Ohhh I love this. How much was it if you don't mind me asking. Also did they have a lot of these or was it a kind of a hit or miss thing?

TIA!

It was like, $3.29 or something like that. There were a few of them there when I went. Maybe 5 or so in the case.

Here is the cake we got at Crystal Palace. Our travel agent ordered directly from Crystal Palace not the cake line.

I didn't think they could do Pooh characters so I had asked for a Hunny Pot. The Pooh on top was one of those printed edible(not really, tastes yucky) images. Once we peeled the image off the top the cake was really yummy! It was white cake with just frosting as filling, DH doesn't like creamy or fruit fillings.

The cake was good, but I was disappointed that the waitress didn't bring it out until we were almost ready to leave. Since it was a surprise DH and everyone else had already eaten dessert. So we ended up not even cutting into it at the restaurant. In fact we didn't eat any of it until two days later for breakfast. It was still delicious then, so I'm sure if we had eaten it the day we got it, it would have been even better.

Here's our cake from Maya Grill- again ordered directly from them, not the hotline. It was only an 8 inch cake and chocolate. It did not taste very good.

We had the worst waiter experience of our trip at Maya Grill, and it's to long a story for the cake thread. However once again the cake was brought out very late, and we just took it back to our room. We ate it by the pool the next day.

The mini-castle cakes are only available at GF restaurants, or the be delivered to GF rooms. They do not deliver to other resorts or restaurants.

wow - that's the answer i was looking for!!!

planning to get a mini castle cake for dessert at narcoosees at GF

glad i found this thread!!!

My DS is in love, it's a miniversion of his bday cake we got him at CM when he turned 4. He said he needs to get this and I figure we'll be using it on the majority of his 16 snack credits...we're staying at the BWV, I can see him asking...can we go get a mickey cake everytime we step foot in the resort. He is so excited!!

I went to the Boardwalk bakery while we were there, and I saw a very adorable Mickey head cake! In fact, I bought a miniature version of the cake:

WOW what a great little cake. I wonder if you call them in advance and ask them to have some ready they would be able to make/hold some for you? Does anyone know the best way to get a cake at the Coral Reef? The cake hotline? Is there a delivery fee for one being ordered from there? Should I call the coral reef directly?

If you're planning on doing the scuba diver and personal menus at Coral Reef, ask for Debbie. You can also request a cake through her.

Looks like most are in agreement over the cake pictures only thread. I volunteer to do it, but it will be a work in process for a few days. :thumbsup2

I double checked with GF Private dining on my anniversary cake and noted it on my ressie. I also asked them at the Podium when I checked in...the guy there, the mgr acted a bit nervous and said oh the deliveries have not come from the bakery yet. We checked in at Narcoosees at 5:00 they do not open until 5:30 when we went back he winked and said your cake is here and gave us anniversary buttons and personalized menus too. I am sure everything was under control, but I get nervous, so I was glad that I checked with him as soon as I got there.

I've called and called and each time was told I could not get any custom cake (other than the personalized round) at 1900 Park Fare. Since my boys have holiday bdays and always get jipped we wanted to do an "unbirthday" at 1900 w/ a mad hatter theme. (a fun cake)

Today I was transferred to Linda Scroda (sp?0 who said almost immediately, "yes, we have a lopsided, mad hatter cake" I was so happy. of course when I heard $125 my jaw dropped, but Iwas still happy to hear a yes, we can do it. :rotfl:

When she described it, it does sound like a very neat looking cake and if I divide the cost between the 3 boys it is $42 so it is the same price as the $40 bday cake dd is having at LTT. DH says I'll find a way to rationalize all the costs in my head ;)

I've seen pictures of the Mad Hatter cake and it really is an incredible looking cake - very fun. Hopefully someone that has had it can post some pictures.

I love the way you rationalize the price!!! :thumbsup2

Subscribing!!

:flower3: Thank you all so much for this wonderful info and the pics!:flower3:

In July we have my three yo son's bday and my husband's. Phew--a lot to get done! I am a bit overwhelmed with all of this, what to do, and how to do it.
I do not want to spend a whole lot of money for cakes. But want it to be special. Any suggestions?

We are at CRT for Carter's bday.
We are still deciding for a place at Epcot for husband's.

Any help is greatly appreciated!:grouphug:

I had a 2 layer Mad Hatter cake for my Mad Hatter Tea - it was part of my wedding festivities...

Brings back memories of a fun day...I have seen these and you would be getting the top layer, I believe.

As promised, pictures of DD's cake from the Grand Floridian Cafe last week:

When I called, I ordered a 10" because that was the smallest I could get customized. I got yellow cake, white buttercream frosting, and fresh strawberries in custard between the layers. I didn't make any requests about decorations other than the "Happy 6th Birthday" inscription and a note that purple is one of her favorite colors (pink is another, but I knew she'd be wearing pink, so I wanted purple for the sake of the pics :rotfl: ) It was absolutely amazing, quite possibly the best cake I've ever had! The pics really don't do it justice. The strawberry & custard filling was absolutely perfect, not too sweet and very fresh - well worth having to order the bigger cake. The cake cost $40 plus tax and gratuity, for a grand total of $49.80.

Has anyone had this kind of strawberry and cream or raspberry and cream filling in a chocolate cake? Could you get something like this from the BWB or MK Bakery?

Thanks!!

Stephanie
