I wonder why august is so much more? We are flying Labor Day weekend too! $330 is the most I ever paid to fly to MCO I think it's ridiculous but we don't have the time to drive. We are going 8/23-8/31 I booked my flights the day southwest opened up on 3/3 I woke up at 6am to book thought it was $$ so waited a bit by 9am I had to book because prices were going up and flights were selling out! So I got stuck with $330 RT. So when flights opened up for December on 5/19 I got up at 6am and booked immediately $288 RT for flights 12/2-12/7. Oh how I miss the day of $69 each way

I'm in the same boat with the high flights. I think that's why I haven't been able to get into planning my days/meals, b/c flights aren't booked yet so I don't feel like it's really happening.

I always book 2 one-way flights, never a round trip flight, to ensure I get the lowest price each way. My goal is always as close to $100 as possible each way (never, ever get $100, just me dreaming I guess, lol). So I just bit the bullet yesterday and booked our flights down for $136 each. Not so bad. But the flights back have been stuck at $200+. I just can't bring myself to pay that much. Yet. That would be $340+ round trip each. I guess if in a month it hasn't gone down at all, I will have to make a decision on how much i"m willing to pay. I don't know why I'm always so ridiculous when it comes to flights. Really, what's an extra $100 for flights when we'll be spending over $2,000 overall (since it's just a short trip with DH and I. Trips with the kids are more like $5,000 overall but even still I'm a stickler with the price of flights. I think it's just the principle, lol.)

I was able to snag us rt out of Logan first thing and back last thing for 304 each, probably back in February. We are flying delta and will have to pay to check a bag, but for the price and times were getting in and out, I'm happy!

there's a flight into MHT for $160/pp. but then we'd need someone to pick us up, which is absurd. Am I really going to make someone drive an hour+ to NH to pick us up so we can save $80? lol :confused3

When we weren't able to get Concierge Level at AKL, I decided to play with the DVC website and see if I could get a room at CL further out. I was able to get a CL studio room in early February 2015, so DH and I are going to take a long weekend, without the kids and enjoy being spoiled by the concierge perks! :cool1:

ETA: I just checked the SW website and the flight calendar only goes out to January 4th as of now, so I'll need to find out when they extend the dates into mid-February.

Just bit the bullet and booked.
I searched with just 1 person in the search parameters and found $189 each way at perfect times. 3 seats left. So I grabbed them for my 2 kids and I and then I went back in and booked my husband at $219 each way.

The $189 fare didn't show up at all when I searched for 4 people. Just a tip, there may be sales you can't see, so try just searching for 1 person first. We saved $180 by booking the 3 tickets and then the 4th separately.

In March we managed to get the same flight times (first out, last in) roundtrip for about the same price back in March out of Boston too. Glad we got those them when we did.

Yep absolutely I had to do the same thing booked separately to get the cheaper airfare but it was still $330 RT! When I booked for December I booked for all 4 of us at $288 RT nothin cheaper it def pays to play around with it

I'm with your husband! LOL I have NEVER paid over $225. I fly our of Newark, usually, sometimes JFK, would also be fine with LaGuardia and Westchester, but they're all crazy.
I'm going to have to bite the bullet and just buy my tickets.

Ha ha that's how he felt about the $278, he had no choice so he just did it! I used to fly out of Newark (went to college in NJ) and we do always check there, but prices are usually comparable to JFK/LG and for some reason DH prefers going out of the city if Westchester and Stewart are too high.

I saw in your other post you got your tickets:thumbsup2 Good tip about searching for 1 person first for better prices!

You are fortunate to have so many options close by!

Our nearest airport is Toronto, at 2+ hours from home. Ottawa is 3 hours.

The next closest options for us are those in Western NY. Syracuse is 3 hours, but a super easy drive and preferable to Ottawa. Buffalo is 4+ hours.

Any airport where the distance form home is measured in "minutes" would be a dream!!! :cloud9:

Gina I just have to say..................... Having lived so close to airports all my life, I've just never given a thought to those that may live so far from one........I promise to never complain on the Dis again about airfare, not being able to fly from the airport of my choice, or not getting the flight times I prefer out of respect for my fellow Dis peeps who have to travel just to travel! :flower3:

For us Ottawa is 2+ from us and Toronto is 5+ and the USA is further but so much cheaper and from Ottawa I found the flights not very nice for length of us to get to Orlando. So we decided to fly out of Buffalo this trip which is about 7 hours but make it also a time to visit family and friends on the way down or up depending on what there are doing and for nice breaks as we will leave a day before flying. Next trip we will proably look at Ablany or Rochester or Syracuse for flights.

If I lived as close to so many awesome airports as you do, I might never stay home :rotfl: . I am envious of your options!!! There are definitely some benefits to big-city living ::yes:: .

Buffalo is a nice little airport. I wouldn't want to make the trip from Deep River to Buffalo in the winter, but it should be a nice drive in the summertime (glad you can do some visiting along the way :thumbsup2 ... that will help break up the journey!). You will find it much easier than flying out of a Canadian airport. Clearing customs at the border is so nice :) .

We love the Syracuse airport. So tiny and much, MUCH more peaceful than flying out of Toronto. The chaos at Pearson is mind boggling sometimes.

Our airport is about 10 minutes away, the last 2 trips we found good pricing with united. Before that we drove 7 hours to the great falls Montana airport to get better prices, we found though that after the trip home on the plane the last thing we wanted to do was drive another 7 hours and stayed in a hotel in great falls... Kinda wrecked the savings over all and we decided not to try that again.

We've relegated ourselves to the fact we'll have to pay more for convenience of sleeping in our own bed before leaving on vacation lol.

Our closest airport is about 45 min away (Akron/Canton), then we are about 1.5-2 hours away from Cleveland, Columbus, and Pittsburgh. Not super close, but I always check all 4 to get the cheapest fare. PIT won this trip!

That's a nice selection of options within a pretty reasonable drive. Lucky! :thumbsup2

We have about three to four airports near us too and it's wonderful to have that ability to choose; we're definitely spoiled! Logan's definitely the closest, but Bradley, Providence, and Manchester are all basically an hour away and are (sometimes) cheaper. It depends on where we're traveling to

Hey....I'm from the Hudson Valley too!!! I am in Newburgh! We always fly JetBlue out of Stewart. To us, the extra cost is worth it for the convenience with 2 little kids! I am also obsessive and stalk the site and usually book pretty soon after flights are released so i usually get a decent deal! Also, if prices go down, they will give you a credit which I always use towards the next trip! LOL!

Down to 1 week until our mom/son trip for SWW and a 10th birthday celebration:) 11 weeks until our August trip. Time is flying!
