Does BW bakery deliver to the BW restaurants? I'm guessing Spoodles & Flying Fish. Maybe, ESPN & Big River Grille, but we aren't interested in eating at either of those.

I know you said you weren't interested in ESPN, but for others who might be, we had a cake delivered there last Sept. from BW bakery. I asked for a football theme and it had Mickey with a football - very cute. The taste was just okay. I'd seen others mention that the icing tasted like Crisco, but never really understood what they meant until this cake - that's exactly what it was like.

That's exactly what we ordered for my DD's 6th birthday at the GFC. There's a pic of it on the cake porn thread. It has been a year and a half so the rules may have changed, but when we did it, we had to order a 10" or larger cake to get the strawberries in custard filling. It was AMAZING but way too big for the 4 of us, though it did make a nice breakfast the next morning.

We are staying at Pop next week - I know they only have the pre-made 6in. cakes there, and there is nowhere that delivers, as far as I have heard, to Pop. However, I want to get a larger, made-to-order cake (probably 8-10in.), I guess to pick up and bring back to our room. I don't know if we will be eating out that night, or where, so I'm thinking we can just celebrate dp's birthday with a cake back in our room. I think I can get someone to pick up the cake for me and bring it back while we are on a carriage ride, but I am wondering where would be the easiest place to order it from (if I have a choice?) if I am going to ask someone the favor of picking it up for me. Also - is the cake line pretty easy to work with - I'm not sure yet what I want and I don't want to annoy anyone!!!

DH and I are staying at the Wilderness Lodge for my birthday. I am not really interested in getting one of those cakes that looks like a grocery store cake. Can we order a cake from the GF bakery and have it delivered?

I ordered a 10" buttercream icing, yellow cake with custard/strawberries filling from GF Bakery in Sept 2007 for our 25th anniversary. I arranged to have it delivered to Narcoossee's. The cake was beautifully decorated and really delicious!

May 2008 I ordered the exact same cake from GF Bakery delivered to Narcoossee's to share with the entire family (we'd raved about our anniversary cake so much). I was disappointed in the decorations - no creativity or special Disney touches at all. It was a carbon copy of many cake pix I've seen in these forums.

What was really bad was that the cake was so dry that none of us ate more than a bite. We're not complainers but our server took one look at the uneaten cake and understood. He took the cake off the bill and sent GF bakery a note letting them know that the cake they delivered was inedible.

I've decided for this May's trip, I'm going to order a cake from either Beach & Yacht Club private dining or BW Bakery. We had an 8" cake from BW Bakery last year and it was delicious.

I haven't had the best luck ordering cakes at WDW. In Oct. 07, I ordered an 8 inch for dinner at Garden Grill for my daughter. I ordered it a couple of weeks in advance through the hotline. We got the cake, but the Happy Birthday and my daughter's name were almost unreadable. It was just scratched on there. Clearly it was not prepared in advance, and the server just wrote her name on there. It looked terrible.

I let it go and tried again the next year, Oct. 08. This time we were at Tony's. I ordered in advance and went over the order twice with the customer service agent on the phone. When we got the cake at Tony's, the cake was correct, but my daughter's name was spelled wrong.

When we went in Feb. 09 for my son's birthday, I was worried about ordering a cake for him. I saw that the website offers the new "celebration cakes" and I thought I would give that a try since it would be hard to mess up. Our original birthday reservations were at coral reef. The website said the pirate cake was available at Character restaurants so I called dining to see about switching reservations to one of those restaurants. The dining rep assured me it was also available at Coral reef. So I ordered one and kept my reservation. When we arrived at Coral Reef, they did not have a cake order. The manager did not know what a celebration cake was. He treated me like I was a complete lunatic and said all he could do was offer me one of the pre-made, non personal cakes they have. So that is what we did.

Sorry this is so long. Those are my 3 experiences. I've struck out 3 times now, so I won't be ordering a cake from Disney again. I'm glad to hear that most of the orders work out. I'm not sure why I've had such bad luck.

Sorry to hear you've had so much bad luck. I think a lot of people have similar experiences. They may not be DISers so they don't have a forum to vent or they lurk here and don't post or they don't return to this forum once their trip is over.

More often than not, seems like the magic of Disney no longer spreads to cakes. Perhaps it's their own fault - they made such magical creations that news spread and they're no longer able to keep up with demand.

That said, I'm going to try once more in May (DS's 21st birthday) and see what happens. Will let everyone know how it works out.

I just ordered a cake from CSR for my honeymoon (2 years after being married). And it's a simple cake - double chocolate for $20. I will have pics after we get back! Hope it's good. And they are putting it in our room before we get there *surprise for the DH*

I'm not sure what I should do...should I order a cake for my daughter or not?

We are having dinner at CRT for her birthday in about a week! I was just going to do one of those cakes you can order when you get there....now I'm not sure. I'm sure my daughter will be happy with anything (she will be 8) as all cake is the same to her, I think.

There will be seven of us, 4 adults and 3 kids.

Don't be disappointed, if it's not in your room, when you arrive. They usually won't put anything in your room, until you've checked in. Just a friendly warning.

Ok, sorry if this is a stupid question or one that has been asked over and over...this is my first post! My fiance and I will be at WDW for our honeymoon in May and our last night there we have ADR for Coral Reef. I would love for them to bring out a special cake as a surprise for my fiance (guess he will be husband then ) to make the last night of our honeymoon extra special! I just wanted to make sure I have this right...do I just call Coral Reef and tell them that I would like to place an order for a celebration cake for the date and time of our ADR? Is there anything else that I need to make sure to tell them? Do you get to pick the flavors and stuff? I don't want a cake that just looks like I went to the local grocery store bakery and picked up a pre-made cake out of the cooler! I may be trying to make this way harder than it seems to be, maybe my brain is just fried from all this wedding planning stress! Thanks in advance for your help!

Welcome to the Dis!

If you check out the first post it lists the Cake Hotline number, which is the number to call for your cake requests. Many have sent photos of sample cakes to Disney and they have replicated cakes for them.

As for flavors, there is some wiggle room there, just call the cake hotline and let them know what you want. They'll help you wade through all of this.
