QOTD: Do you tip mousekeeping?? I know it's optional and there's been much debate over it on these boards but since we're all friendly (and I wanted to share a picture!) I thought we can all share our opinions!

I make mousekeeping envelopes - 1 for each morning of my trip. I give $3 per day. All my envelopes are already printed and stuffed! :)

My kids makeousekeeping envelopes and we tip $3 per day. I tend to clean room, make beds and many times Just get towels and no mousekeeping anyway

I've heard the standard is $1 per person + $1 for the room so we always give $3 for the two of us. Since we'll be three on this coming trip, I'm doing $4.

Thanks! When they stated that we had 0 deficiencies at the exit conference all of the department heads and nurse managers who attend the conference actually screamed. We work VERY hard to prepare for the survey so it was a huge relief to know we did so well. Deficiencies vary in severity with some imposing rather large monetary fines for the facility. No one wants to be responsible for it and it could even impact your job security if the offense is serious enough. It's a great feeling knowing it was perfect and as I said its very unusual to have a perfect survey. They almost always find something even if it's something small!

A photo gallery cd came in the box as well as the Photopass+ voucher and the redemption code to order the Photopass cd when we get home. There are over 400 high resolution photos from around the World on the CD. I'm having a ball looking thru it! There are some terrific shots!

Speaking of Photopass, does anyone know where we will be likely to find a cast member taking magic shots? I'm hoping to have a few of them taken. The kids don't know what they are so it will be a neat surprise for them when we return home. I heard those taking magic shots don't usually have a tripod. Is that true?

I was told that you can ask any photographer without a tripod. They can't do them in low light though, I think it was about 7:30pm in April and they couldn't do it. There are also some park specific poses available.

Is anyone else living in the northeast getting tired of these crazy storms? I'm all for it raining, I certainly know we need it, but this is getting a bit ridiculous!

Definitely. And my cat is especially tired of them! ;)

You guys are really getting it bad!
I would love some rain here but I better be careful what I wish for.

Cute design for the envelope! We have ours made (nothing fancy- DD just decorated w/stickers) and I'll be putting $5 in each tonight. I have a bunch of $5 bills from the garage sale, so I figure I may as well use them for that!

I forgot to quote it, but thanks for the Parasailing Groupon code, too. Sounds like something we could do for DS!

I definitely am!! Especially since we are sitting outside right now

It been thunder, rain, sun, rain, thunder, sun all day! Nuts. Making shopping for trip hard.
We are me DW, DH,DD 16, DS 22, waiting impatiently for our BLT stay 8/23-8/28. This thread moves really quick, can't keep up!

I feel like I'm just preparing for the random rain you receive when in WDW lol

That's really cool about the extra pictures! I bet those would be great for making photo books. :)
When i was googling what magic shots were a few weeks ago I came across this site: http://allears.net/tp/ppass.htm there is a map of all photopass photographer locations as well as a chart of where the specific magic shots are. I don't know how accurate it is but it should give you a good idea of whats available anyway. :)

Thanks for that standard! Good to know. We will probably do that then. :)

My search for flip flop/sandals is now OVER! DH and I went to Gander Mountain today. He wanted to look at guns. :P I wanted to check for Body Glide. I did not find any body glide but I did find a plethora of Reefs and Teva flip flops (as well as a few other brands). Well I tried them on and OMG, I LOVE the Reefs! So comfy. Its like walking on soft clouds (i would imagine). Maybe its just the Teva Mush 2s or something but I didn't find them comfortable at all. I had to get a 9 which is just weird since I wear 7.5 in work and tennis shoes but whatever they fit perfect and are so comfy. I am wearing them around the house. :rotfl: I will have to try them out shopping next week. Oh and added bonus is they were on sale for $18. I didn't think they were on sale (no signage) but when they got rung up the total was under 20 and I was like 'huh?' Not that I'm complaining. So yay! I found perfect flip flops! I can quit looking online. Reefs win!! :woohoo:

Yay for reefs!!! As I said before, that's ALL I wear in Disney! I'd wear them as much as possible now to break them in a little. Just be careful not to wear them when it's raining because it you walk on them a lot when they're super wet, they really form to your feet and aren't so squishy anymore. I have like 6 pairs of reefs and 2 have already been "squished" by rain so I purposely being those to wear on rainy days. :)

Thanks! That's exactly what I was looking for!

