*~~Official December 2016 Thread~~*

Thanks for the share about the party!! I'll have to check availability. We're at Disneyland right now, so I wouldn't have known if I hadn't checked in real quick!!

It looks like the Dessert parties are only available for the days where there is a MVMCP which means you would have to step away from all the other Christmas Party activities from 7:30 when the event starts. I would consider it for a full day at Magic Kingdom but not for a day where the hours are limited. The Christmas party activities don't really start until 7 even though you are allowed in at 4 that doesn't give you very much time to see the characters and other party experiences.
Someone can correct me if I'm wrong but it just doesn't seem worth it.

Still trying to get a reservation at Arkshus... I'm so super sad that this was the one I wanted and can't get :(

Traveling 12/3-12/9
Looking for 12/4, 12/5 or 12/8 party of 4- breakfast lunch or dinner doesn't matter
If anyone knows someone, or ends up not using theirs any of these days please let me know. It's very super important to us. Well me.

Thanks!!

Really considering the dessert party as my family often skips the parade due to the crowds, plus we're early birds at the park. This will be my first MVMCP. I doubt we will participate in any meet and greets. Wondering what else I would be missing if I went to the dessert party at say, 8:15?

Hey everyone, I'm late to the party for December travelers I think. My husband and I are going on our (belated) honeymoon to Universal and WDW. Our WDW days will be 11/28-12/4 and we'll be staying at the BWV. This is my husband's first visit and I'm hoping he loves it as much as I do.

I already missed my ADR date. I was really ill at the time and honestly wasn't too worried about it. We are not too concerned about where we eat during the trip so I'm sure we can be happy with what we get, but I definitely do want to make some ADRs so I know I need to do that ASAP. We are not on the dining plan and we tend to like to eat more times throughout the day but smaller meals, so I imagine a lot of QS instead of TS for us.

A question for all those who will be there Christmas day and New Years.

Which parks will you be choosing and why?
Im thinking steer clear of Magic Kingdom.
Maybe Animal Kingdom for Christmas and Hollywood Studios for New.
Any suggestions or thoughts would be appreciated.

Party of 15 hopping on board the Dec. '16 thread. Most of us are checking in on New Year's Eve and staying till January 8, and we'll be at the Beach Club and Boardwalk. I go back and forth on what to do for New Year's Eve, so I'm looking forward to seeing other's opinions. Hollywood Studios would be convenient and, from what I hear, less crowded, but I've always wanted to experience the Magic Kingdom on New Year's Eve. What to do? What to do? I welcome any and all advice.

Have you tried the Touring Plans reservation finder tool? I have found it to be very helpful when I needed to change my ADR days and find new times. We have a TP subscription, but I have seen others post that the tool is available without having to actually sign up. It might be worth a try.

hello! just stumbled across this thread and was excited to see it!! we are booked for dec 14 to 21 at yacht club. please add us us to your list! we had to cancel it last year due to dismal canadian dollar so i have re-booked and am hoping.... :)

our ADR date is tomorrow and i went thru everything with DH last night. i did see on another thread tusker house is 2 table service credits... that one got crossed off the list. we wanted yachtsman as well... can't use up half our ts credits on 2 meals!

i wanted to add an extra day, as i am trying to schedule the "must do's" in, it is getting tight. i called yesterday and was told day before was NOT available but adding dec 22 was available. so i added it, but really would rather the 13.

to those more experienced planners, would you just recommend checking on-line every day and calling if it comes up as available? right now it shows available for that date but just not for our room type (garden view). if it does come available, i am nervous to modify the reservation myself as i am sure i will lose everything. :sad2:

So I am laaaaaaaaaaate to the party, but thought I'd say hello. Hello! We will be at AKL Kidani from 12/3-12/10. Once again, coinciding with Pop Warner :sad2: This will be our third trip coinciding with all the cheerleader moms. Ah well, what are you gonna do? The group will be me, DH, DS 5, MIL and SIL. MIL comes with us on just about every WDW trip (she gets tired when the kid gets tired, mom and dad stay at the parks until closing, everyone wins!) but this is the first time in almost 20 years for SIL. Very excited! We will be attending MVMCP on 12/6, which is also DH's birthday, and the DVC MerryMember Meet on 12/9. I've got all my ADRs and the countdown is ON!!

Just an FYI,
Tusker house is only 1 TS credit. The thread you were reading was from a week or two ago when DW website was incorrectly showing it as 2 credits.

I haven't... But it just might be something to look into. Thank you for the idea

Hi all! In all the years I have been on the dis, I never clicked on the Doing the Happy Dance thread and never knew about all these
theads for vacations! Someone on the TP Board directed me here, wow and so happy I found you all LOL

My family of 4, dd-22 and ds-18, will be at SSR Treehouse Villas from December 26-January 1. Can't wait.
I am somewhat stressed about making our ADRs since it seems lots of people are having a difficult time :(
With the exception of Chef Mickey our first night of arrival (I know, it really isn't good but we have been doing this our first
night since the kids were so young and they still say they will go so how can I not book it?), my meals are more Signature than
Character so maybe I'll have an easier time? Not sure, don't think so but I can hope LOL

For those that will be at Disney the same time, what are your plans and what do you plan on doing NYE?
I'm going to make most of our ADRs at DTD since we are a boat ride, even walk if we wanted, away.

Plan on getting to the parks about 45 minutes before RD and out by lunch. We spent one day at MK last year on December 27, prior to a cruise, got there about an hour or so before RD and my dd and I did everything twice and left by lunch. So far my family is on board for RD but we will see. I'll make my FP for after lunch since
I don't expect us to be going back to a park in the evenings. Not sure about that though either. I think if we were closer or walking distance to a park, it
would make it easier to do but being sooo crowded, I rather not have us waiting for busses to take us to packed parks. Trying to be a stress free
during this time of year as possible.

So happy I found you all here!

I am late as well to this thread, but we are going Dec 24-31!!! This is my first time being there on Christmas Day, have been during Christmastime and loved it, but am a bit nervous about the crowds during that week. Either way I know we will have a great time!! :) I'm sure it is mentioned here somewhere, but does anyone know when they will release all of December's hours? It seems they are going day by day with tomorrow finally getting to the beginning of my trip!! :) Is this usual?

ah! good know - thanks for that!

wait... scratching tusker house had made my decisions just a wee bit easier! lol!

Thanks :) My SO and I are both 23 and it will be just us two for this trip. I'm hoping that, that plus hopefully nicer weather will make it possible to keep up with everything.

Since you have done both parks in a day do you mind me asking how that went? Just in terms of how much you were able to experience and did you get express passes or think they might be worth it? We are considering all our options and since we know our time there is limited we want to make the most out of it. I'm definitely a go go go type of person at theme parks and my SO has learned to just follow along and at the very least fake a smile haha.
I might look into the resort rooms for that early entry but the thought of relocating and losing magical express is holding me back.
Thanks in advance :)
We are doing 1 day at US/IoA, but are considering doing something my husband thinks is insane. Our US day falls 2 days before we end our vacation and I don't want to check out of our hotel and lose the ME either. Unlimited express passes will cost my family of 4 $600 for the day we go, but a room is only $330. I'm trying to convince him to take an overnight bag and spend just 1 night (paying for rooms at WDW and US). That will give us early entry and express passes. Then we'll go back to WDW and finish our vacation. Not the cheapest option, but we're saving money over express passes.
