****OFFICIAL August, 2012 (PART 2)****

So my Disney anxiety kicks in, I check and double check our ADR online. On our arrival night, we called and got a res at T-Rex since are planning to chill out on arrival day. Well, there is a res just open up for Chef Mickey at 8pm. So I took it but now not sure if it was a good idea. I like the idea of having the kids dine with the mouse and his friends the first night. (or maybe I just cant wait till the next morning) I am not sure if it was a good idea for 8pm ressie since we are planning for rope drop the next day.
what do you think? I cant seem to make up my mind and DH just likes "Oh, whatever you want Honey, it is fine with me!:furious:" He should know better that I never know what I want 100% sure. hahhaa :dance3:

I vote on TRex.
I personally hate early mornings after late nights and it's sometimes just nice to relax a little instead of stick with tradition

I am so sorry. You and your family will be in our thoughts and prayers. I lost my Dad to cancer (which went from lungs to bones to his brain) in 2010, so I can empathize more than you know. Hang in there.

Here's wishing you pixie dust for your Uncle. :wizard: And thank you for the kind words for my daughter....

That goes to everyone ---- thank you for wishing us luck in our upcoming battle.:goodvibes

I hope everything works out and you can still make your trip. I never fully relax until we are on the ground having arrived in Orlando. It's amazing how life throws us so many hardballs. I guess that's one of the reasons why we enjoy our time at DW so much. Its always so magical and we are able to forget our worries while there. Sending you some pixie dust. :tink:

Thanks, ladies. I'm waiting to hear from my mom for any updates, so hopefully it is not as bad I fear.

Thats great you were able to catch them in the parks! In all the times we have gone the only place we ever saw them was at a character meal. I have seen Peter Pan by the ride as well. My DD was around 6 at the time and was very worried that Tink wasn't around with him! She talked about it all day until we went to the fireworks and saw her flying from the castle. She was relieved to see she was ok. Too cute!

That is so cute!!!

I do have some good news....(amazing, huh?) I GOT MY YELLOW MAGICAL EXPRESS luggage tags today!!!! I know you all kept saying I didn't need them, but I feel SO MUCH BETTER having them on the luggage. :cool1:

:banana::cool1::cheer2:

I'm sorry I missed this earlier. Sending you strength. I hope you are able to take your trip and relax. It sounds like many of us really need this break doesn't it?

I wouldn't be Pigletto if I wasn't doubting my resort choice just a bit.

I was just looking at the AoA thread and a little sad that we won't be there for this trip. A new resort is exciting! I can always book it for February I suppose. I miss Port Orleans though and really want to stay there again. Let the games begin. I guess it's not a bad thing that I love so many of the resorts. I have something positive to stay about every one we've stayed at. :)

If you are doing rope drop the next day I would stick with Trex. We did a Chef Mickeys on arrival night once and it was a pretty miserable experience. We started our day at 5 am, travelled all day, checked in to the resort, got changed and then made our way over to Chef Mickeys for 6:30pm. We were exhausted. DD got sick to her stomach from being so tired and too much dessert. Dh and I were cranky.... it was really not the magical first night vibe I was going for:rotfl:

I've learned at least for us if we've been in travel mode all day, we need to take it easy the first night.

I think I will end up with this Lands End backpack. Just bites that it's $70!!! Double the cost of what we paid 2 yrs ago as there isn't a good sale yet.

Could they make do with their old ones for a few weeks? You'll likely see some sales by the end of September. Or maybe try LL Bean? They have the guarantee as well. My neighbours son ripped his somehow and they sent a new one for free a year and a half after she bought it.

