Official BLT Square Footage Per Our Guide (Plus Other Info, Too!)

OK, first off, our guide told us the main reason for confusion/misinformation circulating is due to the fact that the Travel Channel show (which will introduce BLT) was moved up from Oct. 5th (or so) to tomorrow. They didn't plan to start selling BLT until Oct. 1, but the Travel Channel show called and pushed up the timetable. Our guide said to give them a week or so and they'll have much more concrete, consistent info.

That being said, here's the info she gave us:

Dues will begin 9/09 at $3.67/pt

Views break down as 20% MK, 69% Bay Lake and 11% Standard

Pool is for DVC members only; regular CR guests cannot use it

The models/virtual tour rooms are smaller than the actual villas will be due to space constraints at the preview center.

Villa sizes:

Studio - 339 sq. feet
1-bdrm - 803 sq. feet
2-bdrm - 1152 sq. feet
GV - 2044 sq. feet

1BR - OKW, BWV, AKV-KV are larger
2BR - OKW, BWV, AKV-KV are larger
GV - smallest of all

Yes, other than GV's, the official site shows that all rooms will either be 2BR lock-offs or dedicated 2BRs (no dedicated studios or 1BRs), and undoubtedly the large majority will be 2BR lock-offs

Hmmmmmmm..... Where did your chart come from? According to Allearsnet.com, the BWV sizes are: Studio - 359, 1BR - 712, 2BR - 1071, GV - 2142.

Due to the curve of the building, I think that rooms on the outside, MK side will be bigger than those on the inner, lake side. The member site does state "Actual room size will vary slightly depending on room location". I'm guessing they are quoting the smallest room size, rather than giving a range.

You're welcome! I figure we can use all the info we can get. Although I'm afraid I may have just muddied the waters further if the room sizes are indeed not adding up ....

I am at WDW right now and was given the same room sizes for BLT. Usually there will be a disclaimer giving villa sizes as "Average Square Footage" - as there is a little discrepancy between villas at many of the resorts. In addition, there is also a little difference between a lock-off and dedicated in terms of the square footage. BWV should be exactly the same as a Studio/1BR combination since there are no dedicated 2BRs, but the other resorts may indicate the differences in the reported villa sizes. I wouldn't worry about a few square feet though.

I've tracked villas sizes for about 10 years now from several published sources - mostly from DVC and other Disney documents but sometimes even by measuring villas myself. Here are some reported room sizes for DVC resorts (YMMV):

1 BR: 1005 sq. ft.
2 BR: 1410 sq. ft.

You are correct, sir! My BWV numbers were erroneous - I went back to the site I retrieved them from and they have been changed to the numbers Doc shows on his list.

I have updated the table and added HH & VB from Doc's list and added the reported BLT numbers for comparison.

The fact that you are going to have to be doing a bit of waiting around for elevators to get up to your small room is a real minus for us.
