Official Breast Feeding Support Thread for WDW Parks

My 4yr old loves the baby centers. They always have a Disney movie on. Even though I've stopped nursing, we still go in there for diaper changes and hang out mid day and maybe have a snack. Another option is to time the nursing with shows like Disney Jr Live, Beauty & the Beast, etc.

I will try to do that! Thanks for the suggestion!

You can nurse in the moby! It takes some practice so you may want to try at home a few times, but it should make things easier on you!

I've never been successful at nursing in the moby but I'm gonna practice between now and next week.

I agree. I nursed my DD in her carrier when we went to disney. Never slowed us down cause we could just go on the rides and continue on our day.

but just today realized I should look into attitudes at Disney on toddler nursing and find some tips

It has never been an issue for me. My nursling was 3.5 years old on our last trip and nursed in public about once a day in the parks. For the trip before, he was 2.5 and nursed several times a day in public still. (He has sensory issues and was on 100% breastmilk at 2 years old, so that's a lot of nursing in public!)

welches- at that age, a lot of Disney nursing was done on rides. :) If I had to sit somewhere and nurse for longer, then hubby would go off with the other child/children and I'd catch up. It didn't happen much - it was the diaper changes that took up more time since I couldn't do that during rides!

Thank you, thank you! I was getting a little worried doing mostly reading on tiny infants and places to hide out. He still nurses like 6 times a day, at least, and doesn't eat as many solids as lots of other toddlers his age. He's a little on the small side so I don't want to take away the awesome calories and fat he gets from mama milk! He's mostly interested in nursing :) so a long day in public and he will definitely need to nurse a couple times. He's a pro now, it doesn't take long, and we can nurse in carriers no prob. It's just nice to hear you nursed an older toddler with no problems. Thanks again.

Anyone have any tips for pumping/breastfeeding at Seaworld?

Seaworld has a very nice baby center too. It is located in the Shamu Harbor play area. I have not had to pump but I have used the changing room there and I know they have nursing rooms. They have a fridge and other supplies but I don't know what the policy is on the use of the fridge.

We're planning a trip to WDW in January. I still nurse full time, but the baby is staying home so I will be pumping at the baby centers to keep my supply up. Does anyone know if it's possible (if any would even want it) to donate the milk while at the parks? I hate to dump that liquid gold!

That's actually the only baby care center I've used out of all 7 Orlando Parks. It was early Feb in 2010 and record cold weather. The baby care center was located much better than other places - near the kids rides area and the big cargo net. So, I hung out with the 11 month old in the babycare center warming up. The 6 year old played with hubby in the kids area. And the 3 year old went back and forth to warm up and play.

As for nursing, I nursed wherever, whenever and it wasn't an issue at all. The babycare center was great for a warm-up place though! They had a few toys that my 3 year old could play with too.

It was really nice ! I'm very impressed; we will be renewing our Seaworld passes when the time comes.

Thought I would introduce myself quickly. I will be in WDW in February with my nursing 11 month old. He's my 3rd child but the first to go to Disney while nursing. We nurse in public all the time and I did with my other two kids so I don't expect any problems there. I wish I could figure out how to nurse in a carrier. My ****s are way lower than his head when he's in any of my carriers (beco, moby wrap, mei tie). I can't imagine the angle to get that to work.

Have you tried a ring sling. Easier to drop him down to the level you need and then readjust back up. Also moby for his age I am sure he has out grown. I know they say 35lbs but if he is sagging down and you need to adjust or hold him to keep from falling out time to stop using. Also if he can kick back and you have to grab him so he doesn't fall out that is another sign. They say 35lbs cause that's the max weight the material can take before it rips.

I have two ring slings - one for regular wear and one for wearing in the water. They are my least favorite at this age because I do have to watch him more closely to make sure he doesn't flip backwards or squirm too much to loosen his way out of the bottom. He's 6 months now - will be 11 months at the time of our trip.

The beco is our favorite. Easy in, easy out, easy to transfer to dad.

The moby is what we use if I'm going to be wearing him for a long time. I wore my 2nd child in it until she was over a year old without any issues. Her birthday is in October and I know I wore her in it when we went to cut down a Christmas tree after she turned one. She and I were the only warm ones that day.

I have tried nursing in the ring sling with both of my older kids in the past. I haven't tried with DS. I found that by the time I got the sling loosened and all my clothes rearranged, it was easier to just sit and nurse. Maybe I'm just not cut out for nursing on the move.

New to this thread and never nursed in WDW, but will be in full force nursing for our upcoming trip in January! The thread is rather long, so if anyone can give the most useful tips, I would appreciate it! Are there any no no's when it comes to nursing? I am very free and open about it, as in, i don't do cover ups/drapes/blankets/etc, although i also don't show anything. Will I run into any problems? Our little Disneymoon souvenir will be just under 3 months when we go home, and I want to make it as smooth a trip as possible for all of us!

Thanks!

No problems at all. You can nurse where ever and when ever. CMs will not say anything to you. I think nursing with a cover draws more attention. I nurse without anything too and no one even realizes what I am doing. I nurse on the rides too and in our carriers, wraps or slings. Have a magical trip. Of course if you want a break and get out of the weather the baby centers are available.

Thank you! That is kind of what i was figuring/hoping! I agree, I attract more attention trying to set up a tent over baby than I do if I'm just natural about it! I'm hoping to learn how to nurse from his sling too! We'll see!

Good gracious. You would think I hadn't learned basic math. The baby is almost 7 months now and we leave in just over 3 months. He will be 10 months, not 11 months when we are in Disney. Not that it really matters. My lack of math skills just baffle me sometimes ... especially since I'm a tax accountant! :rotfl2:
