** Official August 2024 Thread **

Slinky is so fun! I would prioritize that one with your multipass, because it will go fast. You can rooe drop Mickey and Minnie’s and once done there also more than likely get to Smugglers and do that before crowds build. I usually buy the individual pass for Rise - it’s unreliable at rope drop and can be down which can throw any good plan out the window.

I think Scrooge and Launchpad are on floatillas but am not certain if they have traditional meet and greets.

For Animal Kingdom- if you rope drop FoP then go to Navi next, I don’t think you would need to purchase the multi pass. Everyone is going to be going the same direction but the line moves quickly in the morning.

I would definitely prioritize buying for MK and HS- it will be very helpful. For me, if I am on the fence and budget allows, I would err on the side of purchasing to make life easier. It’s exactly how I ended up with AK this time. Knowing we only had one day at AK we decided to go for it so we can get everything we want to done.
Thanks, great idea! So Rise is down a lot and its not reliable to rush there at rope drop? Going to Mickey and Minnie and then Smuggler's is realistic to do without huge lines?

That is a bummer about Scrooge and Launchpad! They used to meet in Dino Land!

AK- Thanks, I remember FoP, River Journey and Safari usually all have big lines. We won't do the Yeti ride since the girls don't like those kind of coasters. I guess we could do both Avatar rides and then head right to the Safari ride. If we don't get there by rope drop, I am assuming it'll be much harder to get it all done right?

Thanks for MK and HS tip, I almost want to just buy for all 4 for those same reasons but if I don't need to then I won't. Is Soarin still a long line ride?

Check in day is tomorrow! We made it to WV for this morning’s college drop off. Once our daughter is settled, we will drive to Savannah and stay overnight.

Yes, from my experience, doing Mickey and Minnie and then Smuggler is doable. And from my experience, yes, Rise can be finicky in the morning so we decided to stop trying to rope drop it.

Correct - there are still lines when rope dropping Pandora, but it will be more manageable. We usually do Navi because everyone is going to FoP, and Navi has been a total walk on. We have done FoP first before and waited 20 minutes and did Navi right after and the line was still short. By the time we got to the Safari that line was longer than I expected but we waited to ride until later in the afternoon. It had just rained so the animals were out and active so it was fun.

Wait times ebb and flow - you can usually catch it at around 20 minutes.

MK: Tier 1s: Tiana’s, Big Thunder or Peter Pan if traveling with kids. Tier 2s : Haunted Mansion, Pirates or Winnie the Pooh (all tend to run out of availability so if important to ride I recommend booking these ). When rope dropping here - I tend to go to Peter Pan then scoot over and wait for frontier land to open and do big thunder.
How do the tiers work at MK? I've been searching for info about them. I want to buy MLL for MK only.

You pick 1 tier 1 and 2 tier 2's. Tier 1 is Tiana's, space, big thunder, peter pan and jungle cruise. The rest are Tier 2 except Mine train and Tron are pay per ride separately.

That's exactly what I needed to hear. :) I had hoped to get Jungle Cruise and Peter Pan with the first three picks. Can I book a tier 1 after I have used my first tier 1?

you can book another tier 1 right after you use your first one regardless if it's a tier 1 or 2. So it's recommended to book an early tier 2 so you can grab a 2nd tier 1.

Once you scan in for your first ride, the tiers no longer matter and you can grab a tier 1, if available, each time you go to book a new one. That includes another park if you have hoppers.

We have completed college drop off and have started the drive to Disney. This mom has cried the first hour of the drive and am looking forward to checking in tomorrow to AKL and having a large glass of wine !

Great thank you for this info!!

We have arrived at AKL ! We checked in at 2:30 and our room was ready. We booked a standard view and we have a partial Savannah view.

We have unpacked and are wandering the resort until we head over to Coronado for dinner at Toledos.

I almost forgot that today was our Genie+ day. I bought the Multipass and was surprised to be able get Tiana. At least that is one less worry. I want to be able to get a few MPLL rides for the evening but I need to use the morning ones first. I discovered that you can change them around after you make the purchase. :)

We'll see if it is worth it. I know that we can walk on most rides if we get there for early opening rope drop. The plan is to spend the morning, have a nice lunch at the Plaza, and then go back to POR for a relaxing afternoon at the pool, or nap, or both. We'll go back to MK after dinner. We are buying MPLL for MK, only.