Amen! I was supposed to stay at Pop all week, but I just couldnt be in WDW and NOT stay part of the week at POR:love: Thats why were switching after 2 days lol. And YES, I also sense ALOT of needed vacations from our group. I myself have secretly given death threats to almost everyone I work with-which usually is a sure sign of Work-Burnout:rotfl2:

Thanks! I didnt think about that. We started out at 3AM in MN, no way we will be still awake at 8pm in Orlando. :( I really want to see the mouse but I guest I have to wait. :( I think rope drop would be fun. I am not sure I will be asleep that night anyway. :) Talk about excitement:yay:.
I cant sleep when I am excited. I can cry just to think about my kids face at Magic Kingdom. They had been counting days for 6 months now and keep saying "When are we going home?" They never been there but they call WDW is their home. :lovestruc

I hope you get some better answers. But gluten is wheat not lactose/sucrose or maltose. Those are sugars. Poor kid. So I think he can have his waffle just not with syrup. Going to Disney and no sugar. :sad2: Is it total intolerance or can he have some just not alot? Disney does have lots of sugar free desserts. I've noticed there is at least one option on all the menus. So I think he just needs to go sugar free which will be much easier than gluten free. I hope someone has a reply for you because I have 0 experience.
:
Unfortunately, maltose is a complex sugar created when starch is digested so he is pretty limited on potatoes, wheat, corn and rice. His enzyme levels are low but not horribly so, so right now we start with eliminating as much as we can, slowly add things back and monitor him and try to determine what his limits are. I see there are gluten free mickey waffles, not sure what to do about syrup but I'm pretty sure he will put up with the discomfort. He ate 6 of them when we were at 'Ohana! LOL Just have to make sure we keep plenty of immodium on hand.

Oh, btw, I read a few pages back that your hubby is responding well to his shot and your trip is a definite!! HOORAY!!!!
:cool1: :cheer2:

Just want to pop in and say hi to everyone. I haven't been on the boards lately too much, but we got some news from Victoria's doctor on Friday that kind of thrown us for a loop. The doctor suspects Victoria has Polycystic ovarian syndrome. The are referring her to the endocrinologist down in Portland and the appointment will be AFTER we come back. I know this isn't a death sentence and the severity of the condition will determine the treatment plan, but it's just another thing my poor 14 year old has to deal with. She's been sick all her life and it breaks my heart when she asks my why can't she be like everyone else. It's hard to console her when I'm thinking the same exact thing!
THIS, MY FRIENDS, IS WHY WE GO TO DISNEY WHEN WE CAN!!! WE ARE ALL HAPPY AND HEALTHY THERE....EVEN FOR A SHORT TIME! :goodvibes
Oh big hugs to Victoria. Hugs to you also! My kiddo hasn't gone thru all that yours has but I know what it feels like to be helpless and to want to just make them better. I swear he puts me to shame because sometimes he seems to be reassuring me that he'll be ok more than I am reassuring him! The strength in these kids that go thru so much is just amazing. I hope you all have the most magical time on your upcoming trip!

Oh hey, I just noticed we're going to be at 'Ohana breakfast at the same time!!!!

I don't have anything helpful to share with you, just wanted to let you know I'll be thinking of you and your DS and sending some pixie dust.

I have this nagging feeling (with how my year has been going) that I won't be getting on the plane Friday or will have to come back early. My uncle is in the hospital (hasn't been doing well for months) with a collapsed lung and a biopsy came back positive for lung cancer.
Thank you!
I am so sorry to hear about your uncle, I'll say a prayer and send pixie dust your way pixiedust:

I'm doing the same thing!!! LOL Our flight doesn't get in until 10:15 pm but I still like them on there, it's all part of what makes the upcoming trip more 'real' :rotfl:

We made it! We got to SSR
, unpacked, and went right to the pool. After about 20 minutes the rain storm came in but we made it back to the resort in time. once the heaviest rain past we decide to head to downtown disney to grab dinner at earl of sandwich. I was shocked how comfortable the weather was when we got here today! It was just slightly humid.

To the person who wanted Lands End backpacks, they are offering 25% off everything but it ends tonight!

2 weeks we will be on the road to Disney!! Wow I sure have a lot to accomplish in 14 days. I am not sure if I want to do the happy dance or crawl under the covers and hide.

