****OFFICIAL August, 2012 (PART 2)****

Have fun! Our last 2 weeks of waiting are going by soooooooo slowly!! I love hearing from those of you already there. Thanks for the update!

Tell me about it!!!! :faint:. At least we have a good thing to look forward to....we can do online check-in on Saturday :cool1: (if you are doing online check-in that is :goodvibes).

O.K. how sad am I....yesterday I decided to go through my fridge and throw away things that have been expired and stuff that looked like a science experiment gone wrong :scared1:. After I cleared all of that out, I then decided to go ahead and wash the entire fridge. So I had both of my DDs help me clear everything out and carefully pull out all of the shelves while I washed them. My fridge now looks so bare and crystal clean. For some reason I am doing these kinds of things around the house rather than packing for my trip :worried:. Maybe when we take down all of the suitcases this weekend, that will motivate me more.

OK my friends.......by popular demand it's the Disney bag rain poncho.......(ignore how I look, focus on the poncho.)

Oh my, that looks awesome and very creative :goodvibes. How were you able to do that? I would never of thought of doing something that creative, and the best part is that you will be very easy to see if someone in your party got lost :lmao:. You look great :goodvibes.

Tomorrow I want to get a pedicure and maybe manicure. I am an odd female. I actually don't enjoy getting this done but I like the end result, it lasts much longer than when I do it. I haven't had one (that someone else gave me) in over 2 maybe 3 years... I don't like strangers touching me. :lmao: I guess I could go buy some Disney polish and do it myself tomorrow night. Hrmm. We shall see.

I don't like getting pedicures or manicures either. Now my dd(9) loves pedicures, but she doesn't want to do it alone. So, she has talked me into getting pedicures. It is pure torture for me to have someone touch my feet. The end result of the pedicure is pretty.

I do the same thing before a trip. I clean the heck out of EVERYTHING. I just can't stand to come home to a mess when I'm already sad about vacation being over. Plus my sister and my neighbour watch the cats while we are away and I don't want anyone in the house when it's messy.

Hey Pigletto ----- watch this for multi-quoting!!!

Sending cyber hugs and pixie dust to you and your DD!pixiedust::hug: I can't wait to get in my Disney bubble also!

:grouphug:

My heart goes out to you and especially your DD, I couldn't image what to say to either one of my DDs if they asked that same question to me. Disney is the best medicine for your DD, she will have so much fun and hopefully will forget her troubles for at least a little while. Hope everything turns out well for her and it is not as serious as anyone may think it is. I'm also sending you pixiedust: for your entire family, in hopes that you all have the most wonderful trip ever

I'm so sorry to hear that. I would be heartbroken as a mom to have my dd ask that as well.:(
Give her a hug from all of us.

I'm so sorry to hear that. That must be so hard for her and your whole family. I'm sending a hug your way!

I just wanted to say while I don't have PCOS the doctor thought I did and its just controlled with birth control pills and/or metformin and/or weight loss. I started birth control pills when i was 16 for that reason. Later when we first started trying I was no longer on birth control pills so they put me on metformin. However then they did an ultrasound and saw no evidence of PCOS my bloodwork and painful periods (i literally fainted from cramps pain each month) pointed to that but that wasn't the case. Losing weight also helped alleviate my symptoms as well. Hope all goes well and if she does have PCOS hopefully the addition of birth control pills and/or metformin will have her feeling good soon. :)

Hugs and prayers to you my friend:hug: I hope you guys have an amazing trip !!

My heart send out to you and your little girl. Wish you and your family a wonderful vacation. :)

So sorry to hear that your DD has another thing to deal with. It's hard enough being a kid/teen without having to deal with health issues.

I was diagnosed with PCOS when I was 15. I ended up in the hospital while working in the kitchen at a sleep away camp in NH. That is when I was diagnosed. Needless to say my parents were frantic and I can only imagine the frightful ride they had while driving to NH to be with me. All that aside, I've been living with the disease all of my life. I was even told, when I was in my early 20's, that it would be next to impossible to have children as I rarely ovulated due to the amount of cysts present on my ovaries. Needless to say, here I am with two healthy and happy young adults as children today. PCOS is an annoying condition to have to deal with but it's manageable. Believe it or not, 1 in 10 women of childbearing age are afflicted with it. In this case your DD is not alone and I would bet that one of her schoolmates have it as well.