BTW, I love Reefs too. I have 3 pairs of them and plan on bringing 2 of them with us. I ordered a pair of Teva's on sale. Looking forward to seeing how they stack up. They were only $11 so I won't feel so bad if they aren't as good as the Reefs.

I have to throw in my vote for the Sanuk Yoga Mats. They are really really cozy too:)

I am having pre trip angst. I am 3 and half weeks away. It's too soon to pack, but I feel like I should be doing *something* trip related to pass the time!
I usually make a folder with a page for each trip day with ADR's and general plans etc. Not feeling like doing that yet. Maybe I'll mess around with my ADR's a bit:rolleyes1
I'm just restless.

Oh, and watch the Olympics. Who watched the opening ceremonies? I watched the last half live first, then watched the beginning. I liked it a lot... Except for that musical segment with the teens falling in love. I don't care for much of that music and it took me quite a while to figure out what the whole segment was about. I just got bored with that ( very long) bit.

I am a huge Olymipc fan and was a torch bearer in 2010 for the Winter Olympics. I've Been taking my holidays during the Olympics since the LA Olympics in1984. This year I won't be able to take the time off because we are only aloud two weeks during the summer and our trip to Disney is using both of them. Luckily a coworker of mine knows how important the Olympics are to me so he is letting me take one of his weeks and he will take one of mine in Sept so now I have next week of to watch the games.

For the opening ceremonies I worked the midnight shift so I was off at 7am and had plenty of time to rest up in time to watch them live on CTV then the rebroadcast on NBC. I took some flack from my bosses boss but it was so worth it.

We and by we, I mean my DD just leaves a note each morning for mouse keeping telling them what we are doing today, and if we need anything extra for the room. She also draws a Disney picture on the letter some day these letters may be worth something because she is a very good artist (people tell me all the time she should be selling her art as prints). Oh and I would leave a fiver on the letter.

I know the feeling. I have my mini folder all ready. Even have menus printed out for my crazy picky eater sister. Everything else seems pretty much set. Hmm... I love planning, want to plan some more.

The storms seemed to be bypassing southern New Jersey until tonight...we are just now getting a thunderstorm. They have been calling for them EVERY day though, making me think it is going to rain.

DH is out with the guys, so I am watching Tangled...;)

Depends on which Reefs you get. The reefs I buy, don't lose it "squishiness" (is that even a word) when they get wet. The ones I get run about $50.

Here in the south, we have been getting our normal evening thunderstorms. The one that came through this evening moved in fast and hit hard.

Thanks for the tip! I plan on wearing them whenever I can. They are sooo comfy! Can't wear them to work though. Darn!

They had some 50 dollar ones but I wasn't a fan of the colors they had. I just wanted something simple and black to go with my dresses instead of mixed colors. Though there were some gray/black/purple ones I thought were pretty but then I saw the 50 dollar price tag and put them back. lol Besides they wouldn't have gone with everything. Maybe next time. ;) The ones I got are called Seaside. I hope they don't get too squished out in case it rains at Disney. One of the main reasons I got them were for the water rides.

That's sooo cool that you were a torch bearer!! We have a celebrity in our midst! That's nice of your coworker to give you his week. Hope you have a great time watching the games!! GO USA!!! :cheer2:

So glad you found the perfect flips!!! I was debating the Tevas back and forth but I think I'll stick to the $8 flips I got from Kohls.

Stan: so cool that you carried the torch for the Winter Olympiccs. I love the Olympics and am sitting now watching swimming as I edit the park and resort lists and sruf the Dis. Missed most of the races today but got plenty of cheering practice at my son's soccer tournament.
