I have seen the things that can be ordered at AKL for the room (the chocolate animals) and the chocolate covered strawberries at GF. I was wondering if there was anything special I can order staying at the Boardwalk Inn. I would love to surprise my love with something special when we are there in October.

I will be staying at the Boardwalk next week and want a cake for my DD's 11th birthday. I don't want anything fancy but I do want something fresh, not frozen.
I am planning on going to the Boardwalk Bakery when I get there to order it in person. Has anyone done this?

Thanks in advance.

Lurkyloo .. i wasn't sure if i ever thanked you for all the info you gave me on ordering DD's cake so here it is .. Thankyou :thumbsup2

I will be phoning this week to see what i can order .. wish me luck everyone

Hello! I've read through this thread and seen all the amazing cakes that have been made for everyone for their special occasions at WDW. I'll be with my family celebrating my youngest son's 3rd birthday in February and decided to order a cake for him. I called the custom cake hot-line to order a Nemo cake to be delivered to Ohana's the night of his birthday. I did not anticipate having any issues with this, but what I got was someone who was completely unwilling to help me out. The woman I spoke with this morning told me the only thing they could do was put an edible image of Nemo on the cake and write what I wanted on it. I told her I was looking for something a little more ornate than that, like maybe Nemo and Marlin figures on the top with the cake itself looking like an ocean or maybe coral. She said they don't customize like that. I mentioned I saw a beautiful Nemo cake on an official Disney cake site (this one) that was made there, and she told me that the cake must have been made off site and brought in. I went on to explain that the photos were all of cakes made there and by various bakeries on site, like Grand Floridian. She still insisted that they don't do that and when I asked if there was some other number to call or someone else I could speak to, she said no. I did not end up ordering anything because I don't really want something so plain-ish. Did I do something wrong or call the wrong number? How are people getting this gorgeous custom cakes?? I'd appreciate any help or advice on this!! TIA!

Sabrina

Sabrina,

The majority of the cakes you are seeing are from The Grand FL, CR, or The Boardwalk Bakery. Most of the other places have basic cakes with images or a premade cakes. I think this might be where the confusion is coming from when you called to order a cake. If you want a special cake, but still want to go to Ohana's, I would either get a cake off site and bring it to Ohana's or order it from The Boardwalk and pick it up. You could also try calling Ohana's directly and see what they can do. I hope this helps.

We are going Jan.26 and eating at GF on the 29th I wanted to order a small cake(simple but pretty) for dh,dd and I. We are not celebrating anything just our first trip. Is it better to call the cake hotline or the resturant?

TIA

Cake Ordered!

I discussed design and budget with Brian from the Contemporary and we decided on:

8 inch
Vanilla Cake
Buttercream Filling
Buttercream Icing
Light Purple Fondant
Painted White Chocolate Tinkerbell
White Chocolate banner reading "Happy 25th Birthday Megan"
Sugar Flowers (roses, lilies, gerbera daisies etc.)
Colours: Request not to use green as a primary colour in the cake (other than Tinkerbell's dress obviously lol). Noted that I like light purple for fondant and pretty much any pastels for the flowers.

Cost $100.

Ordered for March 28th to be delivered to the California Grill. :goodvibes

You should call the cake hotline.

Hi,
Could someone please PM me Chef Brians email. I called the cake hotline and was given a long email for Chef Brian. When I sent my email, it came back as undeliverable. So I must have written it down wrong. Thanks.

I have read on the board that at restaurants you can order a 6 inch cake to celebrate. We will be celebrating my DH's 30th birthday while at disney world and I was wondering if you could get the cake delivered to your resort room? How much do they cost? And where can I order one? Thanks!:thumbsup2

Another cake ordered with Chef Brian:

8" Chocolate cake
buttercream icing
Blue fondant
Hand Painted, White Chocolate Cinderella
Pink Roses
White Chocolate Ribbon "Happy 40th Birthday To Our Princess"
$100

We will be enjoying it next week at The Wave!

I need some cake advice.

I want to order a cake for our upcoming trip, or better yet, 2 mini cakes so that I don't have to choose a flavor or have too much left overs.

I would like to do it on the first night where our plans include:
Dinner at Captain's Grille at 5:30
Watch Wishes from our room at the GF (8:00)

I am expecting to be done dinner at 7 (we will arrive early)

I was thinking my 3 options would be:
Order from Pat at the GF to be delivered to room at 7:45
Order from BW Bakery to be delivered to Captain's Grille
Order from BW Bakery and pick it up before dinner, bring it to dinner in a bag and then back to GF to eat - Is this practical? How long can the cake go without refrigeration?

