Florida weather is insane in Dec. In 08 it was warm for the first 3 days. I mean low 80s it was gorgeous we went swimming. Then we woke up and it was cold. I think it was maybe 50 tops then the night hit and it was so cold. My darling DH said I am in Florida I am wearing shorts. Well lets just say I told him I told you so about a million times.

Then last year it was cold every morning. One morning it was in the 30s and then it would warm up to a balmy 58. I did not bring the swim suits since the forcast said it would never get to 70. Then WHAM one day its 80 and the kids are yelling at me because they couldn't go swimming.

So December weather is a crap shoot pack for anything and everything.

When we were there during Christmas week of '08, it was chilly the first few days, really nice and breezy. Great weather for touring the parks. Then, thank goodness we had a car because the weather jumped to 85-88 and we had to go to Walmart and buy shorts!! Christmas day was gorgeous out!!!

First, I want to praise my Hubby because after 20 plus years together and many vacations, he is finally participating in planning our vacation!:cool1: He was up late last night reading menus and looking at "food porn". I guess it's true about men and their stomachs!:rotfl2:

Second, I want to tell you about our 2004 Christmas vacation in the parks. When we got to Orlando, the weather was perfect. It was maybe in the mid to high 70's. This went on for 2 or 3 days. Then one morning we woke up and it was in the low 30's, dipping into the low 20's at night. The biggest selling items of the day were hot chocolate, caps and gloves. Thankfully, we came from a cold state and had jackets and sweatshirts, but we saw some people wrapped in large beach towels and blankets, hopefully on their way to buy warmer clothes.:confused3 This year, I'm planning for both types of weather. I'm not only packing shorts and Tees, but flannel lined jeans and wool coats as well!!:thumbsup2

Dec is definitely the month for crazy weather.

2006 (Our 1st Dec trip), it was nice and warm when we arrived, by the next morning it was cold 50 degrees and got colder as the week went on.

2007 was nice and warm during the days and cool at night

2008 was about 80 degrees during the day and 60 at night

2009 cold and rainy and miserable

2010 Hoping for much better weather.

I did see people wearing shorts and people swimming, but was told that they were probably from the north and this weather is warm to them. We definitely go prepared for any kind of weather.

Suzanne

Shall I plan on packing 3 outfits for each day? One "brrrrr it's cold" outfit, one "hey, it's nice out" outfit and one "good grief it's HOT" outfit? :rotfl:

We had sort of the same experience on our Jan. 2007 trip. It was in the 30's our first day at AK. We had to purchase mittens for DD and the rest of us were wearing layers. We wore the same jeans for about 3 days because I had only packed one pair of long pants for each of us! :rolleyes1 And the quote of the day after each and every attraction was: "Do you have your mittens?" :rotfl: That's a conversation I never expected to have at WDW!

December 17th-23rd!
Pop Century Resort!
Me and four other gal pals are all going down there and it's going to be our "College Spring Break" aka--We get drunk off Disney and ride TOT too much.
I am so pumped, the whole trip was on a whim and we even got ressies at Chef Mickey's! EKK!
I can't stop squealing.
We are also going to WWoHP so, this may be the best Christmas ever.

yeah, we just plan on layers. We had one year (I think 2005 or 2007) where it was freezing at MVMCP- we had on hats, gloves, scarves, the works. But that's the coldest I have ever seen it. It was like the upper 30s that night. We usually do a midday break in the room- so we do capris or shorts in the am, then change to jeans, long sleeves in the pm. we always carry a light jacket/hoodie and rain poncho all day long just in case. heck, it can get cold in some of the shows and restaurants! :rotfl::confused3

I have held back from making any more ADR changes (be strong Vicki!! ;)). I am excited about Via Napoli now- i have been reading some really great reviews on it (other than the fact it is pricey).

We leave on Friday am for our 4 day girls only disneyland trip!! so excited- we haven't been in over 25 years. We have a 6am flight to LAX on friday, so just working today and tomorrow! it's my bday on friday, so should be fun- doing dinner at steakhouse 55. i'll be posting pics on my FB!! so be sure you friend me (Michelle Easler Peters). :wizard::wizard::wizard::wizard::wizard::wizard:

All I have to say is Dec weather has made me very greatful to be a DVC member and have the washer and dryer. LOL We've learned to layer and deal with it. We will bring tees, long sleeve light shirts and one or maybe 2 hoodies. Last year I had the kids wear a tee, long sleeve shirt and a hoodie then we packed gloves and hats. It warmed up enough to remove the hoodies but when it got cooler later they had them to throw on. I'm hoping for warmer weather this year. But I guess I can't complain because the day after we left for WDW last year we got 9in of snow which was quickly followed by about another 36 but we were home for that mess.

Always pack with layers! No matter when it is.

I think it was the 2nd week in September in 2002 and everyday the weather was lovely and raining except 2

On those 2 days I wore every bit of clothing I had and bought a coat (I used socks as mittens)

We are able to sneak in a December trip thanks to some changes in schedules that happened unexpectedly. We will be there Dec 3- Dec 8, and we get to go to the MVMCP on the 5th!!

I think I'll like Disney in December. I can tolerate the moderate temperatures (55-75*) and thrive in the colder tepms (< 50*). I am like a human blast furnace. I walk around New England in jean shorts and a t-shirt when there is a foot of snow on the ground.

I think I'm ready. :thumbsup2

:cool1::banana::cool1::banana::dance3: Double Digit Dance Baby!:dance3::banana::cool1::banana::cool1:

Today was a big Disney day. ADR day for our March trip and yes I got everything and today is 99 days until we leave for WDW.

Oh but there is even BIGGER news then that. My DH, the amazing man that he is, FINALLY admited that he too LOVES Disney and he can not wait to go back. I always assumed he liked it and only went as often and bought DVC to make me happy. But nope he loves it too. Just knows that I like to do the planning so he acts like its no big deal so I can get all the glory. God I love that man!!!

Oh and how I found that out was pretty funny. I was looking for a Mickey Waffle maker and found the one I wanted on ebay but it was around $150. So I said no thanks. DH says and I quote "You can buy it but promise me they will taste as good as they do at WDW. Because I really miss Mickey waffles." LOL :cloud9::lovestruc

Does anyone have a suggestion for how much time to allow to see the Osborne lights at DHS?

Fantasmic! starts at 6:30 so I'm figuring we'll have to be in line around 5 or 5:15....Fantasmic will be over around 7:00...and the park closes at 8:00pm. Is 7-8 enough time?

Well as of today you can officially add DH and I to the December crowd...even better than that, you can add us to the Christmas crowd! We'll be there Dec 19-26th.
:santa::santa::santa::santa::santa::santa:

I haven't been to WDW at Christmas since my parents took me in the mid 90s. We don't plan on doing the Christmas party, but was hoping for other ideas of things to do since the parks will be packed.

Hey Chicky! Were at SSR! Thats our home resort. And on the WL for BLT & AKL! Will see if one pulls through! Im just excited to get there already!:cheer2:

No kidding! We're going big on the hotel since it's our first trip, and technically our honeymoon, but I am just excited to be going! I've look at some pics of SSR...it's seems like a huge property, but any resort with the word "spa" in the title sounds good to me!

Hey December people! So Baby Zuzu is off to prep school (she's doing a post-grad year for sports) and Mom Zuzu is having a tough time adapting to our extremely empty next (she's our only 1)! So, college Moms, how do you make it through the first semester? I've got our Disney planning to keep me busy, but working VERY hard on NOT texting, emailing or calling every hour to ask if she's warm enough, getting enough sleep, taking care of herself, etc. etc.

I know, I'm being silly.
