This will be our 6th Orlando trip (the first occurring January 2009, then January, August and December 2012, and the last in August 2013). 2014 marks our third (and probably final) August vacation :) ... since our boy graduates high school in June, we are no longer tied to the school calendar (college schedules are much more flexible with a shorter academic year and reading weeks in both October and February).

So it will be just under one year from the time we went home last summer until the time our feet hit Orlando soil again. So excited! :hyper:

I'm jealous!! I had 4 years of freedom, then it was teaching. I'll be stuck with the school calendar for about 28 more years :)

Good luck with the house. Hope everything goes smoothly for you! pixiedust:

Thank you. So far, so good!

We are really excited! Our house now is very cramped.

Congrats on your new home! :cool1: So happy to hear that the home inspection went well. What is your proposed moving date?

Thank you! We are slated to settle on March 28th. It's very fast!

I updated all the lists last night and think I got everyone, but if I forgot anyone please let me know or if you still want to be added, let me know. Anyone, that posted after 8 last night, I will get to later today. :thumbsup2

Just curious-How long has it been since everyone's last trip? Or is it your first?

(Sorry if this was discussed in earlier posts-I tried to keep up, but got lost for a while when work/life got crazy :)

My last trip was in 2011-my longest "dry spell" ever. I've been reading the Thinking Fan's Guide to WDW, and it occurred to me that it's going to look soooo different. The thought of Dumbo being moved and the other FL changes is starting to make me sad. I don't deal well with change :)

Most recently, we went for Christmas 2013. We tend to go every August and added Christmas when we realized we got free dining. This trip will be about #34 since I am squeezing in a quick boys and Mommy visit in June....darn annual passes!
You're going to love where Dumbo is...with the new FL, it didn't faze me that Dumbo wasn't there.

I was there in December as well. I liked how they opened up the area near Haunted Mansion by the new "Tangled Toilets"

Afternoon everyone. Only you can understand my excitement at getting a breakfast ADR on 8/20 at 8:15a for Cinderella's Castle! :cool1:

I've posted this before but I guess I got lost in the shuffle and I didn't see me on the Trip Date list so here it goes again.

Staying at Pop Century from 8/17 to 8/23.

It will be me, DH and DS13 while my DS16 stays home. Don't feel too bad for him though. He'll be with his Grandmother that spoils him and his own car to get around in. And, he wasn't really that interested in going so it's all worked out.

I looked on the first page for the August FB group but didn't see a link. Could someone point me in the right direction? Thank you! :goodvibes

I'll give this a shot for a third time.

The above info for the Resort/Date post on the first page.

I'm starting to think I stink or something. ;)

I'm excited about tangled toilets, but I'm also a little sad about the skyway remnants being gone, haha :)

That area is really great! Watch for the little touches added around the area. The posters are funny!

Hey guys- so I have been lurking on this thread and thought I would post.... So here goes- my hubbie, and two daughters age 3 and 5 ( will be 6 by the time we are at Disney) are going aug. 20th- 26th. Never went this late, but figured since we have to go in the summer ( hubbie is a teacher) might as well go when the crowds are lower. Staying at beach club villas- rented DVC points for the first time. So far so good! Made ADRs on Friday morning! Everything went great- but there was trouble linking it on MDE. Had to link them one by one. But that is ok- I'll take it! Here are our ADRs. Feel free me to add to list! Aug. 20th. Ohana 5:00 Aug. 21 Tusker house 8:10 Beaches and cream 5:40 Aug 22. Kouzzina 7:30am. (That's gonna be a struggle) :) Via napoli. 5:45 Aug 23. 1900 park fare 6:00 Aug 24. Liberty tree tavern 11:45 Be our guest. 6:50 Aug 25. Quick service all day Aug 26 Quick service all day

Where did you rent points from? I want to stay at BC so badly but still seems too expensive In Summer when I've looked.

Another jealous teacher. Don't think Id trade summers off, but I really really wish I could travel to Disney at an 'off' time of the year that wasn't school calendar inflation/crowd fest.

We were there the end of last August. We like to drive and April vacation is never guaranteed with all of the snow days they tend to take days away. So summer/Christmas are literally the only times we can travel for at least a week.

We were there the first week in December (2013) for a quick Christmas visit.. will be back for a week at the end of August :)

Our last trip was August 2011. Before that our longest break was April 2006 to August 2009, then we were there three years in a row. Although before I met DH I hadn't been since 2000!

I'm also a jealous teacher, just from a different country ;)

Teacher here too. :teacher:

We go every August, but went a little Disney crazy last year. We went last two weeks in August and flew down for a long weekend in October and a long weekend in December.

All of our Disney trips last year were amazing but we will probably only go in August this year. :goodvibes

Our last trip was Aug. 2012 but before that it was every 4 years for us. Sept. 2004, Sept. 2008, Aug. 2012. I'd love to go more often but it's just not in our budget.

My DH keeps asking if I want to do that just us- just loathe the thought of airfare just for a long weekend..... Maybe for our 10 year anniversary in October 2016 lol.

You should just do it! :yay:

Family and friends thought we were a bit nuts, but honestly, people fly to Vegas all the time for long weekends and nobody bats an eye or questions them right? :)

If a cheap flight comes up I say go for it! For both trips we flew down early Friday morning and returned late Monday night so we were able to pack a lot of fun things into our trip! I was worried we'd feel exhausted, but I actually found it exhilarating instead. :)

We're both teachers too:) I was able to grab great airfare and use my personal days to go this may 31st to June 3 to help celebrate my son's 10th birthday. Otherwise, we have the Rash Hashanah weekends in September, Christmas week, spring break, or summer. I am looking forward to the lower crowds that early June will bring. I just wish we could go for an extra day or two.
