Official Avengers Half Marathon Weekend 2015 Thread

Signed up for the 10k :yay:, and I honestly can't believe it sold out so fast (pays to hop on right away). What's annoying is that the "official" time for registration to open was 9, but the queue opened up earlier than that (why they can't open up the queue right at 9 am is beyond me :sad2:).

Wow, kids races are now 95% full...but challenge is still at 75%.

Not going to lie - the registration pattern for this one is not at all what I was expecting.

Hope everyone that wanted in is/was able to get in!

Sooo... approx. 35 minutes for the 10k, 1:15 for the kids races.

Stuck at 75% for the Challenge, 50% for the Pasta Party (!), and no update for the Half or 5k. Know it's still early, but I really thought the Challenge would fly off the shelf, and I definitely didn't expect the Pasta Party (!) to move the meter before the Half or 5k.

ETA: The Half has finally made the board at 50% full right after I posted.

I definitely expected the Challenge to sell out in 30-45 minutes. I'm pretty shocked.

Challenge is now at 95%, so if you've somehow been on the sidelines until now, it's time to hurry for that one!

Also, the ChEAR Squad is at 50% full, just to test the limits of what you thought possible on registration day.

you just cant figure anything out on Disney registrations anymore, Kids Races selling out before the Challenge? I would have never bet on that happening

Wow - I'm surprised that the 1/2 isn't sold out. Only 50% almost 2 1/2 hours later. It was filled up last year by this time. I wonder if the Infinity Gauntlet challenge is taking most of the registrants for it?

I too am shocked that the challenge is still open (95% full, but still)...like the PP above I expected it to be gone in 45 minutes or less. :confused3

One thing I have learned today - whoever decided to add 10Ks to Disney race weekends is a genius. They are popular!

Yup. It's just long enough to be more exciting than a 5K for beginners, but not as daunting as a half. I know halfs are the popular thing right now with runners, but man - I love the 10K distance.

I love 10Ks. I'm doing the Challenge, but I do the half for the bling, I do the 10K because it's a blast!

I got the black jacket last year and adore it.

But I'm not buying one sight unseen, because there are colours that I would not like.

That said, it is a lovely jacket, and a fantastic souvenir, and it's easier for me to be picky on account of, you know, already having one jacket.

I do hope they're still available at the expo, but if not, it's not the end of my world, so no jacket pre order for me.

I hope they're awesome for you though.

I missed out on the Star Wars jacket and I really liked that design. One thing to note, you can pre-order the jacket and if you don't like the design, you can always return it.

I'm shocked the Challenge hasn't sold out yet, hopefully the mad rush to sign up for these races has died down but I wouldn't bet on this happening for the next race.

This is weird that the challenge is still open at this late time. Do you think people are strapped for cash, runDisneyed out, Disneyland races saturated, or theme is not as popular?

I'm not sure what the reason, but it's just weird to me. I'm so used to these races selling out quickly. Especially since the Challenge is brand new I thought it would be as quick as W&D.

The Gauntlet sell out pace is really odd. I suspect the last slots will go once we hit evening and most people get off work. At most it will last a day or two.

I highly doubt its a problem with the theme. I think it (like Tink in May) might just not have a good weekend timing. This is really close to some really popular fall marathons (NYC, Marine Corps, Las Vegas (same weekend, literally), you could argue Chicago also, heck Wine and Dine is the week before, etc.). Some people maybe making the decision to bypass this for another race. I'm making the turn around off of the Marine Corps Marathon but I do wish this race wasn't so close to so many major fall races. Actually with Tower of Terror done for now it would benefit from a move to maybe Tower's old weekend.

We are signed up for the challenge but honestly I wouldn't have signed up if it wasn't for my husband - it's just that I drag him to Tink and Princess and W&D so...it'd be weird not to go for the one that's more his speed ;)

As for why it's not selling out as fast as Wine and Dine. Well that's a simple question to answer. Wine and Dine is the only standing night time race of the runDisney races currently. And it's one of the smaller races that runDisney puts it on. Put the two together and the fact the weekend only has two races you had a guaranteed record pace sell out for the weekend.

What's going to be curious is to see how fast Star Wars goes in June.

How fast did it sell out last year? I'm planning on the Rebel Challenge, too, and then W&D next year.

If memory serves me correct all the races were gone in under an hour. I think Rebel went in a half hour. But I didn't participate in that registration (didn't do Star Wars last year, and now that I'm apparently deciding to go Dopey definitely won't be doing it this coming year) so I'm not 100 percent sure.
