*****Official August 2014 Thread - PART DEUX****

I packed the kids luggage last night and I picked up all 5 books on CD from the library. DH decided to leave next Friday right after work to drive down. We were going to get up at 2am to start driving but why wait? I know neither one of us is going to fall asleep anyway! Let's just hope we can get our room at Pop early so we can try for a quick nap once we arrive.

We got some exciting news earlier this week. Our Dis friends from our January cruise just booked a last minute trip which overlaps our trip by a day! DD was do excited about seeing her cruise friend again that she literally screamed with joy when I told her.

I'm looking for DTD info. I really, really want to go shopping at DTD but my husband has been hearing horror stories about the drive to get there and to park. Same with the buses. We discussed going to a nearby resort to eat, leave our car there and then take the boat over but I've been hearing about 3hr parking passes and towed cars. Any tips on how to get there?

Are you staying on site? If so I like taking the bus, get off the first stop and walk to the second one. Going early is the key and DONT go at nite unless you really want to as the crownd are brutal. If you do drive, parking is near the second stop by the movie threatre and again go early like 830am or so.

We are staying at Pop and renting a car. My DH has been reading some not so good things about DTD due to all the construction going on down there. The only day we have available for DTD was our arrival day so we wouldn't be able to go down there until the afternoon and it's a Saturday. We will either have to skip it or suck it up.

Not sure where my head has been but finally had my DS13 try on all the clothes he is going to bring with him and now we have to make an emergency trip to find shirts and shorts to fit him. The kid grew so much! I asked him if his sneakers were working for him and he said yes but when I challenged him he said his toes were a little squished. I took him to get new ones and he went from a men's 7.5 to a 9.5! Oh my.

I would definitely take the bus from Pop and not drive on a Saturday. If things get crazy, I would maybe try to take a taxi back

I hear you! We just realized my son needs new running shoes, and both my kids need new bathing suits, they've worn them out this summer and while we do have back ups....they're not that nice. So off to the Mall I go......probably to encounter only fall and winter merchandise! :scared1:

so ill be there in 3 days yay! but I checked the weather and it said rain everyday 40 percent chance for like the next 10 days. does this mean no sun at all or is it just for the daily rain showers they get and mostly sunny the rest of the days?

We're leaving tomorrow morning and should be at AoA by noon! :woohoo:

Got our boarding numbers from Southwest: A45-51. Pretty good, I think!

Don't know how I will focus at work today. I'm way too distracted! :hourglass

The second bus stop near the old Pleasure Island has been closed for a while. Now the first bus stop near the Marketplace is the only one open--leading to more crowds for buses.

6 days to go for me! :dance3:

So excited reading everyone's comments about getting ready to leave!! We still have 11 days to go, but I started packing a little bit yesterday. Feels like the days are dragging. I know next week will go fast though, so I am just trying to enjoy this time leading up to everything! :)

It means, it will most likely rain everyday in the afternoon. Sometimes it is a quick passing showering, sometimes it lasts longer.

It is usually very nice in the morning, rain hit in the afternoon, evening can be a mix of both.

Nothing to worry about. Poncho up and keep going.

It will be a mixed bag. Last summer we missed the rain most of the time because we were shopping, eating or on an attraction mid afternoon, so it was sunny when we went into a building and sunny when we came out, but everything was completely soaked so you could tell there was a quick but heavy rainfall. The clouds roll in and out so quickly, so you just never know.

I don't pay attention to the forecast much, I just assume it will rain everyday. I just check to see if there will be severe storms or wind. Even that doesn't impact our day much.

:rotfl: True. My biggest problem is that my bangs are too short and I have the worst eyebrows.

LOL! Well my biggest problem is that my hair weighs about 30 lbs.! I'd cut it short, but I learned maaaaaaany years ago as a teenager that short just doesn't work for me: mad: Plus it's extremely thick AND frizzy - I really made out in the hair dept. lol. I never wear it up, and this is our first summer trip so I've bought tons of barrettes and pony tail thingys as I just plan to wear it all up everyday.

Oh, I also have a big forehead (IMO) and I'll need to pull my bangs back too, or they'll curl up to my hairline anyway once I hit the humidity:rotfl: I don't think I'll mind taking all the pics on this trip and not being in any!

Maybe someone really talented can shave a small Mickey head into each of your eyebrows?;)

2 weeks and 6 days for us. Longest month of my life! I'm really trying to not wish summer away but I just want to go already!
