My random thoughts:
* I've watched DWTS since season 1. I am very rarely motivated to vote, however. I've voted in 3 seasons: for Maks & Erin, for Tony & Melissa (in the all stars season), & for Maks & Meryl.
* I cannot believe that Meryl is at the bottom of the leaderboard, &, if she goes home next week, I probably won't watch the rest of this season in protest.
* The bias & insanity of the judges (especially Carrie Ann Inaba) are ridiculous this season!
At first, I thought they were being really hard on Charlie to "prove" that he wasn't going to get to the top just because he's a gold medalist in ice dancing. But, now, for whatever reason, they just judge him way too harshly - except for last night, when from out of nowhere, he gets undeserved 10s across the board.
Also, how can they critique Sharna for slipping on her dress but say NOTHING to Derek for almost kicking over the stool? Or, going back, Carrie Ann remembers judging Charlie for something so she says she has to judge Meryl for the same thing as well "to be fair"? However, no one marks Derek down for almost kicking over the stool even though they marked Charlie down for not catching the cane?!
But, seriously, WHY are judging Charlie so unfairly & so inconsistently?
* Having ALM as a guest judge was an insult to the pro dancers. Hate her show & cannot stand her! I will watch Honey Boo Boo before I watch Abby Lee Miller.
And the things she said to Charlie were just crazy - I was like, "You are talking to an Olympic gold medalist. And it's not like he got the gold medal in skiing or something unrelated. He medaled in ice-DANCING. I think he knows a little..."
Loved what Maks said! And, you know it's the truth, when Maks & Derek (who are normally polar opposites on everything) are agreeing. Derek's slow clap behind Maks was awesome. And, after Derek & Amy's dance, when they were standing before the judge, you could tell by Derek's face that he really dislikes ALM & didn't care at all about anything she had to say.
If Maks & Meryl are voted off next week due to their low scores - thanks, in large part to ALM - it will be a disgrace. I usually don't the mind the judges & their scores so much, but I really do think ALM judged unfairly & didn't have the professional credentials or expertise to back up anything she was saying.
As a star or pro, while I would hate to leave the show, it would be one thing to be voted off due to a combination of the judges' fair & reasonable scores & viewers' votes, but I would hate to leave due to some idiot's ramblings, you know?
Also, her "suggestive" comments like "what's a one-night stand?" & "Look at me!" to James just made her look silly.
* I am also getting tired of the Amy drama. Yes, she's an inspiration. I cried like a baby when they showed videos of her dancing w/ her dad. And Derek is an excellent & talented choreographer. We get it. Sitting on a stool is not dancing, though, and anyone else would have been judged for the lack of dancing/content - especially by Len.
As an aside, I would think dancing w/ a broken rib would be at least as painful as dancing w/ a sore back. But not much was made of Danica while there was a big-to-do for Amy.
* The dancing duels should have been to the same style of dance. A samba is more difficult than contemporary. Also, while I'm not a dancer, I would think a samba side-by-side out of a hold & w/o a partner (like Danica & Meryl) would be harder than a contemporary & jive w/ partners (like Candace & Charlie/Amy & James).
That said, as much as I hate to admit it, I wasn't that impressed w/ the samba - something was "off". And I don't think Meryl much liked sharing the stage/spotlight. I think Danica's & Meryl's personal style & interpretation of the dance & music are different & don't mix well - which became more apparent because they were dancing side-by-side & not really "partnered" like Candace & Charlie & Amy & James.
* Also, I love Maks & Meryl! Adore them. However, their rumba was not my favorite, & I was so excited to see them do a rumba too! I love passion & drama as much as the next person. But I didn't like the borderline "abusive" tone at the beginning. I paused it mid-dance & remarked to DH, "I love passion & drama, but you don't have to have borderline abuse to have fiery passion."
* I was sad to see Danica go. I would have liked to have seen James, Candace (as much I like her personally) or even Amy go next. I was hoping to see either Danica or James in the finals w/ Meryl & Charlie.
