Official Breast Feeding Support Thread for WDW Parks

I highly doubt any kid would even notice you nursing, there's so much more to see in Disney. And who cares what their parents think, you'll never see them again. :thumbsup2
too true!

This. Also, all that has to be said is that a mommy is feeding her baby. I haven't explained the full bit about birds and bees to DS7 and he's still totally accepting of the fact that I'm feeding his sister and doesn't question things any further.
TRUE. i'm glad i found this thread. i'm no longer scared of the responses/stares i may get this august! lol :goodvibes

I read this thread all the time but never post. I breastfed my son at disney when he was 11 weeks old. I plan on breastfeeding him at disney again in september when he will be 15 months old. I love breasfeeding!!

I'll be there then too -- nursing my 13 month old, if he's anything like big sisters! :thumbsup2

I've nursed my two girls at Disney at various late infant/toddler ages and never had any problems.

I thought of this thread tonight while I was out to dinner. LO started crying to be nursed and I didn't have time or room to fuss with the cover so I just latched her on figuring people would mind her crying over her NIP since they couldn't see her anyway. They also sat us at a booth when I requested a table, so there wasn't much room to get it on and get her under it. Well, after the hostess noticed she whispered to one of the waitresses and soon enough there was a parade past my table, all getting an eyeful. I was SO ticked off.

They probably just wanted to see the sweet little baby :lovestruc

I agree, if there was a noticeable attention difference, it was probably due to other mommies looking at the baby..... I am guilty of that sometimes....

Great thread!! I nursed both my kids and was damn proud of dedicating myself to my kids to do the best for them!! I was very good at covering myself up so I never used a cover. And even if i wasn't great at it I still wouldn't care because there are breast all over society but they are seen as sexual instead of nurturing!! Scantily clad girls, pin ups even Miss America in their bikinis show a heck of a lot more than most BF'ing moms do! It really bugs me how ignorant some people are with there side eyes. Lucky for me, I dealt with those feelings early on and pushed it back on them then went happily back to BF'ing my awesome babies :lovestruc

Hi, everyone! :wave2:

I know that this has been talked about a lot, but also know you all don't mind! :goodvibes

We're going at the end of May, and I'll be nursing my second child who will be ten months old. This is actually sort of new to me, because I exclusively pumped with my first (long story). I've never really gotten good at NIP, persay, although I don't hesitate at all if I'm in my car to just do what needs to be done. :lmao:

I love nursing the little guy, but as far as covering him up, he just will not be covered. He's at the age now where everything is interesting, and also, he gets super hot, even under a light receiving blanket, so I'm not quite sure how I'm going to manage. It's not so much that I worry about offending other people more than I would like to have a little modesty and not be flashing the goods, so to speak.

He is eating solids now, and starting on finger foods, so it's not necessarily that he nurses a lot during the day, but he still is nursing.

Anyway, my long and convoluted point is, do you all have any other suggestions? I know some people had mentioned putting a wide brim hat over baby's head, but I don't know if he'll just pull that off as well.

Any help is always appreciated. I love the support here, it really makes me feel like I can do this.

I will be nursing at WDW next week! My second is 10 months old and nursing frequently.

My oldest will turn 4 next week - at WDW!!!! 5ish years is nice spacing though. I am 5 years older than my sister and 6.5 older than my brother.

Nice! Have a great time celebrating a birthday at Disney!

Simple solution...just don't cover up. :rolleyes1 LOL! Seriously though, it's nothing to be ashamed of, so I never covered up while nursing since I don't put a blanket over my head while eating, I don't see why moms cover up while their kid is eating. I understand the whole modesty thing....if you're that nervous, there's plenty of places to "hide". If you're worried about the attention, honestly I think covering up draws more attention then not..JMO. Moms need to stop hiding this so eventually it becomes the norm. :)

I know what you're saying is true, I know it is the simplest solution, I'm just not there yet! :lmao:

You never know though, I may be bold. I think actually, it might be easier to not cover up there than at home. Quite frankly, when am I ever going to see people on vacation again? I currently stay home with the kids, but I used to be a bank teller, so everyone within a three town radius knows me. It's impossible to go certain places without running into former customers. And there are some people I'd just rather not show them to. :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

I got ya! :) I know everyone's different and some moms don't feel comfortable...it's unfortunate but that's how it is. I'm all about doing what's easiest, lol....I know it's not easy covering up a 10 month old. They ARE so curious and pull the blanket down, pop off with no notice to turn completely around, etc etc. :rotfl: I'm pregnant now and this time unfortunately won't be a SAHM, so I'll have to deal with the pumping....whole new experience for me. I'm scared, lol.

Well, if you have any questions regarding pumping, feel free to ask. I did it exclusively for nine months with my first. This one, because I'm staying at home, I tried to pump for a while just to have a bottle to give him but discovered it just wasn't worth it. Giving up pumping in that case was really freeing.

My two boys were the same way, they wouldn't tolerate ANY sort of cover or hat. ;) They best thing I ever wore were nursing tanks with a button down shirt over them... that way I had tummy coverage for myself :thumbsup2 and my shirt helped with side coverage for the baby. :goodvibes

Thanks! I am very nervous about it. I know some moms aren't good pumpers...I tried out of curiosity when my daughter was about 10 months old and only got a few drops! I had a crappy manual one the hospital gave out, so that may have been part of the issue. I plan on buying an expensive one that I know will work wonders. What kind did you use? Also, heating and all that...I know you're not suppose to heat in the microwave, so do you just boil some water? This is all info I'll have to educate the babysitter on because I'll nurse when I'm with the baby. It's going to be a hard experience...I'm sure will work out.
