The disney rewards visa card member discounts started today and it opens to the general public on Monday for August. I booked my change today. It will probably be the only type for this time. I am glad they didn't wait till April.

DW and I are going 'round and 'round as to which resort to stay at now - keep the same room type and save money, or book a standard room at WL for roughly the same cost that we're at now. I'm hoping to have it all hashed out by Monday.

Got the new discount applied too and saved $695. Happy. Now we can feel comfortable with our two extra days.

Good Luck!! If it makes you feel better, I stayed in the LM rooms in December. They were cute as heck, but I think I would be happier being at Pop and closer to the main building in the summer heat. I don't know if anyone is still looking for ADR's for the last week of August but some times must have just opened up. The only thing not available was Be Our Guest. Everything else that is usually hard to get is wide open. We don't plan on Ohana this trip because it's dh's favourite and he isn't coming.. we'd miss him too much. But it's open with multiple good times for every day of our trip. Worth a look if you are waiting for something other than BOG.

Ok.. it's official! We just booked. Beach Club Standard from August 21st to the 29th!!

I also snagged a flight down as the prices had dropped. It's a non-stop and I bought two of them for $123 each, and used points for a third. So half of our air is paid for at $265 (that includes the small fee to use points and ECBI for all of us.. I never go without it).

Now if I can just get that flight home to drop I am all set.

Ouch. I know our neighbours to the west always have it tough when it comes to transportation there and back. Everytime I feel like crabbing about our flight prices, I always think of those living in Alberta, Manitoba, etc. and remember how lucky we are to be able to fly from NY State.

Dh and I have talked about moving to Sarnia just so we can cross the boarder to fly to WDW That and more house for less money. We talk about every year when we book our flights. We compare the cost between detroit and here…so far Dh isn't convinced

Pretty much all booked up but waiting to see what discounts Disney offers to see if I can bring the costs down, but heres what it is looking like so far:

9 Nights/10 Days, Beach Club, SV + 7 Day tickets w/ 1 day FREE waterpark admission- $2930

Food/souvenirs/Pirates League & Maybe A Pirates Cruise for the kids- $1700 (estimate)

Thats $146.95 Per Person/Per Day

okay we do like to dine at signature restaurants, but even without that we'd spend much more than that on 4 of our family members.

Lol we do this every time also. Not sure which way it'll go - it'll depend on savings as well s family and friends. I doubt they'd be willing to upgrade from POR to BC, but our family is quite a bit bigger than theirs - and the extra space would be VERY nice.

But then, this is the last trip we'd be able to stay (in one room) at POR and part of me would like to just to say I have. I'm not sure which way I'll go on this.

But then if we switch to BC, and then free dining comes out (and is the better deal), then we'd be back at POR with fee dining, oh how the fickle finger of fate plays with my trip!

Depends on the resort. 35% over 6+ nights heavily outweighs the 5-7% increase in tickets. If you're at AoA, though and only getting 15%, the savings are greatly reduced.

I have to say, though, saving anything is a win when you're already planning on going anyway.

Lol well I was just estimating compared to last year. We came home with a couple hundred dollars extra from our dining expenses! We are grazers, we dont really eat alot at one time so splitting meals works for us. And I always have kids meals. It was just way too hot to feel full all the time. The dining plan for the 4 of us would be about $1400, and that includes desserts at every meal, and 9 TS credits. We only do about 5 or 6 TS, we dont usually have desserts at meals, we bring TONS of snacks for the room and a few breakfast items. It sounds crazy but it does work for us lol

lol, if I were going to move closer to a border, I would definitely pick the Niagara Falls or Gananoque regions vs. Sarnia. Detroit is just so industrial, while the other two areas are so much prettier (Niagara for the Falls and the wineries and Niagara-on-the-Lake, and Gananoque for the 1000 Islands). Maybe you just need to offer your DH a few different choices to win him over to your side .

I have a quick question .. Staying BC 8/20-8/29 .Purchased 8 day PH +WP option... But we are only planning on 1day at TL.. No DQ. Or mini golf so my ? Is...should I just buy a one day ticket for TL instead of adding the WP+ for the entire length of my stay? Can you even do that? Thank you
