I'm 33 and still go away with my parents every year. Took Disney trips all through my 20s with them too.

The only reason I don't take trips with my parents anymore is because they need me to pet sit (it's too expensive to board the pets and my grandparents can't really drive that far to check on them daily anymore). I would love to go on a trip with them again :)

Sounds relaxing to stay at one resort. Wait.......is that your round about way of saying that you're pregnant too??? :scratchin

Haha this will become the standard DIS way of announcing a pregnancy, "I've switched our stay to AKL!" Congratulations Mousemommy1 :)

I'm flying to Seattle today to visit my best friend and my flight is next to a flight to Orlando. I just spotted the first family definitely going to Disney and I just want to go hug them all! 94 days!

Oh my! No. Not pregnant. Just love AKL and didn't want to have to switch over to POR during our trip. Now that we are flying switching resorts was adding a level of complexity that I didn't want to deal with.

I hear ya. I know many people love to switch resorts mid-vacation, but I just like to plunk myself down at one resort and relax. :goodvibes

It's been brutal trying to find reasonably priced flights for August! Worst in many years. I've booked my home bound flight.. did it in February when things were just starting to climb. I wanted the last flight of the day home, and it's during Labour Day weekend. Our flights were $262 each.. I hated paying that much after doing flights for $308 each round trip in December. The same flight is now $441 each! Hoping upon hope that there will be seat sales from AC & WJ soon! Otherwise I'm looking at $288 or $337 each for our flights down :( Which would make our flights almost the same price as our hotel/park tickets... grrrrrrrrrr!!!
I wonder why august is so much more? We are flying Labor Day weekend too! $330 is the most I ever paid to fly to MCO I think it's ridiculous but we don't have the time to drive. We are going 8/23-8/31 I booked my flights the day southwest opened up on 3/3 I woke up at 6am to book thought it was $$ so waited a bit by 9am I had to book because prices were going up and flights were selling out! So I got stuck with $330 RT. So when flights opened up for December on 5/19 I got up at 6am and booked immediately $288 RT for flights 12/2-12/7. Oh how I miss the day of $69 each way

Congratulations Mousemommy1! When I was pregnant with DS, we were staying at Pop Music, took a tour of the newly built Boardwalk Villas, and bought our DVC membership!

This will be our third end-of-August trip.

All three trips via Jetblue (non-stop) from Syracuse, NY.

2012 we paid $288 pp, round trip.

2013 we paid $335 pp, round trip.

2014 price was $420 pp, round trip.....but the same flights are now $848 return :scared1: . And the plane is still half empty. I can't fathom why they are not dropping their rates in order to fly that plane at capacity, now that we're less than 100 days out. It defies logic.

For the northern states, I think that the end of August has become a very popular time for families to visit Orlando, and the airlines have caught on.

We are in the north and were able to get our flights for $265/round trip each!

That's a great price :thumbsup2 .

We could have secured cheaper flights as well, but we would have had to fly from Buffalo (which is an hour further and far worse traffic-wise, as we have to cross Toronto) and we would have had to fly Southwest (we dislike their open seating policies and their lack of onboard TV's). Jetblue from SYR is our preferred option, and we're willing to pay a little more for our comfort and convenience :) .

We had $400 in Jetblue True Blue points to apply to our total, so we still ended up with very reasonable flights despite the higher rate. It made the flights for DH & I to Orlando absolutely free  . So we really only "paid" for one round-trip and two flights home.

This is the first year that flying out of SYR has not been a substantial savings from Toronto.

Congrats to Mousemommy!!

We are flying SW out of PIT over Labor Day weekend (Friday-Monday) and got direct flights for about $250 each. I will stop complaining after seeing some of the fares listed here.

QOTD: My next trip is in the VERY tentative planning stages. I want to take a Mother/Daughter trip with my DD for her 21st bithday, which is in December of 2015. We'd probably go the following spring or early summer. Crossing my fingers it works our!

I'm so far behind in this thread and there is no hope of me catching up so I'm just going to jump back in from this point.

So excited to be in the double digits now. We confirmed the babysitting arrangements for our kids this week and once that was all settled we paid off the rest of our trip.

93 days to go, all ADR's are made, and we're paid in full so life is feeling pretty good right now. Now to figure out how to avoid wishing our summer away.

We are also in the north and got our tickets for $278 pp round trip, but we have to go out of an airport about 45 min. away rather than the one 15 min. away. We fly JetBlue, and their flights out of the closer airport were almost $500 pp!! It's a fairly small airport, but for some reason they are almost ALWAYS higher than Westchester, JFK and LaGuardia:confused3

Back in Feb. we did snag $245 round trip from the local one but that was just one-time pixie dust lol. I have to show DH all these other fares people have to pay. He refuses to pay over $300 rt and even thinks anything over $225 is ridiculous!

You are fortunate to have so many options close by!

Our nearest airport is Toronto, at 2+ hours from home. Ottawa is 3 hours.

The next closest options for us are those in Western NY. Syracuse is 3 hours, but a super easy drive and preferable to Ottawa. Buffalo is 4+ hours.

Any airport where the distance form home is measured in "minutes" would be a dream!!! :cloud9:

Montreal airport is 5 minutes from our house but when flying to USA we never fly out from PET. Too expensive. We usually fly out of Plattsburgh, NY or Burlington,VT and for our next Speing break travel we'll probably fly out of Manchester, NH or Boston. Yes we'll drive an extra 3h but airfare is so much cheaper!

We had the same issue. I was looking to fly Jet Blue out of Newark, the prices never went down and the flight has tons of seats. My flight down is $289.00 but the return flight was $354!!! Since we never fly I didn't know any of the tricks or anything! I kept waiting for it to go down but it kept going up so I booked. We usually drive and it figures the year we fly the rates are terrible!

I'm with your husband! LOL I have NEVER paid over $225. I fly our of Newark, usually, sometimes JFK, would also be fine with LaGuardia and Westchester, but they're all crazy.
I'm going to have to bite the bullet and just buy my tickets.
