**Official December 2010 Thread!!**

We've been having an "issue" with stinkbugs at our house. So last night DH and I came home from the county fair to discover our room INFESTED with them. (EWWWWW!) And we spent about an hour vacuuming them up and getting them out of there. I had 2 brand new suitcases in our bedroom and they had even crawled into the one that was slightly unzipped and just made themselves at home. (again...EWWWWWW!) When I woke up this morning, there was a stinkbug convention on my ceiling. Spent 40 minutes vacuuming them up again. Then I realized that our central air was not working...and it has decided to be summer in MD again. I'm hot. I'm sweaty. And my room has "eau de stinkbug." And the A/C people can't come until this afternoon. Otherwise I'd have DH take out the window unit in our bedroom and seal off the windows. Came home from DS's lunch....and there was a stinkbug party going on. I had two baskets of clean laundry in there and had to take out each piece of clothing and shake the bugs out. And then this afternoon, I took the pictures off the walls, moved the furniture out from the walls and vacuumed behind them. DH sealed the A/C window unit with Duct tape (Just call him MacGyver! ) and we are waiting to see if we got most of them. Thankfully they seem to only be in our bedroom and not the rest of the house, but I am getting totally paranoid. I walk around with the vacuum cleaner in my hand and have started trash-talking to them. An occasional bug doesn't creep me out too much, but a blanket of them is completely gross!!!

omgoodness you are amazing for being so calm.. i have issues with being scared of bugs i think i would be in a hotel right now.. what the heck are these things?!??! im scared now! They better not come to NJ!

omg im going to cry lol.. I just looked stink bugs up and i had one of them in my house this morning! I called my husband at work freaking out about seeing it cause i have never seen a bug like that before.. please dont tell me this means im going to be infested now

Just read this....

If your home becomes infested with stink bugs, be wary before sucking them into the vacuum cleaner. Squashing them or vacuuming them will usually make the smell worse. Wear gloves if you need to handle stink bugs because their unique beaks are fully capable of biting humans. Although their bites are not harmful, you will feel something similar to a sharp pinprick if you are bitten. Not fun!

What is the likelihood that Disney will change those times before December?

Not very likely. They might add an hour but they won't take anything away.

Don't panic!!! First of all, we live in the country on 150 wooded acres. People in the city aren't having nearly as much issue with them. I talked to my mom today and she said that they will go away soon. It's just this time of year when they are trying to get inside the house. (Although today it's 90 degrees outside so you would think they'd stay outside!)

They were coming in through the gaps around the A/C unit in our bedroom, so unless you have a gap somewhere (open window or door) they won't come in like they did for us.

We haven't had any bites at all. DH picks them up and flushes them down the toilet all the time.

Yes, my vacuum does smell, but I'll just throw the bag away soon. The smell goes away after a while when I turn it off. I can live with that.

Yes, im crazy. I have 72 days left and i have started PACKING!!! I live up in MA, so the bathing suits, tank tops and shorts needed to start being packed away, so of course I started packing them in the suitcases!!!
I do know the weather can very cold, especially at night, but if its 75 degrees during the day, i will def. be wearing shorts!!

Stinkbug update: DH's duct tape fix seems to be working! Only one stinkbug in the bedroom this evening. He's a genius!

Coming from Michigan in December... I can totally agree with you on that one!! I will totally be wearing shorts if it's even close to 70!!

Coming from Vegas in December and anything less than 70 is freezing to us! I went outside late the other night and thought "Boy it's cold out here" checked the temp. when I went back in and it was 72. Yeah we're packing jeans and sweatshirts and jackets for WDW.

We are staying at AKV Jambo Dec 5th-9th and Nana and Aaron are staying at AKV Kidani Dec 12th-16th, while Jason and I are on Podcast Cruise 2.0. We will be attending our first MVMCP on Dec 16th.

Hey Shanan- welcome!!! so good to see you here! WE are there the 4th-11th at BLT, our new home. we are NOT doing the podcast cruise this year though- real bummer. I didn't know you were leaving Aaron behind on the cruise- how fun- lots of cocktails, right? He'll have fun with Nana anyways! There are a few of us from the moms thread doing MVMCP on Dec 9th- like Kelly.


oh and loving the 99cents milk too- i got me a gallon yesterday.

lol at the stinkbugs and ironing, we haven't veered off topic much until now- a break is always good. Poppy- so glad the stinkbugs appear to be gone, i hope they stay far away, they would totally freak me out!

They found black mold in my office, so I had to move to a new one. Right now I have no phone or computer - my cell doesn't even get a signal! BUT the thing I'm most upset about it that I missed all the OT fun while I was off the grid!!!
