*OFFICIAL* BCV incentives

Yet another question:

If you pay for your contract in full (we've been saving since the announcement of the BCV), when is payment due? Immediately? Or is it still due in July/August, when payments start in you finance? Also, how much of a downpayment is needed?

Thanks!

There are so many questions, I'll try to answer what I know. First off the incentive is for a limited time only- they want to see what demand is and as some have speculated it may be good until June when the price goes up to $80/point. The incentive is for 100 point purchase :$5 off per point period, no giving back first years points Or a 3 night stay with holiday blackouts. For 150 it is a 5 night stay or $5 off /point. The value of the stay if you compare it to discounted rates for the poly, Y&BC, BI is worth about $200/night(inc tax). So you can save $750 on 150 point contract or $1000 worth of hotel rooms (if you stay at the poly, Y & BC or BI). For new buyers the use year will be February. As mentionned you can make reservations before your contract closes in June. Reservations can be made starting March 6, however the BCV will not be available until Aug. I don't know if you can use your points at another resort before August, but I know you can advance (term used by guide) your points if you have a later use year such as we do for Dec. So I could advance points and stay at BCV starting in August. What I didn't ask is when you could start using those points at another resort. As far as I know this has replaced all other incentives so with VB you get $10 off per point and keep all the points (and I imagine you get previous years points since this resort is already open). I agree with PamOKW this is the payback for not being able to use points until Aug. After that who knows. You do not pay dues until your use year so you are getting a jump on paying for your contract without the additonal expense of dues and before a price increase. So theoretically you are saving $10/point if the dues go up to $80 in June, possibly making it worthwhile to buy in advance- I'm sure there are lots of ways to look at it. Since we want holiday ressies it makes sense for us to get in early so we can make them on March 6. Maybe that won't be a issue- we'll find out soon enough!

For a 3-5 year finance, 20% down, for a 1 year- 50% for cash I'm not sure. I know we have to pay the full 50% down in 2 weeks which doesn't male a lot of sense- you'd think we could just put a deposit and then the rest at closing- I will double check this on Tues.

advance (term used by guide) your points if you have a later use year such as we do for Dec.

Kem330 thanks for your patience in sharing what you know. I'm trying to understand the December Use Year example. You are purchasing BCV as an add-on with the December Use Year. You will be getting December 2002 points this December as your first allotment but they are going to permit you to use them between August and December if necessary for a trip. You will only be paying 2002 dues for the month of December. Does that sound right?

I'm also trying to understand the advance points too. As I was telling it to my husband, I started thinking that it's no different than borrowing your points, I guess, unless you had to cancel your reservations then you'd be able to use those points before Dec. 2003 instead of by Dec. 2002.

Grotto, Our guide said you come up with the $ for the down payment within 2 weeks and then you can pay off the loan that you take out with Disney before June 1st, and you will not be charged any interest on the Disney loan since it doesn't accrue interest until June. No prepayment penalty. Does that make sense? Anyone else get info on this?

Disneydawn, What I am saying is that if you bought today and get Feb points, you are getting 2002 points "before" the resort has opened. You can't use them till aug though. If I bought today, I would get 2002 points "after" the resort has opened since my use year is Dec. If BCV sells out by the end of the year (doubtful) then how does Disney plan to have enough rooms for all these points to be used when they gave months of points away before the resort has opened and reservations could be made to use up these points? To me, I see 6 months of points that are being given away before they could be used. I call these extra points. In theory, Disney has the potential of selling a full year of points and only have a a half a year to book them with. Does anybody else see this? Or am I seeing it wrong?......spruce

spruce - Remember that this is a new resort and all of the unsold points are in the developer's inventory until they are moved (or "declared") into the member's inventory. I'm sure Disney will declare enough inventory into the condominium to more than cover the points that are sold. Probably they'll "overdeclare" to make sure, and I think they can declare more whenever they see a need. The only way I see a problem is if the entire resort sells out before the end of the year and I think the chances of that happening are so small that it isn't worth worrying about.

I'm not planning to finance through Disney. can I still get $5 a point off? Also, I'll be buying in April. If you buy in April do you get an April use year, or would it still be February?

I'm not sure if this was posted already, but, the point charts are up on the DVC site. And as speculated here, they are the same as VWL or BWV preferredview! Once again the DIS is on the ball!:bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

Nala the incentives are good if you're paying cash as well but I was told they are for a limited time so who knows. I think they will lways have some kind of incentive. Usually they will sell a use year 3-4 months ahead of your purchase date so I would think in April they will still be selling Feb- unless they have a run on points (highly unlikely) and move to the next month. I was really surprised they didn't start with an April or May use year since the resort doesn't open until August. With VWL you couldn't even close until after the resort was open 2 months.

I have an Dec use year. I just did an add on at BWV and used magical beginings got $10 off per points and I will get points this Dec. If I buy an add on at BCV I can only get $5 off and still won't get points till Dec and will be paying Disney in July? This doesn't sound like much of an incentive... Or am I missing something???

I think this is an excellent incentive, I'm very pleased. This is more than I expected, to be able to get $5 off and not have to sell back any points, this is much better than magical beginnings.

Thank you DVC, this is excellent. I'll be adding on at the Beach club and I'll see you new fellow owners at Storm Along Bay......

disneydawn6,
I think that's where the extra nights stay comes in. Everyone has different use years, mine is in March so the $5 is great. If yours is in Dec. and the $5 off isn't a great incentive for you, you can choose the extra days stay for your incentive option.

Did they eliminate Magical Beginnings for those interested in purchasing VWL? If not, wouldn't this make VWL cheaper than BCV? Assuming they are still selling VWL Sept use years with 2001 points that you'd be giving up for the $10 per point (leaving you with 2002 points like you'd have with BCV).

Denise,
Based on past sales, I think that you wil need to go to Disney to purchase BCV. It seems to take N.Y. a long time to approve the sale IN N.Y. state. I will be there presidents week. I plan on talking to my guide because I am going to sell my OKW points and purchase BCV, so I will have more info then.

A February use year would not be good for me because my usual vacation is in December; should an emergency cancellation be necessary it would probably be too late to bank points, so they'd be lost. I assume Disney won't work around this.

Disneykidds...My understanding is that there is no Magical Beginnings now. VWL still has some points available for purchase. MB has been replaced with this new incentive program.

Nala, if you are purchasing a new contract at BCV, DVC can give you another use year. You just won't get any points until that time.

If you're adding on at BCV, they will give you your original use year.

Haven't been following this whole thread but checked out the first few and doc's last one.

We called this past saturday (2/2) to inquire about MB for a 50 point add-on at VWL. Our guide who had come in to finish up a few contracts called us 5 minutes before closing. Saturday was the LAST day for add-ons at VWL! Only new contracts are being accepted there!!!!!!!! Needless to say, we gulped hard a few times and have decided to go with a 100 point add-on because of the fact that we would no longer have that option 3 minutes later!!

Hope we made the right choice. We weren't ready to buy at that time but felt like we should.

Just wanted to let you know Doc!

Laura
