Am I the only one hating the Gabby/Carlos storyline?

I can't stand the fact that she is so mad at Carlos, yet she is the one who had a long affair first. And I'm not liking how they dealt with the whole baby thing :sad2:

I agree

I used to watch Melrose Place :rolleyes1 ...but i agree w/ previous posts! No Nora was great this week!!! ELF ...thanks for the recap...a pleasure to read, as always! :thumbsup2 I too was starting think Orsen was "ok", but with Mike awake, I think we will see his true colors. And remember the little bit of info we got saying "a main character would die in a hostage situation"....i do believe that is supposed to happen next month-->November sweeps! I think the episodes are "okay", not hilarious, not boring....some stories "stretched" with a few good lines in them...most of the funny punches are coming from Carlos & Gabby :teeth: ....I don't think Carlos is going anywhere for a while.....he's still in the credits as a "regular" cast member.

I really hate to say this, but I'm beginning to think Desperate Housewives is taking the same slide Melrose Place did. Bree & Tom should be used to it!

So it started out as a group of friends and neighbors going through life. Sure there are a few more skeletons in the closet than your typical neighborhood, but just enough to make it fun. Not too much in the way of insane story lines, 2 or so at a time. The friends hang out by the pool, meet at the bar, play poker in the afternoon and help eachother through life. This morphs into totally out-there stories, 5-6 major threads per episode, way too many secondary characters and friends who never spend time together.

At first, it was entertaining, and a pretty smart satire of life in the 'happy' suburbs. Now it is just ridiculous. The cops visit Carlos and Gabby every week! Where were Tom & Lynettes' other 3 kids? I don't hire a babysitter to go to one kid's ballgame - do you? I'm willing to give it a few more weeks, but I'm pretty bored this season.

At this point I'm waiting for Tom to come out of the closet and Bree to reveal her ugly head scar.
'Great Post. I remember that MP episode w/the scar. It freaked me out thne.

I am glad that Lynette is bouncing back. she is the strongest character.

I am glad that Andrew is acting somewhat normal to his mother. I was getting bored w/the fighting w/ those too.

the Danielle story line is BS, she sees her boyfriend get shot and hits the sack w/the teacher? Bree would just have him arrested.

The Mike waking up and Edie being the "it" girl is weird, it seems like they had no other story lines for Edie, so they just tossed her in the Mike/Susan story ...again.

Gaby and Carlos are at least good for a laugh.

People keep talking like Edie is one of the desperate Housewives. Edie, as far as I know, was never married. So she's not really a housewife. In the beginning of the first season, she wasn't even in the group picture they would show at the opening credits & commercials with the four wives: Susan, Bree, Lynette, Gabby. Nor was she listed in the credits as one of the stars. She actually started out as a Guest Star. Her role originally was as the unmarried neighborhood vixen as competition for Susan.

I think, over time, she became popular on the show so they've kept her in and Nicolette Sheridan insisted on being billed as one of the regular stars. But remember, Edie even had to worm her way into their weekly coffee meetings. She wasn't one of the "housewives."

Plus, Nicolette Sheridan is too famous to just allow herself to be dangling and made sure she is contracted now to be in every episode. Had they originally hired an actress at Nora's level, they could have just had Edie come in & out every few episodes when they need the sexy vixen or nosey neighbor to come in.

Now the writers are stumped as to what to do with an Edie storyline, because the stories don't circle around her unmarried character - but they have to include her in every week in some way. It would be like watching Bewitched and watching a whole episode of Gladys Kravitz as the main character instead of Samantha & Darren.

Edie is divorced. I remember that from the 1st episode. Right now most of the house wife's are single (only Lynette is married to the same man, at this time I think.) Bree was single for a while (widowed.)

OK, how cheesy is it to quote my own post? I just wanted you to follow my convoluted thought process.

It's a new version of the Kevin Bacon Game! On the next episode of Melrose Housewives: Orson's non-dead ex-wife Charlotte (can't remember her name on Melrose) shows up to blow up Wisteria Lane.

