*******Official August 2017 Countdown Thread ~ Feeling hot, hot, hot!!!******

I am impressed you repair it yourself. :-)
You should see the photos from when I fixed his phone. Got the kid a Galxy S7, and he completely destroyed it. Screen, digitizer, battery, back cover. Even the metal tray that the battery sits in was damaged. I managed to get all of the parts, straighten out the tray, and put the whole phone back together. That was about a year ago, and it's still going strong!

With one big weekend my daughter's travel softball season is finally over. Hoping that I will now have a bit of extra time to focus on our upcoming vacation. I feel so overwhelmed with all that needs to get done in the next few weeks.

We did get our magic bands on Friday. It is not a surprise trip for my kids so I made the mistake of letting them open the box... by the time I was able to take a look they had ripped all the magic bands out of the box and off their holders. So I didn't get that obsessively OCD pic (even in my head!)

This weeks plan is packing lists!

For those who will be in the World on August 21 (and I know this has been posted previously, but thought as we are getting closer, a reminder would be nice) there will be a solar eclipse that day. In Disney, we should experience about an 80% eclipse, which should make it fairly dim out. The eclipse should begin at about 1:19, reach it's peak (the darkest part of the eclipse) at about 2:51, and end at about 4:14. That should be pretty cool for those who are in the parks that day.

Also, for those who will be in the World on August 11th, 12th, and / or 13th, there will be a meteor shower happening. It should be visible all three nights, with some meteors possibly being bright enough to see during daylight hours. The shower should peak on the 12th, and it should be a fairly intense shower, with plenty of meteors, so that could make for some interesting photos at dusk / dark.

Aside from that . . well, carry on, and get excited, August is nearly here! My family has just 8 days left until we leave NY on our journey to Disney!

We will be there and plan to be on our midday break at that time. So, we'll either enjoy poolside or it will be storming and we'll be inside! Sorta funny that we will be going to SciFi for dinner right after that!

!

same here. this past weekend was ODS' bday and that's all I could focus on for the past couple weeks. I can only focus on one major thing at a time, lol.

DH and i check in tomorrow night for our anniversary trip and our first trip without kids! I am so excited! It has been a long few months and we really need time to walk away from our lives and focus on us! Plus tomorrow is pay day and you can't be sad on pay day! :rainbow:

I absolutely LOVED our kid-free trips. Maybe even more than the family trips. :ssst:

6 days to check into CSR-5 until we leave! ARRGG I am NOT ready! I did get a couple suitcases out though :rotfl:As usual will be packing night before we leave. DD car is in shop today for tune up/oil change to get it ready for the trek.
We live in MO and will probably go to friends for the full eclipse (couple hour drive to experience full).
Now that august trip is set about to start focus for October girls trip-and no Sanaa available for when I want it (yet).

That will be neat. Will be there 8/21 (also my birthday, so def pretty cool :))

same with us. we will be getting back to POR right around when it starts (1:00ish) and will be hanging by the pool for a couple hours (or inside if its storming). Then we will head back to EP right when it's ending (4:00ish)

I think Sci-Fi after that is just about the perfect place to be eating . . . of course, I happen to really like Sci-Fi anyway! Hope you have an awesome trip, and good weather to enjoy the eclipse!

I DID forget that, thank you so much for the reminder. I do, however, have it in my itinerary, so I would have known it that morning :) We will be in EPCOT that day, so hoping to perhaps see some uncommon character meet and greets.

Awesome, hope you have a great view. We will be in MK that day.

I love POR, such a beautiful resort. The quiet pools around alligator bayou are amazing, and the boat ride to Disney Springs is so relaxing. That is the thing I miss the most about staying onsite!

Wow, I didn’t know about the eclipse. The 21st is our last park day (unless our schedule changes and we hit one for a few hours the morning we leave, which we usually don’t do) so we’ll likely be in MK or taking a break at the resort.

I knew about the eclipse (we'll be back home for that) but did not know about the meteor shower. We will be at WDW for that! So thanks.
