Emma--I read your entire trip report and enjoyed every word. It gave me several ideas for things we might want to try on our trip this December. You have such a wonderful writing style--I can almost "hear" you as I read it....and I found myself thinking, "Wow...I'd like to be friends with her--she's so much fun!" Your trip sounds wonderful. It got me even more excited for our upcoming vacation! Thanks for writing!

Thank you so much for reading my TR and for the lovely comments!
I'm glad it comes across how amazing our vacation was :goodvibes - it almost feels like a dream when I look back at the pictures now!! :cloud9:

So excited to go back again this December, this time with my fiance rather than my sister... can't wait to show him the World during the holiday season, there is definitely extra magic (and 'snow') in the air! :santa:

I just checked out your trip report, too, after seeing the comments here! It was awesome and inspired me to start a report of my own, haha!

I love that you guys went to Jellyrolls (I love that place!) and did all those meet-ups! Very cool!

We're going Dec. 3-10 at AKL. I decided the beginning of this year was flying by WAY too fast, so I went ahead and booked a December vacation so that it would go by A LOT slower! :rotfl:

We love going in December. It's just so romantic with all the decorations and music. DH and I are both so excited. We got the 40% off as well...so awesome! :cool1:
LOL, ain't it the truth, time seems to crawl by!!

Have any of y'all been in Dec. before? I went a lot as a child growing up but we never went in Dec. How are the crowds? When we went there were never tons of people and we would usually wait about 10-20 minutes to get on rides. How is the beginning of Dec.?
I also have a trip report from our December trip, which was Dec 10-20th. See the link in my sig, it is pretty long and lots of pics (and was a large party!).

Anyhow- i've been in December twice- the first time a few years ago, stayed at POR (and POP overflow was there) and it was that first full week of Dec. had a great time, crowds were minimal, had no problems with POP in the parks (only in the resort).

This most recent trip, just a few months ago......was amazing! 10 days at Wilderness lodge. The weather was fantastic- it only really rained once, the friday before Christmas week. Crowds were manageable and low for the most part, but we always go at opening and use FP, so we tend to manage crowds okay anyhow. however, that saturday before Christmas week- well we could tell the holiday crowds were arriving- we wanted to spend our last night at the MK and it was crazy crowded, like you can barely move down main street. that was on 12/19. But prior to that, crowds were good. weather was so nice- we wore shorts/t-shirts during the day and just carried a hoodie/jacket if needed. we changed into jeans and long sleeves typically for nighttime. park hours were nice too- although MVMCP does really throw a wrench in the MK plans (we did do MVMCP one night). We enjoyed the MVMCP, WISHES Dessert party and lots of great meals (free dining). plus staying in the WL at the holidays was great!!

Do they still do regular Wishes at MK during the winter? Is it just on different days from the MVMCP?

They still do it in winter, just not on MVMCP nights :)

Thanks, We are going with a group of 12....my family, parents, siblings and sisters family. None of them have ever been before and I really want them to see Wishes. We will be there for 10 days!

yep, there is still regular WISHES on non MVMCP nights. then holiday WISHES on MVMCP nights. Usually starting the week of Christmas (when MVMCPs are over), they start showing holiday WISHES instead (and the Christmas parade i think too).

If they go on the same pattern as last year and the year before they will start nightly Holiday wishes and the holiday parade on the 18th. If I remember correctly the last MVMCP is the 17th so if it is then the 18th is when they do it nightly. We always miss the MVMCP by one day.

We will be there in Dec! The 13-17th. We postponed our May trip. I'm sad that my trip is so far away now, but excited to spend Christmastime at WDW again!!

Tried to do the ticker thing just can't seem to make it work. Thanks to the Dis Member who emailed with instructions. I tried but still not working for me.

Oh well, I'm still so excited about our trip. We will be arriving on Dec. 19th, a day to late for the party but not for Christmas. We are hoping to get ressies for Christmas Eve in the Castle. I checked the Calendar for earliest date to call Disney Dining, I'll be on the phone first thing when they open up the lines on June 27th to try to get them.

We will be staying off property at the Orange Lake Country Club East Village so I plan to put up a small tree in the condo as we will be there for the entire week. I am hoping to be able to extend and spend New Years Eve as well, but so far no luck getting off work for that long.

My girls and I will be at WDW Dec 10th and 11th, staying at the Poly. Then from the 12th to the 16th onboard the Wonder for our first ever cruise. This is my second time during Christmas, but my daughter doesn't remember the first time, and of course my GD wasn't born yet. I can't wait to see their faces with the decorations.

I'll be there in December, the 9th to 23rd, with my two boys aged 9 and 6 and we all can't wait, this will be my 9th trip to the World!!:goodvibes
I have done a December before in 2007 and it truly was amazing, the lights and decorations, MVMCP, so many special things to see and do. i am determined to see the candlelight processional this time and take the boys on a sleigh ride, both of which i missed last time.

BarbieGirl Emma, i just read your whole trip report and it was wonderful, i actually shed a tear when you had to go home, so many fantastic memories, and wow did you get a lot in, top marks for the planning! i will definitely be looking out for trip reports in the future.

we just did a trip with a group like that, a lot of planning, but a lot of fun. we did go our own ways a lot!!! also, keep in mind you can try and see WISHES from outside the park too- like from the beach at the poly, at Ohana or from Cali Grill.

So what time is Wishes usually at in Dec.? Wishes is the Fireworks show, correct?
WISHES is the fireworks show at the Magic Kingdom. in the first 3 weeks of December, they only show WISHES on regular park nights. It varies on the time, depending on how late the park is open.

On nights when the MK closes at 8pm, it shows at 8pm.

On nights (typically Saturdays) when the park is open later, to 1am or so, WISHES is usually at 10pm.

There is no WISHES for regular park guests on MVMCP nights (tues, thurs, fri, sun). The park closes to regular guests at 7pm those nights and only MVMCP guests see the holiday WISHES later that night at 9:30pm. However, you have to purchase the additional MVMCP ticket to get in. You can always view holiday WISHES from the beach of the Poly, Ohana at the Poly, a WISHES cruise, GF beach or even the Contemporary (TOW lounge or Cali Grill etc.).

Starting Christmas week, they will start showing HOLIDAY WISHEs every night, usually about 10pm (as they have extended park hours that week).

You definitely want to make sure you schedule a night to see WISHES, it brings a tear to my eye everytime. If you are doing the MVMCP, you can see the holiday version there (which i thought was better than the normal). The holiday version is set to holiday music and slightly different/longer. The regular WISHES is amazing too.

So if we plan on being there Dec. 2nd, 3rd, and 4th(Thursday, Friday, Saturday) the only night we could see it in the park would be Sat. unless we purchased MVMCP tickets?

Finally got a ticker to work. I know it's early but I love planning our Disney Trips. We are planning where we want to spend each day and where we want to have dinne etc, etc. Its so much fun.

Thanks to everyone who helped me with the ticker thing.

yep, there will be a party on the 2nd and 3rd, so the 4th is your only night to see it in the park directly. Typically the MK will be open late that saturday too (1am probably) in order to 'make up' for the lost hours from MVMCP for guests not attending MVMCP. keep in mind due to the extended park hours, the MK is always really busy on those extended hours saturdays- if i remember right, it was like an 8 on the crowd calendar, while the rest of the week was like 4/5s. (touring plans website).