Didn't someone post spoilers of a 'hostage situation' a few pages back??

Thanks!

yep, that was me......that is supposed to happen by Nov. sweeps.... a main character is supposed to be killed off in a "hostage situation".....altho, since the word is "out", they may change the "situation".... eh, who knows? :confused3

Nora is supposed to be the main character they kill off? I wouldn't have thought of Nora as a main character.

If things keep going the way they are, I would hope that Edie is the one that gets knocked off as her tramp routine is definately getting tired.

And if you think about it, Mike really has no storyline anymore. What is he doing on Wisteria Lane? Is he an undercover cop still? Hired hit man? Out of work plumber? What?

Finally, I wonder if Susan will get to sleep with Mike again (next week she kidnaps him from the hospital) and since she just slept with Ian at the cabin, will she be the one that gets pregnant and then wonders if it's Ian's or Mike's child?

I don't know how many more interesting storyline's Mark Cherry can cook up that will keep folks interested. :confused3

I was kinda hopin' it was Edie too....she really doesn't have a "story"....even WITH the nephew in town...but, why bring him into it??? Where's that going?? :confused3

Guess he's a plumber..."out of commission" right now....and I don't think his "cop" days are anymore (hence, Diedra's father hiring him as PI)... Mike really doesn't have a "story" anymore, after all, if he HAD made it to Susan that night and proposed, where would we be?? Planning a wedding...boring! (Also, where the heck is Carl?? He wanted to be w/ Susan SO bad, and Mike is comatose for 6 months and no Carl to be found anywhere?? :confused3 I don't get that!) Didn't I hear somewhere that he was filming a movie or two?? That would explain his "limited" appearances.....

I DO like that Elf..... :thumbsup2 THAT would be good! Just as Mike and Susan are "hooking up" again.....SURPRISE!!!! :scratchin ....juicy!

Has anyone else watched today's show yet?

Wow, Gabby is so mean! I totally didn't expect that last scene with her and Carlos. I was just starting to get hopeful that they will get back together.

But I did know what Nora was up to. She is one of the last people Lynette should trust!

I also loved the scenes with Bree and her family, but I just wasn't that interested in the Susan/Mike/Edie thing. Does anyone else think Mike looks like he has lost a lot of weight? I guess it makes sense if he was supposed to be in a coma for 6 months.

I agree! Gaby was just plain evil tonight. I didn't see that coming! I enjoy the little fued that Carlos and Gaby have going on but that was just cruel. Carlos looked so crushed!

Nora didn't surprise me either. She's one looney toon! I can't believe she's crazy enough to tell her dd she's working on it about getting back with Tom and get that little girl's hopes up. I liked the preview of Lynette kicking in the door next week. I am so ready for the "real" Lynette, (you know the feisty, tough one), to come back and kick that witch's butt!

I kept waiting for Susan to accidentally dump that mac 'n' cheese on somebody since she's such a klutz and all. I also expected her to get mad at the end and grab Edie by the hair or something. Maybe that was just wishful thinking on my part though since Edie really annoys me and I don't like her being with MY man right now! ;)

I wonder if maybe Orson is the one that wrote Mike's phone number on the dead woman's hand to frame him for the murder or if there was an actual connection there and that is why Orson wants Mike out of the picture. Hmmm...

Okay, so I missed the part where Danielle is talking to Bree after Bree talked to the teacher and he broke up with Danielle as a result. I heard Danielle say something about having called his wife and there was more but I missed it. What all did Danielle say? TIA!

Oh, and Danielle seriously is getting to the point where somebody needs to kick in the door and beat her down too!

Assuming Y'all want this weeks recap;

The art of sabotage is practiced everyday in the suburbs is our opening line this evening. :rotfl2:

Bree shows up at the seedy motel where Danielle has checked in with her Science teacher. At first the manager refuses her entry and then Bree informs him that her daughter is only 17! He obliges Bree but only if shbe promises not to mess up the new carpeting that has been installed!