Which is my best option? If you have ordered a cake at Captain's Grille (or any other restaurant), how long did you wait for it after your meal? If I should order from BW, can someone provide the number.

Thanks!

For Captain's Grille, you would order from YC/BC private dining. They make very nice cakes. IMO, better than Boardwalk Bakery's cakes I've seen.

We are going to be celebrating 2 birthdays on our next trip.

Does anyway know where to get a good Goofy cake or if we can order one from one of the disney bakeries to pick up since they don't deliver to Pop Centry.

Next cake is where to locate a good Cheshire Cat cake or can we order one from one of the disney bakeries and pick it up.

We don't have dining plans for either b-day as of yet. Also if anyone has pictures of either one of these type cakes that would be great.

Thanks,
Theresa

My dd is turning 15 and wants to eat at 50s Prime Time for her bday dinner. Can I do a special order cake in the design of the Mad Hatter cake but only the first layer and have it at this restaurant? THANKS!!! I'm trying to surprise her.

I'm planning on ordering a cake for our Valentine's Day dinner at Narcoossee's. I'm thinking of calling to order tomorrow. Should I call tomorrow or wait until closer to two weeks out?

Thanks.

I have a couple questions as I've been following this thread for quite a while now. I had originally mentioned that I had wanted a POTC/Mickey themed cake similar to the Star Wars Mickey one day waaaaaaaayyyyyy back on the thread. I'm undecided on a theme now - may go with something else, but as I've read the thread, I'm still torn over WHICH bakery to choose from and HOW I should really go about it. We really want to pick up the cake and take it to our villa. We're staying in the Treehouse Villas. So here are my thoughts:
1. WHICH bakery - we have a reservation for Chef Mickey's and I keep hearing about the Contemporary's cakes being good - but I don't know why I was thinking that a custom cake at CM's just wouldn't work... (If it will, I may try to change the ressie to later in the week because I'd like to bring some cake home for my parents.)
2. HOW - if we want it in the THV can a pick up by myself or my husband be done at Contemporary like it can at Boardwalk Bakery? Also can a pick up be done at Grand Floridian? I'm not sure I want to use GF because it seems that GF Bakery has been really hit/miss so I think it's either Contemporary or BW for me.

Any additional advice? 5 adults and 2 children in the party
I'm thinking 8 or 10 inch Vanilla with Chocolate Mousse, either POTC/Mickey theme or something with Mickey/Football related that says Happy Birthday Steven & Ryder on it!

TIA

The BW is your only option for a pickup, none of the other locations have a retail option

Others have recommended publix, is that an option?

I will be spending my 25th Birthday at WDW (woohoo! :woohoo:) and I've been looking at all the amazing specialty cakes in the gallery.

My parents are taking me to Victoria & Albert's on my actual bday (March 25th) and there is no way I could stomach a cake after that meal  so initially I thought I wouldn't ask for a cake....

However, after seeing some of the amazing work by Chef Brian at the Contemporary....I want one!! :rolleyes1

A few questions for anyone who has ordered from the Contemporary.

1. Do they allow you to order a 6 inch or 8 inch cake as a custom specialty cake? There are only three of us, so 10 inch seems a bit excessive!

2. Do they have the same flavors as the Grand Floridian?

3. Do they automatically paint the white chocolate figures (i.e., Tinkerbell) or is that something that needs to be requested/costs extra?

If I had to pick...I would go with Vanilla Cake with Dark Chocolate Mousse filling and White Buttercream Icing. In terms of decorations...I would love purple fondant - sugar flowers, accents of white, green and silver and a white chocolate painted Tinkerbell on top :goodvibes

Now...I just have to get my mom to call the Cake Hotline in March ;)

I just ordered an 8 in cake from Brian at the Contemporary. It will be vanilla with chocolate mousse, have fondant, flowers, a minnie bow on top of it. The only thing you want that I didn't request is the Chocolate tinkerbell. I imagine he can do it though from the pictures I have seen in the gallery. He is very nice and was very accomodating to my requests. Just make sure you ask for him when you get to the cake hotline for the Contemporary.

Thanks. I don't want to do Publix only because we want it to be a "WDW" made cake. I know, maybe that sounds quite silly since I've heard some aren't that great, but we just want to make it special for the boys.

Are the custom BW cakes REALLY good and just as nice? I think the Star Wars Mickey cake was from BW Bakery, but I can't really remember.

I might just end up with the Mickey Ganache cake though anyway which looks good and everyone here seems to agree TASTES good!

I would like to get an anniversary cake for my husband. Any ideas where I can get one and do you think I will be able to get it on the same day I order it.