I hope you and your family have a magical trip and you can all escape from reality for a while while you are there. DW is the best medicine for just about anything!

Aw, poor Victoria :worried: . Sending her (and you too Mom) big hugs and good wishes for better health, both on your trip and beyond.

As someone who has been sick off & on my whole life too i completely understand how she is feeling. I started to get some answers when i was 23 finally & had 3 major surgeries since then. I was told my ppl double my age 9at the time) don't go through what i already went through. It is horrible on the psyche, especially for a teenager. I really hope it isn't that. Good luck!

I'm so sorry to hear that

Oh big hugs to Victoria. Hugs to you also! My kiddo hasn't gone thru all that yours has but I know what it feels like to be helpless and to want to just make them better. I swear he puts me to shame because sometimes he seems to be reassuring me that he'll be ok more than I am reassuring him! The strength in these kids that go thru so much is just amazing. I hope you all have the most magical time on your upcoming trip!

Oh hey, I just noticed we're going to be at 'Ohana breakfast at the same time!!!!

I know!!! I noticed that too! I'll definitely look for you!!

I really want to say thank you for everyone in this thread. You guys are the most caring, fun group anyone could ask for!!! I mean that from the bottom of my heart!!!!

:scared1: :scared: :scared1: :scared: :scared1: :scared:

pigletto.....STEP. AWAY. FROM. THE. COMPUTER. :badpc:

Totally agree with Gina on this one! At least wait until you come back from THIS trip!

I am just catching up after no Internet foe a few days(the horror!) but had to reply to this post. I have PCOS and fought for years for a diagnosis. It's awesome that's she's been diagnosed so young and they now recognize this syndrome/disease and actually treat it. All I can say is to research the heck out of it. Everything will be ok. And don't beleive anyone who says she won't be able to have kids. A specialist in Toronto told me that years ago and I really want an appointment with her again to show her my pictures of ds6 and dd4! If you or her wants to talk, pm me! Sending pixie dust your way.

I just saw this post and wanted to say that my neice and my sister both have PCOS. My sister was not diagnosed until her mid 30's and was unable to get pregnant after multiple rounds of invitro. but my niece was diagnosed at 17 and is on meds (I'm not sure which - I beleive the meds she's on are really for diabetes) but is doing fine. We are also watching my daughter for the same thing as she has a lot of the same symptoms that my sister and neice had. THoughts and prayers to you and your daughter.

It is really helping me to hear of so many people with the syndrome and how they live normal lives WITH children. See, that's my biggest fear for her. Her fear is to be insulin resistant and possibly it leading to diabetes. She sees what I go through and doesn't want that for herself.

I dont know what I like more-the poncho, or the fact that you're posing in your nightie and slippers!:lmao:

Ann-YOU ROCK!!!!!

Well, you can say both.....I'll let ya!

I wish I was creative. You rock!! I love it!!:thumbsup2

I just choked on my coffee :rotfl2: How creative!!!!

Ok, it wasn't my intention to make anyone spit out their coffee!!! Thank Goodness it wasn't Diet Coke!!

So cute! Love it! Very creative. You look adorable too! :)

Oh my, that looks awesome and very creative :goodvibes. How were you able to do that? I would never of thought of doing something that creative, and the best part is that you will be very easy to see if someone in your party got lost :lmao:. You look great :goodvibes.

Thank you for the compliments on the poncho. I saw the idea online and just kind of threw it together! You have to fuse the Disney bags with other stores bags to make it sturdy enough to sew. I think I will add another row or two from the bags I get this year. It was fun!

Leaving tomorrow! It literally took me ALL day yesterday to pack. I can't just pick shorts, pick shirts and put them in my suitcase. No. I have to pull out all the potential shorts, all the potential shirts, match a shirt with shorts, try them on to make sure they fit and look good, of course....THEN I have to match the outfit with the park and make sure I don't wear two similar colored shirts two days in a row, etc, etc.... It's quite the process!

Then on top of that, I was super excited about my new, smaller Vera bag. Usually I carry the hipster but I felt it was a bit too big. Well the new bag that I was so excited about is WAY too small. I tried to fit everything in but it's really flat and it just wouldn't work. So instead of the old tried and true hipster, I busted out a new hipster I bought a few years ago but just never used. It's a new style from my old hipster and actually turned out to be a bit bigger.....so there goes that. All that took about an hour and a half to work out.

