Maybe I could start us off, then?

..
QOTD:

Which resort have you selected for your trip, and why did you pick that resort?

We're staying at the Royal Pacific Hotel at Universal for 2 nights--because my friend who goes to Universal all the time and booked it for us said we'd like it best. LOL We check out of there and head over to the Boardwalk Villas

Have you stayed there before and loved it, or will this be something new for you?

RPH will be totally new, never stayed at Universal..and haven't been to Uni in about 17 years. So excited!
BWV-stayed there many times and love it!

Will you add any special requests for your reservation? (ie for a specific location, etc?)

No special requests at RPH.
We booked standard view at the Boardwalk, which overlooks the front of the hotel, so asked for a high floor so we can see the Epcot fireworks from our room.

Love the questions, thanks!

We are staying at the Yacht Club for Stormalong Bay and the proximity to Epcot.

Nope, first time.:cool1:

We booked CL garden view and I am hoping for a peek at the water! I have been researching room views for requests!

1. We picked POFQ because of the size and theme (we love New Orleans) and the sea serpent pool. As soon as my kids saw that they went crazy about it.

2. This is new for me! I've only ever stayed at WL, and that's where I wanted to go for this trip too, but the sea serpent cancelled my vote, lol!

3. I'll probably request top floor, and maybe building 5, but i think we'll be happy with whatever we get there.

Thanks Gina! Fun!

We are staying at Pop for the second August in a row. It worked for us- the kids loved it and we had our own car so no worries about the buses. I asked for 70s building as close to the hippy pool as standard can get. Would love to try something new but can't bring myself to spend more.....house repairs and renovations blah!!

We are from the UK and our free dining is offered early. We are staying at OKW because we love the size of the rooms but also because we get a discount as well as the dining. We stayed here for the first time in 2011 and enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere. As my mum will have a mobility scooter and can't stand being on the ground floor we will be requesting a building with an elevator for her, and then for the rest of us to be nearby.

DH and I are then having two nights at BWI for the actual anniversary part of our trip. When we married at Sea Breeze Point we fell in love with the resort and it will be nice to be near where we were married on the day of our anniversary :)

Finally we are staying at Universal's Portofino Bay for the final portion for a final bit of luxury. Not stayed here before, only at Hard Rock.

We will overlap! I would think the res should state that- don't feel bad asking. Do you have kids? We have DS will be 5 and dd will be 3.

I do! my daughter will be 2. It will be her first trip :)

I guess I'll have to call. Just playing around with MDE for the first time, so I'm figuring it out. I've also never worked with a TA and don't know how much I'm supposed to bug them about stuff!

We're staying in a Lion King Suite at AoA!

Two years ago was my son's first trip (and my first in more than 20 years) and we stayed at CBR with large extended family. Since then, my son has been dying to stay at AoA and is a huge Lion King Fan. When it was just the two of us going, I booked a LM room, which neither of us were delighted with, but we still wanted that resort. Then I convinced my mother and nephew to come along and we upgraded to a suite!

I'm so excited about the room--it looks so huge and the theming is great. But it is pricey. I contacted *** because the board raved about them, and they could get us into a deluxe standard room for a couple hundred less, but we'd be cramped and my mother and I would have to share a bed, so I'm sticking with AoA. I hope it's the right decision.

No special requests, except that it has to be Lion King. Do people ever get bumped to a different suite?

Do they have email? I feel less annoying when I send emails. But seriously- call as much as you want/need. You are spending a fortune to go on this vacation- leave no stone unturned!

We need a new QOTD :) . Anyone want to toss one out?

What is everyone's favorite character meal?

We've only done Chef Mickey and Hollywood & Vine (before Dr. McStuffins And/or Soohia changeover) breakfasts. We much preferred Chef Mickey's - the kids were just in a better mood that day and I love how you can watch the monorail travel through CR. Food seemed better too but I didn't even walk through the buffet at H & V (that is how rotten the behavior was!)

We will definitely do Chef Mickey again and would also like to try Garden Grill because we like Chip and Dale. I wanted CRT too but for budget reasons and lack of appeal for the whole family (DS not interested in princesses) we might have to skip.

We used to love the Cape May breakfast, but they didn't have chocolate croissants last time, so I'm not going back. LOL
No, seriously it used to be our last morning tradition, but the last 2 times it's only been okay, so we've decided to skip it next time.

We don't really do character meals anymore because my kids aren't too into them, and they're pricey now that they're adults(but still eating like kids).

If I had to choose I'd pick the Norway Princess breakfast, if only for those breakfast potatoes. SO GOOD!
Or 1900 Park Fare because the stepsisters are hilarious!

What is everyone's favorite character meal?

We love the Princess breakfast at Akershus because the food is great (and plentiful) and we had great character interaction there. Also had some great interactions at 1900 Park Fayre.

We weren't keen on Chef Mickeys and, while the interaction was good, we had dreadful, rushed service at Ohana breakfast.

This year we will probably be doing H&V so Libbi can meet Doc and Sofia :). We're also starting our first day at Epcot with breakfast - you guessed it - at Akershus!

What is everyone's favorite character meal?

We LOVE the Ohana breakfast. We love that the food is served family-style, we adore the fruit and the homefries and the Mickey waffles, having a view of the castle from our table is magical, the character interaction is consistently good, and the Poly just has a south seas charm that we find so welcoming.

Our 18 year old super-cool DS :cool2: still lists this as a must-do on each trip. Thankfully, there's a little boy within that grown-up bearded exterior that still enjoys having a little child-like fun :) .

All that said....I am not sure if it will be part of the plans this year. We are taking DS's GF with us (her first trip to Florida!) and she is quite uncomfortable with the thought of meeting the characters. She is totally freaked out by clowns :confused3 and thinks this will be the same. We've been trying to explain to her that hamming it up with the Disney characters are nothing like the garish clowns she has seen at the circus. I don't want to force her into a situation she's not comfy with, so the jury is still out on whether we'll dine with the characters this trip or not. I may make a ressie just in case, then cancel closer to our travel date if she's still not excited about it.

We have also done dinner at Crystal Palace, the character dinner at the Grand Floridian, Chef Mickey's dinner, Tusker House's character breakfast, and the Shrek Feast at Gaylord Palms (Shrek, Fiona and Puss In Boots).

What is everyone's favorite character meal?

We loved the character interaction at Chef Mickey's but didn't enjoy the food.. in fact dinner made DH and I sick, but we still did breakfast there a few day's later. 1900 Park Fare breakfast character interaction with the Mad Hatter can not be beat, food was okay.

Our favorite by far was Crystal Palace, getting in to the park early, great character interaction, good food and beautiful restaurant. It was by far our favorite.

Tusker House breakfast! Food & character interaction is great and Neil is the best server!

What is everyone's favorite character meal?

We've only done Chef Mickey's and 'Ohana character meals, and both were for breakfast. I love Chef Mickey's for the character interaction, and it is my DH's favorite. The food was ok, but we're not big breakfast eaters anyway. I love 'Ohana because it has Stitch and I really like that it's served family style instead of buffet. If I could get all the characters of Chef Mickey's with the family style served breakfast of 'Ohana, it would be perfect.

Crystal Palace breakfast (the kids love the food), Akershus breakfast (we love the atmosphere), and Tusker House breakfast (we love EVERYTHING):thumbsup2

What is everyone's favorite character meal?

For breakfast I'd have to say Cape May (mmmmmm.. breakfast pizza.. lol) and Crystal Palace for the ambience & varied food selection. Character interaction at both has always been great!
For dinner.. Garden Grill was fun, & the food was very good.
:)
