a hard time following this movie....I can't imagine those viewers who never saw the other two - it would have been soooo confusing....

I didn't reply to that link. Kim....I figured everyone was so sick of reading my theories... I have explained them so many times my fingers hurt.

I, personally, am ok, with the ending, only because I know he comes back (the after credits)...If then didn't add that, then I would be beyond upset.


ETA: I can follow it w/out a problem, Kim, but mainly because of my mod duties...Every speck of this film has been analysed.

Yeah I saw it twice and still there were parts that I was scratching my head. I went the second time to see it hoping that after the initial disappointment about the Will thing that I would like it better and no I still didn't.

...I dunno, it was, like, Elizabeth and Will FINALLY are together [after 3 long movies], and WHAP! he's taken away.....

I know I think the rushed wedding thing was weird....they don't trust eachother through this movie and are keeping secrets and then they want to get married seemed like they just wanted to tie it all together quick.

Good point. Especially since they'd have to show the "affected area".

I'm sorry but I don't think that killing off characters is UN-disneylike. If you watch a lot of Disney movies-and I do but only partially because of the kids, you will see that someone dies in pretty much every movie. Even the Lion King and Nemo and Tarzan and the other POTC movies all have sometimes gruesome deaths in them.
The deaths didn't bother me as there was no more use for Norrington(sorry, I liked him in DMC). I am a little bit bothered that Beckett was killed prior to us finding out what mark Jack left on him.

To me, there were a lot of inconsistancies - like, no explanation as to how governor Swann was working for the "tea guy", and how Norrington and his men were 'guarding' [??] I guess.... , Davy Jones heart on HIS ship, and, how 'bout when those two British sailors [who were guarding the ship at the beginning of POTC1] wouldn't save Elizabeth when she fell into the water [because she fainted] because neither of them couldn't swim, yet, by the 3rd movie, they're just two regular 'swashbucklers'.....HUH??!??!

I just hope that the when the DVD comes out it will have more info and maybe deleted scenes that will fill in the blanks.