I couldn't sleep last night because I was so worked up and I'm certainly not going to be able to sleep tonight so hopefully I can make it through the day at the MK tomorrow! Phones and cameras are currently charging. Not sure what I'm going to do with myself for the rest of the day today. I need to go take a walk or something!

This will be me come Sunday night! After I set 2 alarms PLUS request a wake up call from my dad, I still have the fear of not waking up in time for the flight!!
Throw in super-excitedness, and theres no sleep happening the night before-luckily I usually konck out on the plane so I'll get a 2 hour power nap in!:)

OK, gotta ask about the rental car. What company did you use and what rate did you get? Do you find it's hard to drive around the area? We've never rented a car and the area around Disney seems kind of confusing. And was it a hassle at the airport picking your car up? Did you have to wait forever in line?

I'm trying to make a very last minute decision here, as we're spending two days off site, (at least), at Universal. The cheapest rate I've found for a rental car, base rate and taxes was around $180. Add to that gas and several toll booths and I figure around $225, plus the parking fees I'll have to pay in the Universal garage for two separate days, plus possibly Sea World since we have free admission, I'm looking at close to $300 by the time it's all said and done.

On the other hand, I can get an amazing military rate at the Royal Pacific at Universal, with one hour early admission to the WWoHP and Express Plus passes for both parks included for $380. I would have to cab over there and cab to the airport, so another $100 tacked on to that for transportation.

I'm not rolling in the dough, but the extra $100 may be worth it by the time it's all said and done for the extra perks.

I'm so confused, HELP ME TEAM AUGUST!

OK. This is one area I can help!!!
Getting to Universal from the airport.. EASY:thumbsup2

Money for tolls.. I brought three rolls of quarters. I spent 10 tops (and I don't even think it was that much:rotfl2:)

What car rental company are you looking at? I need to know that first and then I can walk you through the pick up process.

Give me your dates, let me scour the car rental sites and give you some prices with the coupons codes I can find. I pretty much exclusively use Alamo because it is SO easy.

What size car do you need?

If you give me some details I will see what I can find for you. I know Gina is a whiz with the car rental deals too:thumbsup2

Oh and I misread your original post. I would HIGHLY recommend staying onsite at Universal. One night gets you early entry on both days and front of the line access which is PRICELESS.

But you don't have to cab it. You could get a rental, drive yourself there, and return it when you are done.

Nikki.. Your packing regime makes me tired just thinking about it:rotfl2:

I put a lot of attention into what I pack.. but packing for 4 makes me sacrifice style for myself.:rotfl:

Super awesome!!!! :thumbsup2

I do the same thing before a trip. I clean the heck out of EVERYTHING. I just can't stand to come home to a mess when I'm already sad about vacation being over. Plus my sister and my neighbour watch the cats while we are away and I don't want anyone in the house when it's messy.

Funny story.....our next door neighbours offered to look after our cat on our New Years getaway (usually we get DH's sister, but she hates cats AND lives across town .... so with the neighbours being so close, we thought it was a great offer and took them up on it). I clean the heck out of things before I leave too, 'cause I hate coming home to a mess and quite frankly, if someone's going to be prowling around my house, I want them to see my best (and not a ring around the bathtub, lol). So DH drops over to the neighbours when we get home to pick up the key, and they beckon him inside. They proceed to tell him "Don't tell Gina we said this"....but how shocked they were at the lack of clutter and how immaculate the house was, and then asked him if I suffered from Obsessive Compulsive Disorder :rotfl2: (and no, they weren't kidding!!).

For the record......I don't disagree.....I am an OCD sufferer and not ashamed to admit it :thumbsup2 . It's just a part of my uniqueness in this world :rotfl: .

Throw in super-excitedness, and theres no sleep happening the night before-luckily I usually konck out on the plane so I'll get a 2 hour power nap in!:)

I soooo wish I could sleep on the plane. My excitedness won't let me close an eye, not even for a minute :hyper: . Heck, I'm lucky if I can sleep the three nights before!!!

If you give me some details I will see what I can find for you. I know Gina is a whiz with the car rental deals too:thumbsup2

Gina hates paying full price. For anything. Call it my "Shopping OCD". So yes ma'am, send those dates along and the August Cheapo's will be happy to help you find a good deal.

