Sorry guys, I haven't been on here lately.......

Just wanted to let everyone know that I had to put my loving Rusty kitty down on Friday morning. He was 14 years old and a diabetic so for him to live as long as he did was good. He was there when Victoria was a baby and used to sleep in her crib. He saw me through my abusive marriage, moving, my dad's death, my memere's death, meeting Peter and trying the squeeze his way in between Peter and I for his spot in bed. I loved him so so much!

So sorry to hear that. :-(

Its going to be a great week. Yesterday was my anniversary, today is my birthday, and the day after tomorrow I am going to Disney World :cheer2::cheer2: I cant complain thats Monday :goodvibes Packing tonight and we're good to go!:thumbsup2

UPDATE about the anxiety and vacation blues, well my vacation blues are over but I am worried sick about EVERYTHING. I cant sleep, woke up with a headache from lack of sleep. I just cant relax .

Happy belated anniversary and Happy Happy Birthday today!!!!

Sorry you are so worried. Hopefully Disney will relax you once you get there. :goodvibes

Meanwhile I am finally in the teens!! 19 days!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Due to the weather talk I decided to see if I could find an extended forecast for Orlando and found this which goes out 25 days:
http://www.accuweather.com/en/us/orlando-fl/32801/august-weather/328169?view=table

It only goes out til the 23rd but it shows thunderstorms my entire week so far. :P hopefully that is wrong. But I will take the 80s for my highs. I know the weather forecast is hardly ever right but we might as well be on watch...
:surfweb:

Welcome to the group!! We get there the same day. :) where are you staying?

We are staying near Sea World at the Fairfield Inn & Suites. We'll be driving to Disney on the 17th, 19th and 20th.

So very excited!! We aren't telling DS until we get to the airport.

You have to remember that no matter what the forecast calls for, it will rain or thunderstorm everyday. It's just the way it is this time of year there. Don't let it get you down, it's just one of those things you can't control. Wear waterproof mascara.

Quite frankly, I'm praying for rain to keep the temperatures down.

I know everyone says it rains every day, but we rarely experience rain at Disney, even quick storms. We still pack our ponchos every day just in case, but we rarely have used them in the past 6 trips (which is usually mid August.) Now I am hoping I am not cursing myself, but we seem to be really lucky when it comes to rain.

Last September it rained on us every day but one. The day would always start clear, get progressively cloudy starting around lunch time, then it would start to pour around 4-ish in the afternoon. We were always soaked for our dinner reservations.

The one day it didn't rain was the day we went to MNSSHP, so I was greatful but holy frijoles it was disgusting hot, even at 11pm. We were sweating profusely waiting for the 11:15 Villains show.

Holy Moly, you guys were busy this weekend. There are over 15 pages to read. Hopefully I will get a chance to read them all. But until then I just wanted to say "Hi".

I'm so nervous over bad weather. I can handle afternoon storms but if another Debby rolls through I will be heartbroken :(

I hear ya! I wasnt on all weekend-but between getting ready to move this week plus work-I have had no time to play:confused3

I have a question...What's the nearest beach when driving to Orlando? (meaning it doesn't have to be closest to Orlando just closest to 'on the way' once you get into FL. I am coming from IA so I won't hit any of the east coast beaches).

I really LOVE the ocean and haven't seen it in a long time. But I always burn and end up in the hospital or at least fainting (and yes I use sunscreen and stay under an umbrella) and with DH's psoriasis we've never been to a beach together. I was just thinking that if maybe one was on the way we could stop for an hour or two on the way home or there. :confused3 Maybe...I don't know..just a thought.

Ooh another question. I am worried about my DH overheating. With his psoriasis he can't sweat. I plan on doing the frozen washcloth thing and I want to get him a mister/fan. I've been trying to find one locally without luck but I think getting a Disney one would be a cool souvenier anyway so I may just wait til we get there for one.

Any other ideas?

Thanks! :flower3:

I'm not sure if it's the closest, but we went to Cape Canaveral once and it was really nice

I was only able to get through a few pages.

When you get to WDW let your anxiety go and have fun. The trip will probably be the best money you have spent since it seems as though you need a vacation and want this vacation.

I know I will let go of all my anxiety once the plane lands in Orlando.

I just created a poll asking people their anti-chafting method of choice on the tips board. Here is the link http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2965939

Can some of you answer? Thanks!!! :goodvibes

I voted Body Glide. I have never used it in Disney, but do use it for my runs and swear by it.

I think I've found the answer to my coffee nightmare. So long as I can use the in-room coffee maker just to heat up hot water... I can, right?

You can just run the water through without putting in the coffee grinds.

Here's a question for all you Team August peeps out there. Do you ever come home from Disney with MORE money than you thought you would????

My answer... Only once. we were not as hungry on a trip when we weren't on the DDP and didn't spend all our alloted food money. How bout you??? :confused3

I think we have spent less then we thought on all of our trips.

I'll take suggestions! Mostly I'm worried about the extra food. We'll be there 3 days without the free dining, plus the dining plan doesn't cover quite everything. I would love to get souvenirs, and I am positive my son will be asking for a lot of things, but if we can't do it, we can't do it. Food though, we can't live without. I'd also really like to do the Behind the Seeds Tour.

I have a couple of suggestions:

1. Only eat 2 meals a day. Have a late breakfast/early lunch and then dinner later on. We tend to eat this way, especially in the summer heat.

