Official "Castle" thread! Spoilers welcomed!

I don't think the actual dress cost $30,000. I remember reading awhile back that Luke said if you were to buy the dress retail that it would cost $30,000.

I think the dress is ugly. But I like the sentiment about the dress. I kinda got the feeling that Beckett had a little mother daughter moment with the fashion guru. Although she is not her mom I think she kinda took on the role this episode

I took a look at estimated actual costs in a reply upthread. I estimate the actual cost to make and fit it at somewhere between $8-10K, which is still not precisely chump change.

I agree that while attention-getting is always good for a TV series, negative attention can be a mixed blessing. I think that all things considered, Marlowe would have preferred that the money invested in that costume had elicited positive reviews. (He is well-known for running that show on a very frugal budget.)

I'm fairly positive that it will be auctioned, if for no other reason than to realize a charitable deduction in order to recoup some of the investment of making it. Someone is sure to buy it, there are enough Stanatics out there to make that a sure bet.

In case you haven't guessed, I loved "Dressed to Kill". As usual, the case took a back seat for me, but the Caskett moments were so great, I didn't care.

I loved:

the opening scene with Martha & Kate & the magazines. Kate looked like she wanted to run before Rick came in the room & saved her. Loved the "maybe they're thinking about the divorce rate". Loved the discussion of the venue, the kiss & Martha's "you're welcome"

the scene when Kate tries on the dress. Yes, that dress is far from what I would pick, but Stana Katic & Frances Fisher did a lovely job in the scene. Matilda's wistful "if I had a daughter..." and Kate's face when she realized her mother wasn't there got me big time. (especially as someone who's mom won't be there either)

When Rick found out the first available date was far in the future and he told his mom that he didn't want to wait any longer. (and when he changes his mind....)

the last scene between Rick & Kate, how she explained why she said no rather than pretend it's something else, how he understood why she said no ("It's stupid. No, it's human") how he's willing to give her more time (even after telling his mom he didn't want to wait), but how she doesn't even want to wait until September. And of course the "my mom would have loved you". Even writing that makes me sigh. Then the kiss, the forehead touch, and another kiss. So I guess they were saving them up!

But....did you notice how tall Kate looked when she first came into the room after trying on the dress? She looks like she's about 3 ft. taller than Matilda! At first I thought they had her standing on something, but she wasn't. Just a weird angle I guess.

And the second to last scene kinda bugged me. (the one when the big box is waiting for her) Yes, I am the queen of "it's just a TV show, so logic doesn't always apply" but that just didn't make sense to me. How did MK get her address? how did it get inside the apartment? why did Kate open the card & trust that it was from MK? This was a big topic the other day on Twitter, LOL.
For my sanity, I've let it go.

My first thought when that couple split up so a spring 2014 date opened up? It's bad luck! don't take it! :rotfl:

All in all, a really nice episode. No new episode next Monday (Olympics). At least this Feb. we're getting 2 episodes. In 2010 (last winter Olympics) there were no new episodes that Feb.

Part of it was angle, and part of it was platform shoes. You can clearly see them as she walks through the door and the camera pans up the dress. In bare feet, Katic is 5" taller than Fisher, but in this scene they had Fisher in kitten heels and Katic in 6 inch platform heels. Those shoes would have made a 5'9" woman stand 6'3".

Inside residential delivery is common in NYC in good buildings. The super will sign for the package and put it inside your apartment door for you. She probably recognized the box as being from the magazine; she would probably have seen others like it when she was there. (Though putting THAT dress in a box would wrinkle the heck out of the overskirt.) As for the address, that isn't all that impossible for those who have power. Miranda could easily have had her attorney's office trump up some reason to get it from the city, or even sent over an assistant to get it from the tax rolls. (Anyone who knows my full name and what city I live in could get my address from the same source.) She also might even have just asked in an off-camera moment, "So, where are you living now, Kate?" And Kate might well have identified the building, that's not uncommon for NYer's; they are always curious about good buildings. Then it would be a simple matter to take the package to the building and trust the super to deliver it to the correct apartment.

I loved Dressed to Kill also. Right now, I think it's my favorite. I've seen it at least 6 times since last week! And since it's already been posted on various websites, Bracken is back in 617. I was at the location in LA last week and saw him giving a speech for the show. Someone else posted some pictures they had taken of him, also. From tweets I've read, it sounds like it is going to be pretty intense. Stana was giving an interview for a Chinese station and had a huge bruise above her eye. She said some of the guys were beating her up!