I also concur with the wise and well travelled pigletto.....for a trip to Universal, its onsite or bust ::yes:: . You will never want to visit a theme park without Express Passes ever again. And the resorts are beautiful!

Nikki.. Your packing regime makes me tired just thinking about it:rotfl2:

Good morning from Disney World! I can't believe I am awake already....although it always happens on my first day of my trip:) I will be sorry later, but once my eyes open, my mind starts going:)
Last night we decided to make today a MK day instead of an AK day. It was an easy switch since we have Ohana tonight. The only glitch was that I made reservations at the barbershop for Friday, so I hopped in the phone at 9:58 last night to make new reservations. I could get 2 separate appts today, at 10 and 5. Here's hoping I can get them both done at 10. It cuts into our morning routine, but I am trying to relax and do things at a calmer pace this trip. :scared1:

A few notes about the trip so far....
We love the rental car...great move for this trip since we are hopping and doing a few resort adrs. For the price we got, we are happy!
SSR is a nice resort! We are in the closest building to the main pool, restaurants, etc. There are some nice extras that the kids are excited about.

Our dresser was broken when we got here....took 2 requests to have someone come to take care of it, but they came pretty quickly after the 2nd request.
My kids were so excited to see Stacy on the tv....they even remember her name! She has to update her Dumbo footage though:)

Tomorrow we are off to our first family trip to Sea World. The kids don't know yet, so I am actually holding in a good surprise!:woohoo:

Here's hoping it is a comfortable here today as it was when we got here yesterday. Low humidity is a plus here!

Have a great day everyone!

So good to hear your update! Keep 'em coming!

Yes! They have a backpack to purchase for $18.95 when you spend $40. It is dark grey with a redish WDW logo and classic Mickey. Really cute...not at every store though!

That's a pretty good deal. Would be a great souvie.

OK my friends.......by popular demand it's the Disney bag rain poncho.......(ignore how I look, focus on the poncho.)

Your poncho is a hoot!!

STAY ONSITE! I'm el cheapo too - but with your scenario, I would stay onsite. Plus it would just be so amazing to have the Express perks. Some day we';ll go to Universal, and I plan to stay onsite then too :)

Hey, anyone there have any word on the current bounce back offer?

I haven't seen anything. One person said it wasn't in their room. Supposedly you can call and ask but no one did (to my knowledge unless i missed it). If no one posts it before I get there I will call and ask if nothing is in my room and post it! :thumbsup2

I was searching around DIS and found a link to this board http://www.passporterboards.com/forums/staying-style-resorts-hotels-walt-disney-world/263037-bounceback-offers-2.html
That says someone called and asked and they told her no BB at this time. :P
Hopefully its just not out yet and we'll still get something.
However the same DIS thread said it started today. http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2975330

I know you didn't ask me, but thought I'd throw my 2 cents in. We got a great deal about 4 weeks ago directly from the Dollar site using the City Special. I think it was $150 for Fri - Fri full size. Just last week, I'd thought I try priceline and got a full size from Avis for $140.

Tolls are probably no more than $8 for the round trip. I can't remember ever putting more that $20 or $30 of gas into the car before returning it.

DH has no problem getting around the world. We take it off property to eat and do some shopping.

I don't like getting pedicures or manicures either. Now my dd(9) loves pedicures, but she doesn't want to do it alone. So, she has talked me into getting pedicures. It is pure torture for me to have someone touch my feet. The end result of the pedicure is pretty.

Love pedis. DD and I are going either tonight or tomorrow night. It depends on if my uncle is up for company tonight.

We "cleaned" out the fridge last night. Everyone had leftovers or had to make their own last night. Our fridge is on the bare minimum right now. Tonight (DH is golfing) I'll pick up the kids something and I'll make myself something quick. Tomorrow, my mom is having us over.

I see a few of you are offering car rental help? Let me know if you can help me! We get into Orlando 8/24 at noon and depart 9/3, 10am flight. If we can get a good rate for that whole time, just help with a week in that time period would be great. Let me know, thanks!

Are you a member of Costco? I'm seeing 239 for a full sized car for those dates, that includes all taxes and fees.

Not sure what type of car you looking for. Hotwire has a full size for $14/day for a total of $231.40, economy for $12/day for a total of $208.02. Pickup location is right at the airport.

Priceline seems to be a bit pricier right now.