Sent from my iPhone using DISBoards

AAAAKKKK. I feel the same way. Working all day and doing the music thing in the evenings.... I am wearing waaay too many hats right now! LOL

Ok, on a totally different topic, I am a bit miffed. I had to find a phone number for AoA to ask a question and looked for about 15mins before I found one. In the mean time, I called the Disney general reservation number to ask the question or get the phone number. Well the CM wouldn't give me the number and asked what my need was. I told him and he said he could put the request right on my reservation. So I said thank you and hung up. Then something in the back of my head said, no, you better call them also just to check. Well, I got a totally different answer. After finding the dang number I asked the CM and she (who didn't even answer the phone with Hello, Art of animation or anything but hello) :confused3 had to put me on hold 3 times to figure out if they can do my request. Now I will admit that my request isn't normal but also not completely way out there. Our Ds is autistic and wears pull-ups to bed because he still has bedwetting issues due to that. But even with those on, it still gets on the bed. I don't want to ruin a mattress at a resort so I asked for a mattress pad. I would think they use those anyway to protect their beds. By the way, no they don't (again :confused3)?? So the CM comes back on the phone saying they don't have them and can't get them and the only thing they can do is put a shower liner under the sheets, really??? or another idea, I can bring my own???:furious: Am I wrong to be miffed??? :sad2: I want my son to not have to roll around on plastic and have it puddle on him and the sheets but I have to bring my own (which I would have to buy since the bed he is sleeping on I don't own in that size)

Sorry my venting is done but still miffed...

Well, at least they were willing to try to help you out, even if it wasn't in exactly the most helpful of ways. How about if you brought a pack of chux pads with you? They are far more comfortable to sleep on and absorbent so they won't puddle.

:rotfl:

I won't change it now. Pigletto is also cheap and I don't want to lose the $50 dollar change fee:rotfl:
Plus AoA upgraded to the regular dining was a few hundred MORE than a Fort Wilderness Cabin with free dining. Go figure:rolleyes1

I will head over there while I am on vacation and have lunch in the food court and see if it's somewhere we'd like to stay next time.

OMG!!!! It is SOOOO muggy here!To the point rain does not help at all...not even a bit for an hour! it is almost to the point if the weather in florida will be a slight relief if the weather is as forcast right now...:rotfl:

It's cold here. I wore a sweater to take the kids to the park today!:scared1:
I actually wish it would get gross and hot like it was last week so I am used to it when we get there:rotfl:

yeah it has been chilly here too! Thankfully we're getting some rain finally, my poor lawn was just crispy :(

Thanks everyone for all your feedback! I'm sticking with 1900 Park Fare and am giving up Tusker House.

Anyone need an 8:15am Tusker House ADR on Aug 28th?

So frustrated. I spent a LOT of time last week shopping for rolling backpacks for my kids. They came in today.

My DD was upset with me because I ended up buying the wrong color somehow. Then they also pointed out there is no water bottle holder - which was yet another thing I missed somehow.

I think I will have to just send them back.

Now I don't know what bags to order. These were expensive enough - $55 a bag but I bought them because of the Jansport lifetime guarantee. My kids are not impressed not having a spot for their water bottles though....and to be honest, I'm not happy with that either. Don't know HOW I missed that when I was shopping!

I really don't want to spend more than $50 or so. Last time I spent only $30 each but there just aren't any good sales :( The guarantee is also important to me.

I think I will end up with this Lands End backpack. Just bites that it's $70!!! Double the cost of what we paid 2 yrs ago as there isn't a good sale yet.

Too many decisions to make UGH!

What day/time are you going to Park Fair? It would be awesome if we were there at the same time.

Do you have a Winners near you? They often have backpacks at a good price.

After it was to late a realized I made a mistake like that. We have a late night at HDDMR and the next morning we are at Crystal Palace BEFORE rope drop! Great after a late night of all the beer soft drinks and chicken we can put down we get to get up earlier then we usually do and have all the Mickey Waffles we can eat