2. Pack granola bars, instant oatmeal, etc to eat for breakfast or snacks.

Exactly!! The rain really does make the heat a little more tolerable.

We just bought a Frogg Togg Chilly Pad. We put it to the test at a baseball game yesterday. It really does get cool after it is wet...unbelievable! We got one through Amazon (on of their sellers, not them) for around $15 with shipping. It will be helpful in so many situations for us!

I am happy to report that my facility received a gold star from the Department of Health with 0 deficiencies found during survey. This is quit an accomplishment and we are all very proud!

Now, with survey over and behind me, we are 30 days away from arriving at POR! I can finally relax and enjoy the anticipation :cool1:

I received our Photopass+ voucher in the mail today. WooooooHooooo! There is a small sticker on the outside of the CD box that says "no refunds or exchanges if seal is broken". I quickly opened it just because I could now with no threat of having to cancel!

Now to catch up on the thread. You guys have been busy!

:banana::banana::yay::yay:

Congrats!!!

QOTD: Do you tip mousekeeping?? I know it's optional and there's been much debate over it on these boards but since we're all friendly (and I wanted to share a picture!) I thought we can all share our opinions!

I make mousekeeping envelopes - 1 for each morning of my trip. I give $3 per day. All my envelopes are already printed and stuffed! :)

Screenshot2012-07-28at10206PM.png

We usually do $5 a day for the 4 of us. I learned the hard way not to just leave the money on the sink without a note. Mousekeeping did not take it when I just left the money, which I guess is a good thing. I know always leave a note on top saying "For Mousekeeping"

I am a huge Olymipc fan and was a torch bearer in 2010 for the Winter Olympics. I've Been taking my holidays during the Olympics since the LA Olympics in1984. This year I won't be able to take the time off because we are only aloud two weeks during the summer and our trip to Disney is using both of them. Luckily a coworker of mine knows how important the Olympics are to me so he is letting me take one of his weeks and he will take one of mine in Sept so now I have next week of to watch the games.

For the opening ceremonies I worked the midnight shift so I was off at 7am and had plenty of time to rest up in time to watch them live on CTV then the rebroadcast on NBC. I took some flack from my bosses boss but it was so worth it.

:welcome: to our gang...er umm I mean club! Be sure to check out page one for directions on how to get your free printable Great 8 Mickey Head.

We and by we, I mean my DD just leaves a note each morning for mouse keeping telling them what we are doing today, and if we need anything extra for the room. She also draws a Disney picture on the letter some day these letters may be worth something because she is a very good artist (people tell me all the time she should be selling her art as prints). Oh and I would leave a fiver on the letter.

That is awesome that you were a torch bearer.

They have this whole new line of Disney clothes (I cannot remember what it's called...), but they have clothes for women, men, kids, and babies. They have a ton! I got an Oswald the Lucky Rabbit shirt (it's a men's). I would recommend checking it out!

EDIT: the line is called Disney's Artist Collection. I found the clothes on Target's site: http://www.target.com/c/disney-favo..._HEROCONTAINER|HEROCONTAINER&intc=622574|null

(there is a link at the top and a video)

Thanks for the link, I'll definitely check them out.

Mousesaves has a POI on their site. I don't know how current it is but I don't think a whole lot could have changed.

Mousekeepers POI Page

We use that and it works pretty good. I think a couple of times, it got a little confusing.

Question- how do you keep your ADrs confirmation numbers? In phone, on paper, emailed to yourself? I have never needed them but of course I do want them incase.
5 more days

A few years ago, I made an index card for each day. On the card, I would put the park(s) we were planning on going to, along with park hours and any ADR for that day. In the morning, I would grab the card and throw it in my bag.

Here are my parks and ADR's

20- Arrival and Youngest DS birthday. Heading to DisneyQuest for the first time.
21-MK, ADR CP at 6pm
22-DS, ADR SciFi at 11:30 trying for 2nd seating of fantasmic.
23-EP, Chefs du France 12:20, HDDR 7:15
24-Typhoon Lagoon, ADR 1900Park 5:05
25-MK, ADR CM 5:20, then Wishes Dessert 9:00 (Sh it's a surprise)
26-AK, ADR, ADR Tusker 10:30 (We love brunch)
27-EP, ADR Akershus 10:30, Garden Grill 5:15.
28, Blizzard Beach, departure day:(

:thumbsup2

If anyone wants me to add their ADRs to the master list on the first page, please send me a private message. It is very hard to keep up with this fast moving thread and sometimes I miss some! :thumbsup2

Wow, things are moving along today! I don't know what it is, the closer it's getting the more difficult it is to keep it from my son!
Very excited, got a lot of school shopping done, Aeropostale had some great online sales, got some jeans for my kiddos for $12.99 and $5.99 shirts. Already bought a ton of school supplies so basically just have to get their shoes and a couple more shirts.

Hope everyone is having a great Monday! :goodvibes

Sweet!
What bands does he like?
Oh my, let me think...the Ramones, Dead Kennedys, Rancid, Misfits, Decendants, 7 Seconds, Pixies, Distillers, etc...then he likes some pop punk too like Green Day and Blink (I love those 2 myself :rotfl:) He plays bass and guitar so I hear a lot of punk in my house. :goodvibes
