Custom cake ordered from Yacht & Beach Club Private Dining - I ordered enough for about 40 people because we were having a DISmeet. The small round was vanilla cake with chocolate buttercream filling and the large round was chocolate cake with vanilla buttercream. I did not want fondant so they used blue tinted frosting ... it tasted great and stained everyone's fingers and tongues! The bakery staff even painted the chocolate Goofy statue that I requested for a cake topper.

We had this delivered to the Beach Club Solarium about 9:30PM on a Saturday evening ... and I did not do any follow up calling, other than to call my "contact person" in private dining a few days in advance to let her know that we were on property if she needed to reach us. Everything was perfect - I loved the final result and the cake tasted great. :thumbsup2

I also turned 40 this year, so I am dreaming of having a piece of that awesome cake while loving your photos !!! That cake is way too cute !!!!!! Happy B-Day !!:santa::santa::santa:

Great Goofy cake! I love that it looks so good despite being frosted in delicious buttercream! :thumbsup2

Are the so called "podium" ordered cakes available at the Plaza...please advise...we leave in 3 days...thanks

Yes - they are available at every Disney restaurant. If for some reason the Plaza is out of them, you can walk two doors down the street and buy one from the Main Street Bakery (although it may still be frozen...).

Hey! Does the Boardwalk Bakery deliver to any Disney restaurant? I've seen lots of posts about them delivering to some. What about Rainforest Cafe in DTD? Has anyone had a cake delivered there?

It delivers to restaurants at the BoardWalk. Because Rainforest Cafe is not owned by Disney, you would have to call the restaurant directly to find out what your options are.

Help! I'm overwhelmed! I have looked over this board and I think I'm in cake overload! I want to order a cake for my DS birthday (6th) on our next trip. We will be having dinner our first night at Whispering Canyon, I would like to have the cake on our first night so we can snack on it the next day or so.
Has any one had a cake delivered to whispering canyon and if so how do I go about getting one delivered!

Call Wilderness Lodge and ask to be transfered to Private Dining. They can take your cake order and tell you what your options are.

Thanks! And happy birthday to you, too! :goodvibes

Thanks! I know fondant might have yielded a cleaner look, but since we were serving it to a fair number of people I didn't want to deal with peeling the stuff off before eating it. It tasted wonderful and I loved the whimsical feel that it had.

Since I wanted the tiered rounds I was quoted wedding cake pricing ... it came about to about $300 before tax and the 18% gratuity - high, but it also included delivery, set-up, plates, silverware, napkins, and cake-cutting implements of destruciton. They did offer a sheet cake that would feed 50 for about $80 but my options for decoration were really limited and I wanted the rounds. And my hubba told me to get what I wanted so I did - it was a once in a lifetime kind of thing so I don't mind that we paid what we did.

Marzipan?? Wow, I've never heard of a cake with that on it before. Usually the Mickey cakes have ganche or frosting pipping on it.

I'd call back and ask again and ask for ganach or frosting.

I thought the exact same thing. Personally, I like marzipan but I know a lot of people that do not. Thought it would be odd that MK bakery would do that. Ganache would be my first choice but when I didn't think I could get it I asked for the piped frosting. I'll be calling back tomorrow. Will post what I find out.

I think I know the answer to this but will ask the cake experts anyway...

Anyone know if I can get a custom cake delivered to Tony's in the MK or will I be stuck with the small podium cakes there?

Thanks!

You can call MK bakery directly to order a custom cake, although your choices are very limited. 407-824-7091

Brenda -

Your cake looked great - glad you enjoyed it. Hope you had a wonderful birthday trip!!

That Goofy cake has one of the best buttercream icing jobs I've ever seen, wow! It looks adorable AND delicious! :thumbsup2

Just because it's as clear as mud to me ;)...

If you want a cake from the Boardwalk Bakery, you can:
a) pick it up
b) have it delivered to Boardwalk restaurants. Does that include all the current? - Big River Grille, ESPN Club, Kouzzina
c) have it delivered to SSR bakery, but not any other hotels (ie. mods)?

I wonder if I should call and double check on my cake for next Monday at Jikos????

Great Goofy cake!!!
I'm getting so excited to see the one I ordered!!! 6 DIS friends at BLT 11/12-16 & I ordered a cake to celebrate!!!

Does anyone have a direct phone number for Pat at the GF or an email address?

I phoned the cake hotline and got put through to someone at the GF who then put me through to Pat and I got her voice mail. I left a message but havent heard anything - I'm wondering if its because i'm in the UK and there may have been confusion with my phone number :confused3

If anyone could give me any of her contact info it would be greatly appreciated :grouphug:

DD's 10th birthday is on Nov. 5 (in 8 days) and we have ressies at CM that night. I'd planned to order her a custom cake weeks ago, but I've been very ill and didn't get to do it. It doesn't have to be too elaborate, but I don't want her to get stuck with a podium cake because of me.

It's our first time at WDW and she's so excited to spend her b-day there. I really wanted it to be special, but I don't even have gifts for her yet. We leave Sat. night and I'm a little upset at how things are turning out.

Is it too late to order something custom-made for Nov. 5?

Sometimes it takes awhile for someone to get back to you, depending on when your date is.

If you're truly concerned, call back, ask to speak with her, and if you receive her voicemail again, ask her to call again and provide an email address to reach you as well (if that's a preference).

Emailing directly when you haven't been given the email address by the Grand Floridian can be an issue. If she hasn't received your voicemail, she won't know who you are and if an order is placed. So it's best to go back where you started and follow up.
