December 7th-12th AKV
December 12th-16th Disney Podcast Cruise

We are staying at the Animal Kingdom Lodge, I was surprised when the travel agent I am newly working with recommended the AK Villas. We stayed at AK in 2002 and I don't remember the VIllas? Are they DVC?

Okay, would this be crazy? Do Universal on Thursday Dec. 9th (Harry Potter for DD16) It probably closes at 7Pm, leave there, do Sleigh RIde at FW (perhaps taxi there to save time) then Hoop Dee DOo at 9??

That sounds like a lot to squeeze in that time frame when you factor in travel times....if it were me, I'd be stressed the whole time wondering if we'd make it! I guess the HDDR is right there though....so maybe it would work! How far is Universal from FW?

I read yesterday that the lines to get into Harry Potter were 7 hours!!!!!!!!!!!! OMG! I would never wait 7 hours in a line! Even my DS who really wanted to go there said "Mom I think maybe we should wait a couple of years til it slows down."

Yes AK Villas are DVC. They have some Villas Jambo House which is the original AKL and they built Kidani next door which is all DVC villas. We own there and it is AMAZING!!!

i think that is a really close squeeze for time. if you leave Universal at 7 (assuming you have your own car), it could take 10 minutes or so with traffic to get back to WDW area. Maybe longer. I would just be worried about making it all. HDD does make you check in at the window usually first too. If you left Universal earlier than 7, then it might be doable and keep in mind the long walk to the parking lot from Universal back to the car too- build in time for that. If you are driving to FTW, you have to park at the main check in area and board a bus to the Pioneer hall area where HDDR is. You can be sitting there waiting for a bus for 15 minutes (last time we waited almost 20). You can't park directly at Pioneer hall. just something to keep in mind.....i think it is a tight squeeze and as someone else said, i would be stressing the whole time.

as for rain- it only rained one day on our last trip- dec 10-20th, 2009. however, i think it was the week before, it rained like crazy. you really never know in FL. We've been in december and have it be beautiful and 85, then in the 30s the next day. :confused3:rotfl:

Ok all, just got off the phone with a very helpful CM after making a change to my room ressie. I asked about the speakers for CP and when they would be announced. She said end of July, which seems to be the consensus, but she also told me who is confirmed, but couldn't tell me the dates:

Whoopie Goldberg
Trace Adkins
Isabella Rossalini
Marlie Matlin
Jodi Benson
Steven Curtis Chapman

So, its not looking like there will be any disappointing speakers! :wizard:

Interesting! Were they read to you in this order? If so, since we had already heard Jodi would be performing before Steven, it might be the actual order from 11/26 to about 12/15. I love speculating!

Booked our December trip last night! I haven't been in YEARS (like early '90s), and this will be my daughter's first trip. I am learning so much reading this thread. We are going for long enough that we will also try to hit Universal (especially Harry Potter - DD and I are fans) and maybe SeaWorld.

Welcome to the disboards! And to our thread!

Have you been to the Biergarten lately? For many years it was a "Don't miss" for us but they ruined it for us when they went to the buffet thing.. :( Hoping they go back...

Biergarten has been a buffet for years. I do remember it being an order-from-the-menu place back in '84, but as far as I know it's been a buffet since at least the mid '90s, which is when I started going to WDW on a regular basis.

Hey everyone! Just added an ADR to my ressie!

Wow I am excited to see how the dates match up. We arent doing the CP dinner. First off is a 2 ticket meal. That is crazy. Plus when we went in 2007, we still had to wait on a super long line. So this trip we are going to watch to see who is speaking when and just walk in before it starts. If not just watch from across the walkway. I am even more excited after hearing the list.:yay:

Are there cabs that go from US back to FW or do we have to rely on resort transportation? If we leave at say 6:30 - do you think we could get to FW by cab for a 7:30 or 8PM sleigh ride? then Hoop Dee Doo is at 9:30... I just don't want to make 2 trips to FW and am trying to squeeze in the sleigh ride while we are going there for Hoop Dee Doo! pixiedust:

I SO WISH that we could be there when Steven Curtis Chapman is but we leave the first day he is there (according to his website) I would like it if Jodi Benson is there, not really sure about some of the others but no way would I want to go to Ms. Goldberg hosting it. She has some very different religious beliefs than I do and Christmas is a religious time for my family...

Sorry I didn't get back on to respond earlier, but I had to make a trip down to South Jersey last minute and got caught up in the aftermath of traffic and storms.

I think that was close to the order she gave me, but it sounded like she was just recalling from memory who she saw was confirmed. She was trying to find the email she had that gave the dates for each but couldn't find it.

No problem, thanks for replying!

Hmmm....so if we know an email has been circulating, then they should release the dates already!! End of July....bah humbug! :santa:
