****OFFICIAL August, 2012 (PART 2)****

I haven't had much sleep last night due to going to a concert. The concert was fabulous.

In about 45 minutes we will leave for the airport. My ds, who is normally up right now, is still sound asleep. DD is awake and begging me to tell her which beach we are going to. Can't wait to really tell her where we are actually going.

Flight leaves at 9:20, so I guess I should get a move on.

Good Morning from Daytona Beach!!!! We ae having sme breakfast and spending the day near the pool before heading on to Orlando! :beach: our hotel is right on the beach! Woot!!!

What about this!!! Just in time for my trip!!

The Magic Kingdom is modifying its evening Extra Magic Hours line-up beginning next week, August 26 2012.

Splash Mountain is being removed from the available attractions, and Walt Disney's Enchanted Tiki Room will be taking its place.

Who in the world would be excited about the Tiki room for EMH?:confused3 (and now 15 people will jump out of the woodwork to tell me how much they love the Tiki room:rotfl2:).

It's certainly doesn't seem like a fair exchange. We don't do evening EMH but that does seem a little disappointing.

In other news.. ONE MORE SLEEP!!!!!!!!!!
I am nervous and excited and almost ready:cool1:

Watching that storm like a hawk. It's still anybodies guess where it will be.. but there is very real potential for a Florida hit somewhere so like the rest of you.. I can't help but have it in the back of my mind.

Is anyone else nervous about tropical storm issac? Supposed to hit southern Florida by Monday. Anyone heard if it'll head to disney? I really hope not :( ! I need some sun and some disney!

We were planing on flying down on Monday. We are changing plan now to be head out first flight on Sunday.

I would be lying if I said I wasn't nervous about it. I think it's the uncertainty at this point that is getting to me the most. The bottom line is that like many of you, I will be a traveler with small children and limited funds in a strange place. So I can't help but watch and hope that there will be nothing to worry about.
The potential for this storm is very ugly at this point. But in a moments notice it could be slowed by land interaction, or change course and then all the worry would be for nothing.
I've decided I would not feel comfortable telling anyone anything other that to have a back up plan. Orlando is relatively safe, Disney does a good job taking care of it's guests, and it is fairly far inland.

Anything could happen at this point and THAT makes me more nervous than I would like to be before a long awaited vacation. That stinks for all of us. Who knows where Isaac will be or how strong or weak he will be before it reaches the U.S? Nobody.
The National Hurricane Center website is a good resource, and will be updated through the week often. Just pay attention to it and adjust your plans accordingly:)

:( Yes I am in the same boat with you. I dont like the uncertainty feeling that Issac created in me. I had plan this very first trip since January. Now, all I need is uncertainty of something I dont have control over of.
Here is what we have as a back up plan
- Fly down on Sunday - first flight out. Should be landed in MCO around 2pm. (we are airline employee, so that part is flexible enough to deal with)
- I had a hotel book back in March for $30 off site for Sunday night if we needed.
- We should be ready by Saturday to decide if we want to go on Monday or Sunday.

Honestly, I prefer to start my trip on Monday since I dont want to pay taxi to get to the airport, pay for food the day before and all that goodies. I have things plan for DH and DS on Sunday (haircuts) but if we fly on Sunday, it means I will be the barber. :crazy2: I cut DS son many time, did a decent job but I am not sure I want to mess around with DH hair.

I am hoping, praying Issac will turn away or die down or something. We August Diser work/plan so hard for these trips.

Could you go to a walk in place for a quick haircut today or tomorrow? In my experience home haircuts never go well:rotfl2:
Just ask my daughter:rotfl:

Your plan sounds solid. As long as we all have one I think that's the best thing.
It's just too soon to tell what will happen. By Saturday you should have a much better idea:)

MY DH is working 16 hrs day for the next 4 days so no luck on walk in hair cut for him. He is covering shift for others so they can cover his while he is gone.
I will take my son to the salon I think tomorrow. He has an appointment with Jcpenny on Sunday. I will call and see if I can rebook. (kids free haircut on AUgust)

As far as the mommy haircut for DH and DS, if it has to come down to it:scratchin:scratchin:scratchin . I will be bringing extra hats for them ..hahahha... :lmao::lmao::lmao:

That is interesting, I wonder why they decided to take Splash off and put Tiki on :confused3. I didn't think Tiki was that popular, but then again I could be wrong.

Thank you for thinking of those of us that still have less then a week before our trips. You are too sweet :goodvibes. I keep saying to myself that it will be o.k. nothing will happen, people get nervous about hurricanes for nothing. However, we have never been to Florida during a possible hurricane before. The possibility of our flights being delayed or cancelled is really weighing on my mind. DH says to not worry about it right now, we will start watching it starting on Friday, but for now, just act like nothing is happening...sometimes I feel like he just doesn't understand my concerns.

I would also be lying if I said that I wasn't. It's not that I am nervous about being there in a storm. I was there in 94' during Hurricane Gordon and all it amounted to was one yucky rainy, windy day in MK. No waits for any rides, kind of a fun adventure. My main concern this time is that I will have my daughter this time and I want the trip to be special for her. My DM is also coming and absolutely LOVES Disney! She hasn't been in 10 years and this trip is a gift to her from DB and my families. I really want it to be special for her too. We fly out at 6 am on Friday, so I know that shouldn't be a problem. I guess that all we can do is hope and pray that either this thing misses FL altogether, or that by the time it gets there, it will have lost speed and be nothing more than an annoying day of rain. Either way I intend on not letting Mr. Isaac spoil my magical vacation that I have spent the entire year planning and paying for! :)

Hi everyone, we checked in on Sunday and have been going nonstop since the plane landed. I figured the thread would have slowed down a bit being this late into AUG but I had a ton of pages to read.

We did DQ at DTD on Sunday, EPOCT on Monday and MK yesterday. The WIFI at MK worked great and I was able to use the FaceTime app to show my DW and DD wishes back home. We did the Wishes dessert party last night and it was great we had a spot right in line for Tinker-bell to fly right over us only with the rain she didn't fly at all, but at least we were dry and had seats the whole time :). Today will be a bit more easy going for us TL during the day and ??? for the evening. We are thinking of having dinner at and exploring AoA.

So far no Dis meets with my LGMHs and I have three of them on me at all times but the weeks are still young.
Thanks for checking in, Stan! Sounds like a great trip! Have you watched the local news down there at all? Just wondering what they're saying about Isaac.

Lame! Who would pick the Tiki room over Splash? Unless it's because no one wants to ride Splash in the rain?

I'm nervous about the storm, but will also not let it ruin our trip. It'll be an adventure either way :) We were watching the weather this morning and saw that the storm behind Isaac is close to being named and will be named Joyce. That's our last name! DH looked at me and said "forget Isaac, it's the Joyces that Florida better prepare for!" :rotfl:

Sounds like you had a great time at the waterparks! Any tips? We're doing 4 days of waterparks this year for the first time ever and are super excited.

Crazy!! thanks for posting. Definitely good to know as I'm planning to do Evening EMH on Sunday, Sept 2. Also, everyone knows that the Country Bear Jamboree is closed for refurb now, right? On the good side, the bakery in France is still open even with all the construction going on at the Bistro.

It's the uncertainty of it all. We're all obviously batty planners and the possibility of a well-laid plan that has to be thrown out the window is frustrating! I know Disney will take good care of us - but the possibility of huddling in our hotel room and losing 1-2 days of our precious vacation does have me a little on the edge. We want to HAVE FUN and I'm hoping Isaac doesn't rain on our MSEP parade!

Just spent the last little bit on the phone with Discovery Cove and Aquatica. Both sound like they will be pretty easy to work with should Isaac turn out to squash our carefully crafted plans.

So wishing our afternoon flight on Sunday was a morning one. Drat! Quite honestly, I'm not really worried what happens once we get there....I just want to get there, and get there safely.

So within the last half hour I got a phone call from my parents asking me if I have plenty of rain gear packed. I think I may get a few more ponchos for this trip. My DMom And DDad live in Florida and they are saying that it will probably rain buckets for a few days if the track stays the way they are forcasting it. They did say that they haven't called for exact landfall or severity yet because it is really too far out. They are keeping a look out and keeping us informed and so are we. We will go to the parks and get wet but still have fun. We aren't worried about our flights since se fly out tomorrow and only come back on Friday 8/31. In all the years we have gone down to Floriday/Disney, this is the first time we are even putting thought into real weather things happening. So here is hoping for the best but preparing for the worst.pixiedust:

Couldn't agree more with this sentiment! We have put too much time, money, excitement and effort into this trip a long time in the making! We will not let Isaac dampen our spirits or make us not have a good time. (pardon the pun ;) )

This is my thought as well.

Well, I better get off here and maybe finish some packing or I think my mum might ring my neck lol. :crazy2:
We leave in 29 hours, Our flight is in 53 hours, Arrive in Orlando in 55.5 hours and then Disney bright and early Saturday morning (70 hours say lol) :cheer2:

We are.here at POFQ. In building 7 which is the furthest from the main building. But we at least we are at WDW.

This is exactly how I am feeling! I'm not too nervous of the hurricane because it looks like if it hit Orlando it may lose steam by the time it got there. I'm more upset that we maybe stuck in our disney hotel for a day or two not enjoying the plans I have obsessed over for 6 months now! Especially since I will most likely have to skip next summer due to my last semester of nursing school may end up in the summer months of next year :( I have to get enough fun out of this trip to at least last me 18 months :( let's just all pray issac and his buddy Joyce don't feel like making a stop in disney!
