On The View this morning, Barbara Walters said that each "star" gets $200,000 for being on the show. The winner gets another $100,000.

That explains Kate Gosselin being such a ho for money, still doing things to be a celebrity for money, while leaving her kids. Supposedly, she will create a dance studio at her home & will practice there, and on weekends fly into L.A. to prepare for the show. . . except the show is on Mon & Tues. So, she will actually be away from the kids 4 of the 7 days of the week.

so....she's being bashed because she's going on a tv show, gonna have some fun and make money off of it, but no one says a word about her deadbeat ex who is doing....what...exactly?? because we all know he sure isn't seeing the kids 4 out of the 7 days of the week.

i just don't get all of the Kate Gosselin hate. yes i know, she can be a real witch sometimes, but who of us ISN'T guilty of that?

Because this is a DWTS, Season 10, thread and not a Gosselin thread. SHE is the one on the show. There is a Jon & Kate thread already - actually several.

LOUSY line up... I think the shark is JUMPING! :happytv:

I thought it was Dancing with the STARS. Where are the stars?

I think it's one of the best lineups they've ever had and I am very excited. Evan, Jake, Aiden, and Chad will provide me with enough eye candy to last a while.

Lysacek just won a gold medal, Aldrin walked on the moon, Ochocinco is a Pro Bowl NFL player, Andrews is a sideline reporter for ESPN... Not everyone's idea of "star" is the same. I'll take the four of them over Brad Pitt any day.

I don't understand why people have to be so negative about something harmelss that so many people enjoy :confused3

The best part for me (aside from the aforementioned hotness)? No Karina and no Lacey :goodvibes

I heard that this morning too.. Wasn't surprised about her being on the show (read it on the DIS - LOL), but was surprised to hear that she's building a dance studio on her "estate".. (And yes - they said "building".. Although I'm not 100% sure what that means..) Isn't she still crying the blues over not having any money - or has that phase passed?

With her attitude - and Shannon's attitude - that show could get ugly real quick if they decide they dislike one another..

I won't be watching - but I'm sure I'll see something here on the DIS about it.. LOL..

As long as the kids aren't in front of the cameras, I'm good with whatever she "thinks" she can make a career out of..;)

Haha, OK this might sound weird but this the first season I've actually been interested in. Same with a lot of people I know.

Previously, I only really wanted to see Shawn Johnson but for this season I'm excited for:

Buzz Aldrin- I cannot imagine anyone not routing him on... go Buzz!
Shannen Doherty- I loved Charmed when she was on it, too young for 90210.
Kate Gosselin- because well, I'm not a Kate hater. I'm not one of those people who have judged her from the media, I have actually seen the show pre-family meltdown.
Niecy Nash- I thought she was hilarious on Reno 9-1-1 and the episode of Monk she was on.
Nicole Scherzinger- I love PCD.

Nah... they'll become best friends.

Go Kate, Jake, Buzz and Evan:thumbsup2:thumbsup2 One of the best seson in a while. This is the most people I have liked in a long time.

It will be nice to see Dancer Ashley back she has been gone for a long time

I am not real impressed with the lineup this year, but of course I will watch it!
I am excited for Kate, and well, that is really the only one I know of well!
All the sports people are US athletes, so I haven't heard of them.

It is funny how the dancers are more well known than most of the 'stars'.

I am still waiting for Carlton from Fresh Prince of Bel Air to be on! His dancing on that show was so hilarious.

For many seasons they brought back a 80s/90s heart-throb (Mario Lopez, Drew Lachey, Lance Bass, Joey Lawrence, Joey Fatone, Cody Linley, Ian Ziering, Aaron Carter, Joey McIntyre) I loved watching them!

Funny how they keep having Beverly Hills 90210 people on! Ian, Jennie Garth, and now Shannon. Bring on Jason Preistly and Luke Perry and Brian Austen Green!)
Or Saved By the Bell kids would be funny too (they did Shannen Elizabeth and Mario Lopez from there)

Would love to see anyone from 7th Heaven too. Especially Matt or Kevin!

I hope Buzz wins, he's the only one who acomplished anything, I think walking on the moon beats all:thumbsup2 Plus he has the Disney Connection Buzz Lightyear:goodvibes

I'm not a Kate Gosslin fan AT ALL, but at least she is "working". I haven't heard of anything lately that Jon-the-man-ho has done for work to financially support his 8 kids. JMHO.

I'm with you. I do hope Jon will take up the slack and be with the kids while Kate is away earning some money. Glad she will be able to practice in her home, since that's less days she'll be away from the kids.
This is going to be a great show this season! Several I'll be anxious to watch this season. Not too thrilled with Pam Anderson, but I'll wait to see how she does before I decide if I will enjoy her on the show.

I am looking forward to seeing Evan. He is likely to be the best male star of the group. I hope Kate gets booted off the first week and goes back home and away from the spot light. I will watch the first episode with interest and which people of the group can actually dance.

I'm no fan of Kate--but the melodrama over her "work" schedule is getting old real fast. Having children should not exclude someone from a "job" in the "entertainment" field.

To each his own.

That aside--if the voting public is nice, she'll only be on for a week.:happytv:

I would guess that ABC is footing that tab. And if they don't, it is easily a tax deduction as a business expense since it is being "constructed" for purposes of her work in "entertainment".

Well that's good to know..:)

Although I'm obviously not a fan of hers (or Jon's), I'm surprised to see others post that they would like to see her "fall on her butt" - or get "booted off" within the first week.. Who knows? With some dance lessons, she might actually be good!

As long as she's not shoving the kids in front of the camera, I hope "something" works out for her - career wise.. Haven't been keeping track of either of them, but I'm assuming there's no child support coming in - correct? :confused3

I hope I don't sound like I want her to fall on her butt. It is inevitible that they will always include someone who doesn't have the acumen to learn the skill of dance despite their best efforts. Some are able to compensate with "fun factor" and their "personality" and others simply cannot.

For some reason--I am remembering Kate commenting (at some point in her series) about her lack of coordination. That coupled with some of her very planned spots, her ability to emote on cue in a real way isn't very good. She did one commercial for VTech that was an actual commercial with Voice Over and professionally, her VO was horrible. Absolutely mechanical and robotic and highly unbelievable.

I think the latin dances and the highly technical dances will be extremely difficult. I some of the more fun dances--will be easier for her (such as swing) even if by chance they end up not being technically accurate.

So I think she is going to struggle. She may have the capacity to learn, but I don't feel she will last at all. She could surprise me though. I just do not see her as a viable long term contestant. If she sucks the first week--I hope she is out promptly. I prefer the show to be a judgement on their ability to acquire skills and do a satisfactory performance rather than a popularity contest.

She isn't the first nor the last celebrity that I would have this opinion about. Some though--I don't know it until the first episode.