Only one house in the neighborhood still has home cooked dinners and that would be the Cleavers, um the Hodges  Seems Bree has made slow cooked lamb and Andrew and Danielle are at the table with Bree and Orsen. Danielle is upset that her mother has cramped her style by ending the teacher/student relationship and tosses a dinner plate full of food into the dining room wall. Bree takes this outburst surprisingly well by announcing to her new husband that she should remember to pick up paper plates he next time they go shopping.

Lynette's husband Tom is continuing his life crisis as now he has announced his plans to open a pizza parlor.
Seems he has been his pizza baking skills in the home kitchen and wants Lynette to try a slice. Don't worry Lynette, Tom has it all figured out now! :lmao:

Carlos is home lighting candles when Gabby walks in and mistakes this act for a seduction attempt at her. She tells Carlos to move on, only to discover another woman sitting in her bathtub!!

Meanwhile over at the hospital Mike is continuing to feign his amnesia. Tonight he is sipping chicken soup and Susan is trying to jog his memory with a few stories and a 70's music CD. Mike is not remmebering any of her stories and turns the stereo off and tells Susan that he is really tired and getting a headache. Susan tells him she will leave but she is not giving up.

That Jane Doe from the golf course has blue ink marks on the back of her legs according to the police. They think it is a phone number inscribed into her skin.

Bree sends Andrew up to check on Danielle, who is sitting in a dry bathtub with slit wrists and a few pills. Seems she is trying to supposedly commit suicide, but did not succeed.
Andrew goes back downstairs whi;e Bree and Orson are talking. He eventually gets around to mentioning this little incident to his mother who then runs from the room.
AT the hospital, it is determined that Danielle is going to make it. The wounds were superficial and Danielle is resisting a pumping of the stomach. Bree orders the Dr to "pump her"
Orson suddenly has an outburst by announcing that suicide is the worst thing that can happen to a family and he will not have it made light of. Bree agrees that the family should all go to counselling.

Bree and Lynette are sitting with the neighbors discussing Toms dream of opening a pizza parlor.

Goofball Nora comes out the door and wants to talk to Lynette. Seems Nora has overheard the conversation the ladies were discussing about Tom opening the pizza parlor and she (Nora) doesn't like it. She is thinking her and Lynette will have to start working with poles to pay for braces.

Edies nephew brings some flowers to Julie.

Susan shows up at the hospital with some homemade mac and cheese for Mike. When she spots Edie coming from Mikes room, the nurse informs Susan that Edie was present when Mike emerged from the coma. Susan tears after Edie demanding that Edie be banned from the hospital. Susan is the one that gets carted off by security though.

Bree, Danielle, Orson, and Andrew are meeting with a counsellor. Danielle informs her mother that if she can't reume the relationshipwithe the teacher she will leave, which is something Bree doesn't want to happen.

Julie and Austin are sitting behind a computer. Julie is trying to tutor Austin and he is not cooperating. He opens a beer and Julie tells him she will be leaving. She then asks Austin why he was in juvee and he tells her about his Mom. Lame scene here that seems to lag.

Gaby is sitting on the couch applying lipstick when Carlos walks in and Gaby asks him if he needs more money to pay off the girl in the tub!
He tells Gaby that he was trying to make her jealous but Gaby thinks Carlos must really hate her because he brought that girl to their house.
All of a sudden, a guy comes into the room with 2 glasses of champagne. :rotfl:
Gaby wants to introduce Carlos to Phil Lopez but Carlos already knows him from the Chamber of Commerce. When Carlos wants to talk to Gaby, Gaby then informs him that her and Phil will be going to the hot tub. Gaby sends ole Phil outside and Carlos has a slow simmer going here.

Tom is on his computer when Lynette wants to discuss the new pizza venture. Lynette is totally on board with the idea and wants Tom to try an Italian themed catering business. She thinks he can do fun parties and in 5 years he will have a firm customer base and then he can open a pizzeria. He dissagrees but then Lynette bursts out with the announcement that she tinks he will fail if he doesnt do it her way.