Room update -we were upgraded to a Savanna view. I noticed in the app under our hotel reservation it says savanna view for room type. It’s amazing— we have seen so many animals !

We have had a busy couple of days.

Saturday we did the DVC tour and received a 200 gift card. We did the tour at 10:30 and were done around 11:15. After that, we made our way over to the Poly and got our name on the list for trader Sam’s. We got there around 1, the line was probably 30 people deep. They started taking names at 1:40 and we were told we would be seated when they opened. We wandered the Poly for a bit until it was time to be seated. We were seated with another family who were so fun-a we had a really nice conversation and then when wr were done, we left and headed over to the Grand. We grabbed drinks and appetizers at the Enchanted Rose— everything was fantastic. From there we did Steakhouse 71 Lounge and then ended the night at Tambu Lounge and some bread pudding and Ohana wings.

Sunday we went to Animal Kingdom. We did early entry and walked on to Navi, then grabbed some breakfast and walked to the safari. We had an amazing safari- the lion was so active and so many animals were walking around near the vehicle so we had to keep stopping. We used the multi pass because we were going to be hopping to MK, and started with Safari, Kali and Everest. Once we scanned in to the safari, I grabbed a haunted mansion multi pass for the evening. We then rode Kali and got absolutely soaked, and Everest. We pulled additional multipasses for Dinosaur, Festival of the Lion King and Feathered Friends in Flight As we used multi passes we would pull new ones rotating between AK and MK. By the time we left Animal Kingdom, we had Pirates, HM and Big Thunder lined up, plus we had a single pass for Tron. Tiana’s popped up w couple of times, never at a time we could use, so I never bothered to grab it

After a rest at the resort, we went over for dinner at Tony’s town square. It was fine - we wanted to check it out since we heard the new menu items were really good. I don’t think I would rush back.

I was surprised by how empty the cars for Tron were - our single pass was from 8:45pm - 9:45pm and whole cars were running with just 1-2 people in it.

Today we started our day at Hollywood Studios. We didn’t want to rush for early entry and got there right around 8:15. We went to RnR- it had a posted wait time of 25 minutes but we were through the queue and on the ride in 14 minutes. From there we did Mickey and Minnie, Tower and Toy Story Mania. We pulled an additional multi pass for Smugglers Run and then when we were able to grab another one, we were able to get a Remis for 6pm.

Same day availability is Hit or miss. I’m pretty sure I was able to grab Remi’s because I had a time when they dropped more same-day availability. Tier twos are available but the return times can either be very early or very late finding additional tier ones is not easy. It’s doable but you have to grab it fast. I don’t think I’ve been on my phone more on this trip than in previous but I’m also not trying to modify our times or rides all that much.

Tonight we are going to deluxe evening hours at Epcot.

View from our room with the baby zebra! Plus the giraffe and lion on safari.

OMMMMGGGGG AMAZING!!!!

This sounds like an absolutely amazing trip!! Your safari at AK!!!!!

What savanna are you facing?! How did the upgrade come about?!

Please come back and tell us about evening hours. I’m living vicariously but also it’s helping my count down go by smoothly.

Hello August gang! We had a great trip!

I wanted to share with you that the wait times were consistently overinflated all day long, at all of the parks.
Examples:
Around 12:15 TOT standby was noted as 40 minutes. We used our LLMP but noted that the there was no standby line at all - -walk up all the way to the lobby. We rode again, standby this time, and it was still listed as 40 minutes and we did walk straight through to the the lobby. (Side note: immediately after this I went to the restroom that is halfway up the street, not the one outside TOT, and the line was so long I walked over to the one by the Frozen show instead)
9:45AM TSM standby by listed as 40minutes, actual wait 20
8:00pm Rise listed as 50 minutes, actual wait 25 minutes
Big thunder seemed to always list 40 minutes, I never waited more than 20.
Soarin' listed at 40, actual 15

It's nice to not have to wait more time than expected, but the times were so overstated, that it was hard to make plans sometimes. I'd look at a 40 minute standby line sign and think, is it really 40? If it is 40, I don't have time for this, or the inclination to wait that long, but if that 40 minutes really means 20 then I'm good to go on it now.

I also wanted to share that I do not think that the new LLMP system is causing the standby lines to be longer. In fact, I noticed that I was rarely standing still in a standby line.

Thank you for the detailed report. We will be at WDW in two days and your update is great to hear. I bought MPLL for one day only. I feel confident that we will be able to do everything we want at the other three parks without paying the extra costs for LL. :)
