ok so my normal is just to LURK here but now that my comupter is fixed i would like to intorduce my self Im Lillylynnb and im addicted to disney all my friends say im nuts but this is our thing we do!! My family is Me, my dh (Goofy),my ds (darth vader) and last my dd (our own princess)!We will be at Disney (our home away from home ) Aug.26 to Sept.2 Staying at POR for the first time ! CANT WIAT ITS OING TO BE GREAT!!!!!

We're 17 days out and I'm in a lull in the planning process. Not much left to do, which is good because things are crazy busy at work and home over the next 2 wks. Here's all that I have left (besides packing, which I'll do the day before we leave- I took that afternoon off so I can pack at home ALONE without the kids or DH getting in my way!

-back up camera battery should be delivered today. Get that in the camera bag or at least into the "Disney" box

-scrub stroller and let it dry (it's filthy right now!)

- take DD to the bank so she can cash out her piggy banks (she's become a total klepto stealing change everywhere she finds it for her "disneyworld" fund

- call bank to let them know we'll be out of town and request temporary debit card limit increase

- print schedules, confirmation #s and boarding passes and put them in the folder in my carry-on

- make sure we have dog food and that the snake gets fed before we leave (he only eats once a week)

- make sure all meds are refilled so we have enough for the trip
- find/buy another M&M tube so we have 2 for pressed penny money. I haven't seen those at any store lately! hope I can still find one!

Unrelated to the trip, but needs to be done before we leave:

- school shopping (not clothes, just papers, pencils, etc)
- order DD's birthday invites and cake (her b-day will sneak up on us when we get back)

I had the idea of getting some 2012 pennies (we already have at least one) and doing one for each park and making it a new tradition (since we have none). But I didn't realize there were so MANY! How many do you usually get? Does the year even matter? Is it totally pressed out? I figured it would still show but I'm not seeing any remnants of the year on presscoins.com. Maybe I should just do one...

I have never seen the policy where you get charged more per gallon for using a credit card in IA or IL. I have seen where they hold a certian amount because they want to make sure you can cover your entire purchase but I figured the hold went away once you were done pumping.

I saw it more a couple years back driving from Buffalo to NYC. There were a lot of complaints about it so maybe places stopped doing it.

As far as the hold, it took about 3 days for it to release the other $40. I make sure to check now whenever I get gas on the road! lol

We did pressed pennies on our first trip - focused on rides we had done/areas we had seen. Don't think the 2012 date will show at all but I could be wrong. TIP: wash your pennies in ketchup before going...it will make them shiny!

I was talking with a germaphobic friend who confessed she washed her DD's coins before letting her play with them....she got excited when I told her about ketchup LOL!

Hi All,

This is probably too last minute, but I recently became aware of photopass sharing. Since it's just my Son and I, and I have a camera, I've never really worried about photopass- too expensive for the pic opportunities I could see us using. But I am going back to Disney in October solo, and got in with a few others to share a pass - which makes it much more reasonable. Is there anyone doing this for August? Or would like too?
