Official Birthday/Anniversary Cake thread Part II

I have seen pics of cakes throughout first thread of various princesses on top of what looks like 8" cakes. They have the sparkly "castle" like backdrop andthey are standing up onthe cake not lying down. I am trying to figure out how much those cakes cost. I can't seem to figure out using the price list at the start of the thread. If anyone can help I would REALLY appreciate it. I told my DH one of the cakes had my daughters name all over it (it was for a Meredith which is my daughters name) except instead of Ariel we need Aurora. She is going to be celebrating her 6th bday at a CRT lunch. Also celebrating DD Nattie's 5th at Epcot princess buffet breakfast...any suggestions for something special for her? I hate to think she is going to have cake for breakfast AND have $75 free spending money..ok $75 minus cost of special mickey ears. OH and if anyone has a suggestions for a very merry UNBIRTHDAY for my other daughter I would REALLY appreciate that. we are trying to stay on budget but I feel bad not doing something for her as well...and after all it is her unbirthday!!!

A suggestion for your third daughter's unbirthday treat is the slipper at CRT. As regularly posted these are quite beautiful. We did one for my DD last year on our holiday as her 'extra treat' day. I asked for the words on the plate to read Princess Natasha and I am sure something similar would thrill her. The server brought it and said 'Princess Natasha, I think you have lost your slipper' so sweet. For just $12.50 plus tax a bargain. I can't help you with the other requests as we only had cake at Akershus and it was $35 with screen print of all the princesses. Very creamy and nice but I am with you I couldn't bare to see cake served at breakfast as my DD wouldn't eat anything else!

we got back 2 weeks ago and I surprised my DH with the anniversary topper. We got married in Disney last year and he has talked about the flavor of our cake several times. When we planned our trip I knew that I wanted to get a cake as a surprise. We were planning on eating at 1900 Park Fare which was where we ate on our wedding day so I knew that would be perfect. Linda was a great help through email contact. I was so nervous about the surprise I was making myself sick and didn't feel like eating! When we went to check in they said "oh and you have a cake?" I had kept this a surprise for over 4 months and my DH was standing right next to me! Thank goodness it was kind of loud so he didn't hear it. when our buzzer rang for our table they handed my DH the receipt for our table reservation and the bill for the cake was stapled to it and the top of the receipt said "CAKE ORDER". so I quickly grabbed it like I was so excited to get in there I wanted to be in charge of the receipt thing! I let the hostess that seated us know that it was a surprise and I was a little bummed that it said that at the top of the receipt. She ripped off the bill portion and led us to our table. I tried to keep the receipt hidden under my purse until the server showed up and then handed it right to him. He was really nice and come to find out, from where we live! He brought the cake out when he noticed that we were finished with our food and said Happy Anniversary. My DH was extremely surprised and loved the cake. It was just as good as our wedding day! yum!!!!

Ok I know I'm behind this time but I'm going to order a mini castle cake at CRT on 12/14 as a birthday treat to myself. Do they have another small dessert that I could order for my boys or should I really not worry about it? I know DS2 won't care (and we're celebrating his birthday since it was a couple weeks ago). I can totally see DS4 being upset because he didn't get anything-not how I want to start a morning off at Disney!

I'm also thinking I might order just a general "Merry Christmas" family cake or "happy birthday to Mommy and Carter" cake at one of our meals during the week as well. We're eating at TH, Sci Fi, Princess breakfast in EPCOT (I'm leaning towards this one since I loved the cake from the Coral Reef on our last trip!!!) and one other place that I can't remember at the moment. I'll be sure to post lots of pictures when we get back!

I don't think you can get the mini castle cake at CRT. You can get the chocolate slipper though.

I am having a very intimate (four people total) wedding with me, my DF, and two sons, and are going to 1900 Park Fair for breakfast afterwards. I'd like to have a small celebratory cake, but not the "cookie cutter" cake you can order at the podium. Something just small enought for us to celebrate before we hit the parks, without having leftovers to contend with. I thought a mini-castle cake would be perfect for this. Anyone have any pics of how they decorated the plate around one?

