We are arriving in Orlando on the 9th and spending the night at the Hyatt...the next morning we are taking ME and staying at the Poly....it's always been my dream to stay there and this time I get my wish. It's just for 2 days...but then we leave for Port Canaveral to board the Wonder for a 4 day cruise !!!!

I am so excited to see the Christmas Decorations..I've been once during Christmas, but it was so many years ago....my DD doesn't rememeber and we are taking my DGD...she will love it.

We are attending MVMCP and meeting up with a bunch of other DISers...

Everyone going in December, have a wonderful time !!!

Hey! There have been a couple of changes to my ADRs! Whatever is on the list now can be completely removed, except for MVMCP on Dec. 14th. Here are the new ADRs:

12/14 - The Wave Restaurant at 5:20pm
12/15 - Crystal Palace at 1:05pm

Thanks!
- Britt

BCV 12/6- 12/11, last year was our first Christmas visit - probably the best time of year to go, crowds werent crazy, the decorations awsome. We loved the Very Merry parade... we skipped the first one and did the rides during it, thunder mountain 5xx in 45 minutes- AWSOME

HMMM I think the drive to cape may could be tricky. Alot of the street signs are mickey shaped. Then there is the HUGE ride billboards. Not to mention the buses that could be circling POR when you are leaving.

Is there a way for you to check in and have DH stay in the car with the kids then drive over to your room and you get out and put a Welcome to WDW sign on the room door. Then you can go back and grab a kid or call DH and tell him to bring them up and you be waiting at the door?

I could never keep it a secret from my kids so I give you a ton of credit. I am horrible with surprises I've been known to give DH his gifts before his birthday just because I am way too excited about them LOL.

We dont want to tell them that night we arrive after 10pm because then no one would sleep hehe Imagine that commercial and then know you are just a few miles from the parks!

Yes I assumed I would go into the lobby check in and then take everyone to the room so they would be unaware

It has been a little hard to keep the secret BUT it is sorta part of Christmas so that has made it easier. Also I feel like I need to be cautious, We usually go in September but we had a family meeting about cutting costs. We opted for no birthday parties for the kids this year and skipped our vacation... then something special happened and Disney became possible and with free dining slow week before Christmas and no school we jumped but if we cancel it would really upset the boys so easier to be a secret than to dissapoint

I just printed my ADR list off of the disney website and my Crystal Palace Dinner ressie for 3:30 on the day we are doing MVMCP is now magically gone. I called & the CM I talked to just gave me a headache. I will inquire again tomorrow, stinks because I checked to see if there was any openings and nadda is available =( Guess I am eating counter service before the party. What's good at the Grand Floridian? We'll be at the Alice Tea Party but how is their food court/counter service area?

Did you have a double reservation for that day? I've heard they do this from time to time if you double-book ADR's. We at breakfast once at 1900 PF and loved it. The food was good.

Wake them up (or have the wake up call), tell them it is time to get going to see Aunt so-so......then maybe pull out a letter, say it was slipped under the door and let the oldest read it- saying welcome to WDW! give them their treat bags and hoorah!

Yeah I think you are right... in the room in the morning

hum

we usually do tink gifts every morning. Usually matching Tshirts but with Christmas the next week and being able to wear the shirts they got last time I was going to skip it...

what to do?

worst part of this being a secret is DH and I barely get to talk about it so all ideas are mine because we always have witnesses

Thanks everyone

yeah for the poly, it is my dream to stay there sometime too. i am hoping for maybe a split stay next October with a few nights there (now that i have an AP, maybe AP rate?, lol). so jealous! the decorations are awesome- we love them. :santa:

so just booked my rental car through national. we are going with a full size (like an impala). i hope we can fit all our crap in there. I got it for 8 days for $226. not bad. The next step up in size is like $500, so we will just make it fit. lol- since we have a washer/dryer at BLT, i figure we need to just pack lighter anyhow. We also added a person today. Originally my mother in law was bringing along her husband, but they are now divorcing. we've known for a while now, but still had our reservation for 5 (me, DH, my son, mother in law and her hubby). now that he is NOT coming, we were just going to have 4. But now we are taking my niece too- she's never travelled anywhere really, heck, i don't think she has left her home state of Oklahoma even. her brother was in shock seeing 4 story and bigger buildings and had never seen the ocean either. So they havent' seen much in their lives- a little sheltered. She's 10 and it is her dream to visit disney. She is going to be so excited. Heck, i am excited to take her and see it through her first time eyes. They probably couldn't afford to take her otherwise, so glad we can do it and show her a magical time! that's why i love DVC! Now i have to look and see about maybe adding a BBB appt for her or a princess meal. We only have booked Chef Mickey's and CP for my son.

Did you try looking it up by the ADR reservation number? Not all of mine show up in my list and I have to look them up individually.

That's true. I almost had a coronary when I was looking at my ADR's and noticed that my Le Cellier + CP res wasn't listed. :scared1:  I looked it up by number and there it was.

I would've felt really bad for whatever CM I would've gotten trying to explain what happened.

Whew! :thumbsup2 I'm so glad it was still there. I had the exact same coronary the first time I looked at mine and found half of them "missing."

ADR list updated..

Tinkermom76 - sorry I didn't notice that double-up on your Le Cellier ADR... twice in one day is probably a bit too much.. even if it is a wonderful restaurant! ;)

63 days to go! ... I think Disney Florist can be booked from 60 days out - so think I'll be doing that soon :santa:

Where can I get plus size Disney shirts. I had saw (I think it was on this thread or another) someone had gotten a Disney robe. I want one!! But my fat butt wouldn't fit into any the Disney store has. :lmao:

Any suggestions??

Quick question to anyone that might know...

I'm going to the MVMCP this December. Anyone know if you can set a time frame in which they can break in your room and leave the gift gift pkg?

I just think it would be a nice surprise for those in my party to get the gifts after taking in the splendor and the shows.

I've read on another thread that the In-Room celebrations can be done between 4-6pm or 6-8pm.
I would phone the Disney Florist to talk it through & ask about times :thumbsup2

Other gifts from the florist are taken up to the rooms on the delivery date (after check-in if you're having it delivered on the day you arrive), you'll be presented the gift if you're in the room.. or it'll be left there for when you get back :goodvibes ... but, if the gift has alcohol in it (champagne etc) then you'd have to show ID - or it'll be taken back to the reception desk & they leave you a voice mail to let you know you have a gift!

When we last visited which was fall of 2008 we needed to buy some 5x and 4x shirts to take home to some people. We were directed to do our shopping at Port Orleans French Quarter and sure enough they had very large sized shirts and sweat shirts
