Our family is doing something completely different. In the past we've stayed in values. In 2006 we had younger kids and spent our days in the parks, so ASSp worked out great. In 2010 and 2012 DH stayed behind and my mom treated the kids, with me paying my own way. Pop was perfect for us; my mom needed a roll in shower.
This time it will be me, DH again, DD17 and DS 14. Although we have loved POP (DS is actually disappointed we aren't staying there again), we really wanted to try something different. Some reasons: I would like to not have to ride a bus every day this time, we are going to be there in summer rather than fall/winter (can't take kids out of school anymore) and are expecting to need a mid day break, and want to eat some of our meals in our room because I doubt we'll be big eaters (again, the heat).
I still like a deal, though, so we rented DVC points through a DIS member here. With this being the last trip while both kids are under 18, we couldn't decide on one area as our favorite so split things up. I used the crowd calendar at EasyWDW to pick the order.
Aug 16-18 BWV standard studio. We thought about BCV, but we decided to go with DS pick. His birthday is the 14th so we'll be celebrating that. I'm exited to see the BW entertainers on our first night; we've never seen that before. We requested the first floor because DH and DD don't like heights. We'll be visiting Epcot and HS during this stay.
Aug 19-20 VWL studio. DS thinks this looks boring
but the rest of us are really excited. We'll celebrate DD birthday even though it is really in January, and this was her choice. That's probably just as well since the BLT studios are so small. She loves MK and can't wait to do Sorcerers of the MK. Another thing we are really looking forward to is visiting FW, which we have never been able to get to. We requested first floor again. I recently heard about the refurb that will take place, so will keep a close eye on the progress with that. DS is planning on sleeping on an air mattress, so a murphy bed as an option here would be great!
Aug 21-23 AKV Jambo studio. We picked Jambo over Kidani so we could experience the main lodge, but we will probably visit Kidani's pool area and maybe Sanaa. I'm so looking forward to staying here. I went to school for Biological Sciences and worked for a number of years at our local Zoological Society, so animals are obviously a love of mine. We picked standard view because I was worried about the walk we might get with a SV studio. Also, I figured in August the animals will probably not be too active and being on the 5th floor, may not have a great view anyway. By this point we'll probably be moving at a slower pace, and will enjoy the resort and AK. We'll probably spend one of the evenings at DTD as well. Our 22nd anniversary is Sept 5, so we'll be celebrating that here. I know we'll have a 5th floor room here, so requested close to lobby without being right off the atrium.
I apologize if this was too much info. But it's been so cold here this winter and I'm really looking forward to this trip right now. (Although by August maybe I'll be over the hot weather instead...)
