We're both teachers too I was able to grab great airfare and use my personal days to go this may 31st to June 3 to help celebrate my son's 10th birthday. Otherwise, we have the Rash Hashanah weekends in September, Christmas week, spring break, or summer. I am looking forward to the lower crowds that early June will bring. I just wish we could go for an extra day or two.

I really thought our Friday-Monday trips would be way too short, but they were both amazing. We celebrated our son's 10th birthday during our October trip and we were actually in the MK for our daughter's 7th birthday in December!

When I retire in June of 2023, I told my husband we're going to Disney on the first day of school in September 2023, just because I will be able to.

My DH and I are also teachers! We do summer school as well, so there aren't many times when we have a week or more off--and most of those are Disney's BUSY seasons. We love the end of August.

I am a chemist with three kids that keep me chained to the summer months for vacation. I tried during school once and found out from the school office that I should have lied and said it was a death in the family, they do not allow making up work for vacations. We do not lie.

You should just do it! Family and friends thought we were a bit nuts, but honestly, people fly to Vegas all the time for long weekends and nobody bats an eye or questions them right? If a cheap flight comes up I say go for it! For both trips we flew down early Friday morning and returned late Monday night so we were able to pack a lot of fun things into our trip! I was worried we'd feel exhausted, but I actually found it exhilarating instead.

I don't know if I could get away with 2 days off. But I like the Vegas scenario- it definitely is true!!

You are lucky- we aren't supposed to use personal days for vacation.

Another teacher here! We have been bound to summers also but this year I am trying something different (gulp!) We are doing a quick turnaround and going back for a long weekend in Oct (Columbus Day) I am taking 2 days off
for the first time ever so we can experience MNSSHP! I am secretly so excited for this little weekend getaway!

Has anyone not gotten there tickets yet? The prices just went up today.. I bought them through a Mousesavers link from Undercover Tourist. (If you don't know what that is, you subscribe to their newsletter, and then you get a special link to buy discounted tickets.) For some reason I just felt like getting them yesterday...

So the 5 day park hoppers that I got yesterday at $28 off per ticket are now essentially $45 off per ticket due to the increase. UT will keep selling what they have at their old price until they run out of them. If you want more info, PM me.

My boyfriend is a teacher (and I just applied to a cert program to become an art teacher) so we are bound to teacher schedules as well. I would definitely love to go to Disney just for a weekend if we could, but the price of airfare usually stops us. One day we'll make it down for the Christmas season!

I love this idea! DH and I are also teachers. I can retire in 13 years (who's counting ) but hubby has a few more to go. Wonder if he'd mind if I went on the first day of school 2027 . Nope- just couldn't do it to the guy. Still love the idea!

I can't wait to go away in September. It's gonna be amaaaazing! My husband is a teacher too. Im starting to think we won't make it to retirement with how things are going, so maybe it will be sooner than later. I guess it makes sense that a lot of the August travelers would be teachers. Most people wouldn't choose to go at the hottest time of year/hurricane season

This is exactly what we did last Canadian Thanksgiving/Columbus Day weekend. We flew in Friday morning and went to MNSSHP Friday night. It was the best weekend ever!

How lucky we were to have ADR & DH bday land on the exact calendar date I was up at 6 logged in MDE & phone to ear spreading pixiedust on the start of our day. I got all we wanted for now tho lacking HDD due to question of which day then a few more to plan

I love the fact I can change ADR's so easily on my computer or phone even. I'm sort of becoming obsessed by thinking and rethinking our plans. My DH has said to put it aside for at least a month, but it's just too much fun.