Gaby is now clad in bathrobe with Phil dressesd in one as well. She announces to Carlos that she is making a snack and wants to know if he wants some sour grapes perhaps or maybe some crow. She then jumps up on the bed and makes some sound affects so that Carlos will think her and Phil are having sex. Phil is mad because he was under the impression that her and him were really going to get it on and leaves telling Carlos that Gaby is a loon. Meanwhile, Gaby is still in the bedroom making sound affects when Carlos sneaks in behind her catching Gaby in the act. He makes fun of her and Gaby wants to know what it will take to get Carlos to let go. Carlos tells Gaby that he won't give in.

Julie spots her friend Sara messing around in a car with Austin. When she goes back in the house she then tells Susan that Susan should let Mike go as he is not into her.

Fast forward to the next morning:
Carlos walks in on Gaby to find her in bed with some guy that she met in a bar. She wants to know if THIS has now hurt Carlos or should she keep trying. Carlos looks hurt.

Edie is back at the hospital with Mike. The nurse tells Edie that she has a phone call. Susan sneaks in on Mike with a man who grabs Mike's wheelchair and they put Mike in a van and speed away.

Bree shows up at the teachers house. She tells the teacher that she is now fine with the relationship and hands the teacher Danielles clothes and a few stuffed animals. The teacher suddenly wants Bree to tell her daughter that he doesnt think the relationship will work out.

SUsan is now seen pushing Mike around on Wisteria Lane trying to jog Mikes memory. He is saying he doesnt remember anything but then he remembers Susan being a bit klutsy and then asks her about the British guy Ian. Susan tells Mike that Ian is just a friend. Suddenly the nurse from the hospital pulls up and tells Susan that she had no business taking Mike from the hospital.
Edie and Susan get into a fight about Mike in the street with Edie telling Susan that Mike now belongs to her.

The cops figure out the phone number. It's Mikes answering machine saying "Mike Delphinos plumbing" hmmmmmmm. :confused3

Julie is sitting on her porch when Austin walks up and tosses a paper at her. He is mad as Julie has emailed the wrong paper to him and he thinks she did it on purpose because she was jealous of him.

Danielle comes in and tells Orson and Bree that the teacher broke up her. She got even though as she went to the principal and got the teacher fired. She then sent a phone recording to the teachers soon to be ex wife. Bree is proud that her daughter is just like her mother.

Kayla kisses her daddy Tom goodbye when Nora asks Tom if Lynette put the kabosh on his pizza plans. She then tells Tom that he is born to open a pizza place. She goes on to call Lynette a bully and that he should go on to open the pizze place and that she believes in him. What a peice of work she is as she earlier told Lynette that she didnt want Tom to open the pizza place.
Later we see Nora telling her daughter that she is working on Tom being back in their life.

Next weeks shows Gaby and Carlos in bed rethinking the divorce.
Edie and Mike in the hospital bed and Susan walks in
Nora and Tom are having lunch making goo goo eyes at each other and the next scene shows Lynette kicking in the door

Oh, and just wanted to add...does anyone else think that maybe "good girl" Julie will be the one to get pregnant by Edie's nephew. The possibility has definitely crossed my mind.

I totally forgot about Mike's phone # being found on the dead body! I have no idea where that one is going.

Danielle told Bree that she went to the principal of the school and got the teacher fired. Then he called her to yell at her about it, so she recorded the phone call and sent the tape to his wife. That's all I remember, so hopefully if there was more Christmas Elf can stop by later and fill us in!

Andrew threw in a funny line at this point, too. When Danielle wasn't eating the baby lamb, he said it's because she prefers "old goat." :rotfl2: I actually like Andrew a lot more now. He almost seems to care about his mother again. But I am still a little suspicious as to if he has learned his lesson on the streets, or if he is planning even more evil revenge for Bree.