Looks like they merged your thread with the cake thread. I believe all of the pictures are at the beginning of the thread with the basic information. I would also call 1900 PF or your wedding coordinator to see what they can do for you - especially if you're looking for something unique to your family and celebration! Congrats!

This was the cake I got in August. It's very tiny. Think large cupcake. There were 3 of us and we each got a bite.

The castle cake is adorable but just like the last poster said, its more like a few bites rather than a whole dessert for a person.

For one it would be more than enough. Even two is fine as my husband and I shared one while we were there staying at GF in Sept for our anniversary.

For three or more it may be stretching it

I believe you can get a larger cake and just request the white castle topper for the top of the cake. It will cost more but your paying $25 for the little one anyway so you will get more for your money by going larger.

Do you mind me asking how much your cake was? I was married at WDW also and have wanted a repeat of our wedding cake (smaller version).

I'm not the OP, but I can tell you that Disney Fairy Tale Wedding cake replicas (1 tier) usually run $50-$80, depending on how complex the designs are.

I got a quote of $55 to replicate the top layer of our Disney cake (pic below), but then when they found out I wanted the gold fondant "handles" and maybe something on top, the Grand Floridian Bakery doubled my estimate to $110!

I'll post a picture of the outcome after my anniversary in February!

I got a quote of $55 to replicate the top layer of our Disney cake (pic below), but then when they found out I wanted the gold fondant "handles" and maybe something on top, the Grand Floridian Bakery doubled my estimate to $110!

I'll post a picture of the outcome after my anniversary in February!

Yeah, I was afraid of them merging the thread, but thought I'd take the chance! I looked & looked (most of the 100+ pages, with a sloooowwww connection!) and I think I like the Anniversary cake called "Mickey's Delight". It's fondant with gold mickey heads stamped on it. I called today and was quoted $55 for the cake, and $15 if I want a white chocolate "Mickey bridal couple" on top.

Thank you for showing those to me Applechips. I had originally thought I'd like the castle cake, until I read further that they were only 3"! The pictures make it look so much bigger! It'd be perfect if it was just me & Gregg, but both my teenaged sons could inhale it in two bites!

Wow, I had noticed your cake before in your siggy Lurkyloo, but I had never really looked at it up close with the details. It's absolutely beautiful! Love the colors!! Can't wait to see your anniversary cake...hard to believe it's almost been a year, eh?

Not to start another thread, but what kind of small cake can I get for an anniversary this june that will not break the bank? I wanted a nice dinner but we will have the kids and the fancy places are out....any economy ideas for the cake? i was thinking dinner at Le Cellier or Coral Reef (dinning plan) Oh, we are staying at Saratoga if that helps.

Supposedly, the Minnie is supposed to look just like the Minnie on the white chocolate Mickey and Minnie but they paint the Minnie with something edible(I forgot what it is) and they offered to paint Minnie w/ her red and white dress. It sounds awesome, I just hadn't seen it before and was wondering if anyone else had. Our DD's birthday is July 6th, so I will post a picture of it when I get back. About the charge, I didn't ask how much it would cost so I have no idea. I think subconsciously I didn't want to know! I guess I will find out in a week!

You can order a 6-inch cake for $21 to be served at Le Cellier or Coral Reef. If I were you, I'd order it ahead of time by calling the Cake Hotline on the first page of this thread and following the prompts. Don't do the one they give you if you just ask when you get to the podium.

Here's what someone got recently at Coral Reef by phoning ahead:

Hey guys I just got a quote for the 8 inch Anniversary cake with the White Chocolate Mickey/Minnie cake topper and they quoted me only $47????
I emailed her the picture and confirmed it with her and she said only $47!
This is from the Grand Floridian Bakery. Does this sound really off to anyone else. I saw that someone paid $70 for it.

Sounds like it'll be a standard cake with buttercream frosting at that price - not that there's anything wrong with that! The $70 is for a cake covered in fondant.
