How come Gabrielle doesn`t act or look pregnant?
I wondered this, too. However on last night's episode, when she was talking to John re. their break-up, she grabbed her stomach and said "ooooh" and he said "What's wrong? Is it the baby?" and she said "No, it's not the baby, it's me".

So, they haven't entirely forgotten it as it was briefly touched on. I just think they're more concerned w/Gabrielle finding out that John's love for her wasn't as deep as she thought it was.

The Lynette storyline really bothers me. Perhaps I'm taking it to personally, being childfree myself (or "childless by choice" as the boss lady put it), but they're going really overboard to make her look horrible.

I realize it's just a tv show, and one that exaggerates characters at every turn, but there are some real points to be made with that situation. I'd like to see them show the boss as just a little more human rather than this ridiculous charicature of what people already think childfree people are like.

We're not all evil, witchy, rigid control freaks, but we would like a little parity from time to time. What's wrong with showing that in a more balanced light?
Anybody agree?
They were also exaggerating the storyline when Lynette was at home with her kids and her kids ran amok.

I sensed a foreshadowing when Gabrielle tossed John's heavy suitcase out the front door in the first episode that maybe she will have a miscarriage. Did anyone notice how it seemed to play in slow motion?

What happened to Lynette's other son? She had twins, right??

I'm thinking Gabrielle will lose her baby too. I just don't see her with a baby. Although, these writers are really good :)

She has four kids - twins, a younger boy, and the baby. The twins are already in school so it was the younger boy's first day.

BTW - Bubba's Mom - AWESOME recap!!!

Thank you...glad it was appreciated! ;) Just catching up on the thread since this morning when I had to run to work...... in reference to Gabby's "un"bulging belly.....shouldn't she be showing by now a little?? Didn't she only discover she was pregnant in April or May?? Well, it's early Oct. and someone as skinny as she would show..... DH thought they might not be writing "calendar" time...like on the show it's only a couple of months since she found out about the pregnancy....but that can't be with Parker's first day of kindergarten storyline..... :scratchin .....so, I'm not sure what gives?? :confused3

Well gray's anatomy had a pregnant character with an ectopic pregnancy...so who knows?

Someone asked about time--she found out she was preggers towards the end of the season....Rex died on the last episode--and we are still in the immediate grieving period...quite possible that she's still early in the first trimester in Wysteria Lane-time.

Good point. With Rex just being buried, I guess we're to assume only a week or so has gone by since last season.

I don't remember exactly how the question was worded, but I thought he did lie, so I believe they asked him if "he killed/poisoned" Rex.

I could be wrong though.

Acxtually they asked "did you kill Rex"
and he replied "no"
which is not a lie ... technically...
he 'modified his meds' but he didn't GIVE them to him

"DH thought they might not be writing "calendar" time...like on the show it's only a couple of months since she found out about the pregnancy....but that can't be with Parker's first day of kindergarten storyline..... .....so, I'm not sure what gives?? "

Around here in the Public School System they stagger the days that Kindergarten kids go to school - so it is possible that they do not get to go to their first day of school until the end of September.

Something to do with not wanting to overwhelm the kids (or the teacher!)

I forgot to tape the show, and knew I could count on you all for the recaps!
Thanks!!

Sounds like I didn't miss an overly exciting episode, so thats good!!

I heard in real life, Lynette's boss is pregnant and they are going to write it in the story.

I hope they keep Lynette working-and show the daily struggles.

Well, they certainly keep showing this boss putting Lynette (and other women) down because some people "choose to remain childless" (implying that they are better workers, etc).

That would certainly be like them to build up this characteristic in preparation for a big change!

I agree, her boss is a big name too so I am thinking they are keeping her.

I also happen to agree that if Lynette was smart she would go to a family friendly enviroment. She has experince, skills and is in demand. She had more choices then she gave herself credit for.

However it makes for a better plot and brings out real issues real desperate houswives deal with daily.

i agree and AGAIN point out: when she tried to get Tom out of his job (because he was working with his ex) and she was talking to HER old boss (at a restaurant over lunch), didn't her boss get excited because she thought Lynette was looking for a job?? does anyone remember this scene?? she said her door was always open if Lynette wanted to go back to work.... why doesn't she work for her?? ...guess it won't fit the storyline.....

I remember, I was wondering too. What would it be with out the drama? Not a night time drama so I guess.

Remember, to the DHW's if you do something, it is going to backfire on you! Just to make the rest of us laugh. :flower:

Exactly what your DH said ... on Wisteria Lane, it's still "where we last left off time" ... not "six months from the last Season 1 episode time". B/c, think about it, would they have a funeral for Rex w/a dead body if 6 months had passed by?! Ewwwww ... I'd guess not! So, going by Wisteria Lane time, those 6 months w/o Desperate Housewives on tv never even existed.

::yes:: ::yes:: ::yes::

I hope no one considers this a spoiler, but with the whole Gabby pregnancy thing, I was reading somewhere (maybe People?) that Gabby will actually have the baby. I guess in one of the upcoming episodes she get upset because she no longer can fit into a size 00 and throws a fit in the store. I never knew there was such a size!! And I guess Marc Cherry made some comment about her being in a "fat suit" for most of the season.
